Great commentary and very helpful. I have gone back to this game after 7 years as I never completed it on Titan. Amazed all these comments and this vid is in the last month or so and not 7 years old - just shows the great playability and fun of this game - still, the Underworld Passage seem to be crucial.
It's funny... sometimes i get it and sometimes i dont and when i do get it it's never behind my walls... If you push your wall far enough and if you take the middle lake full of fish with a dock i find that they normally spawn the underground passage there.

I've studied the AI files, the pass trains a max of 40 units (hoplites and hypaspists) with 100000 resources; the greek city is a standard (like on random maps) with no rushing, it has a bias for military. If you've noticed, there are 2 sky passages in another area and an island, and one that is on a cliff and near the enemy base.The attacks on titan are way unbalanced, on easier difficulties the city has a handicap of 30%, but on titan it gives an advantage of 1.8x which makes it very tough.
Thank you, struggled a lot with this one, never thought about baiting an attack and sneaking the destroyers to the back with navy. My plan was to spam units til they're out of resources but it didn't work :(

This level is painfully difficult, but an alternative that guarantees victory (although might stretch out the length) is simply to advance to the heroic age, spam a bunch of citizens, and then get everyone on boats. There are heaps of points on the map where the enemy essentially can't get to you but where you have lots of resources, especially the island to the far south and a couple of cliffed off areas in the NE and far west. There you can take your time to get upgrades, build an economy, and return with a fully trained army to destroy the barracks.
I did this mission little differently before watching this...I just rushed right at the start to that settlement under your base and walled much closer to their base (like right next to it...:D)...it makes it much easier to get rid of their barracks sooner with few pushes with behemoth...then i just spammed murmilos and archers and pushed them into their base until i destroyed town center...after some time:D ...but really thanks for Odin tower strategy (!!!)...that mission almost killed me:D
I'm currently on the 5th mission here on titan difficulty, but I've had nothing but stupid, unbelievable strategies the whole way through. For the 1st, I built a bunch of towers scattered around, and quickly got walls up to lure the attacks in. I then sent Kastor to stand out there, so when an army came the AI targeted him. He then ran zigzags around my towers which had free shots. In between attacks I got enough resources to evnetually build an army, which sat in a corner till I needed it (cause my towers did all the killing). I had to go through three whole armies though to get through the three bases. In this one, I sent Kastor out again and quickly dispatched the small attacks, then sent him to their academies. I lured their army out and had them chase Kastor in circles around the field between the wall and town center. In between telling him to move, I quickly got an armory to give him resistances, and the heroic renewal to make him regenerate faster. They used the underworld passage just south of my town center, but I save a lot, so next I had my small army and three behemoths waiting right there, along with a use of chaos and shockwave. I built up an entire base while their army was chasing Kastor in circles. He's done a lot of running now. XD Once I had him back though, the attacks were nonstop. I could defened no problem, but I couldn't push. I built a harbor and sent nonstop boats until I destroyed their navy, found resource spots around the map, and attacked their base from water. I made a rush and distracted with my army, while the eight behemoths destroyed the academies. I had to retreat though after. The attacks slowed after a while, and I think it's cause almost all the resources had been gathered off the map. XD Eventually I made a push with destroyers. 3rd wasn't too bad actually, just built up defenses and an army with heroic renewal, then won. 4th was devastating when I saw I couldn't get heroic renewal, but I did a similar strategy to the 1st. This time I was mass producing murmillo though, and I used all of the destruction god powers on hill forts and temples that were right there. After an attack, I could send my army in, but I would meet their next attack on the way there. I kept doing that, and built a fresh army of murmillos each time to defend. Evnetually, when resources ran out (I was fine with farms and caravans, since murmillos only cost food and gold), I pushed and reclaimed the first town center, built four barracks next to it, and just spit out murmillos (cause I had like 20 000 food and gold each). I sent them into the base in groups of 20-30 each, but I still probably went through hundreds of them before I took it down. I then realised I could use the pegasus relic to get visibility of the temples, warp my army there, and complete the mission without ever having to touch the other two bases, but I attacked them for fun. The center guard was really stupid, as I shifted a bunch of towers and a palace to the north end of their base, trained 30 hero destroyers, and started destroying buildings, but their army stayed in the south trying to run at my main base. XD Did a similar strategy for the last guys, though they weren't as dumb (smaller base I guess), and I went through lots of buildings and destroyers. 5th, not too sure yet. First try they landed a huge army by the northern resource town center really early, so second try I built a harbor and one siege ship and destroyed their harbor. But a huge army attacked through the pass I funneled them into with walls, and my army wasn't big enough. If only I had Kastor, I might be able to make him run more circles. XD
build a transpoort. there are places on the map where they cant reach you make an army there and attack from water. Basically dont bother defending your base, though you shuold make sure to build at least 8 citizens befre running because you wont have any settlements in the safe spots
You could take the easy way out, if you really are having difficulties. Advance to the III age as fast as possible and move all your army/citizens to the island south of the map. It has three lard gold mines if i remember correctly and some wood. You can easily farm for food, so you are set for some time and launch your attack easily from there. I know it's easy way out, but still better then using cheats etc.
It's really weird , I think here was in Hiper Titan mode, for which 12 minutes were already with trebuchets at me and an underpass . but I managed to win at the end of it all , taking the entire population with the buildings.
I take it that the Devs didn't give us myth units or siege in this level to make it easier for new players so that they don't get overwhelmed, my question is: Why the fuck did they make the objective to destroy buildings?? Especially with an endless fucking stream of troops coming at you
Took me long to try and devise the right strat to win this, by luck the enemy used their underworld power on that top ridge that's inaccessible near where we start so that helped a lot lol.
Yeah AI in this game is kind of broken, i mean in my later remake of the series i was able to get the 2nd village easy but by god its like your randomly rolling a seed for vsing good AI or bad AI. Kind of hope its fixed in the retold edition.
was playing this through again.... lol them mad AI mass building units, non stop 2 fortress, 3 racks, 3 archery range, 3 stables, once i broke through their 4 racks in the front, i hero up my destoryer and just click their town center, u cant outmass the AI lol
guys I dont think the Passage placement is random ... i think its placed in the closest visible place for the computer ... meaning it can spawn in your base if they get a pegass fly in it ..
There is, its just im busy with moving stuff around with my comp, I will be doing the extended edition version of every level along with the golden gift
Very, very hard mission on titan difficulty. If you actually get to their main base, you find that attacking it head on is pretty much impossible. What I did was to make a hole through their wall with ships, closest to their town center and sent in alot of those palace siege units and just went for the temple. Alot of archers too that have to shoot down those pesky workers who come and repair the damn thing all the time. But I got it in the end, after like 7-8 hours of playtime.
There are two AIs: the pass and the city. I think the city AI was somewhat jammed because it only attacked once (the only attack with myth units), and didn't use Underworld Pass with the Pegasus to bypass the walls. So I don't know how helpful this replay is. (In this scenario you would fight a Titan AI (the city) which is hard enough (with siege, myth and matching counter units to your own), but also ~30-unit attacks from the pass -- in your video you only have only the pass attacking you).
37:20 I managed to beat the AI with a head on assault. Not impossible. You need to stash 10k+ resources and delete all your workers except for 1, max out on troops than get all of them to heroes and discover all the behemoths on the map (you need 1 transport ship and the previously mentioned worker) After that just all in. Make sure you have enough destroyers and behemoths to snipe their production buildings while your main army is fighting theirs. (I used 15 destroyers in my run.) Ps: previously I also tried 20 destroyers, no behemoths, but it's too hard. I ended up just destroying the town center for the win after I realised my army was falling down too quickly.
Just sucks to do and takes so long, so while i usually at least get rid of the barracks from the front i like to use the front to distract and destroyers via the sea these days.
I was able to win while attacking from the front. I've built max army right after destroying academies, started the push and they casted Ceasefire. I simply ran to town center, waited and destroyed it within a dozen of seconds. Lost almost all my army though, so I guess no chance to beat them in fair play :D
Interesting, im always worried my army dies by the time thats over though, i tend to use the waters, as long as you can get sky passages before they are aware you won't really run out of gold.
When are you planning on doing the next Campaign's? 3rd one is easy, but it's the 4th Campaign that i want to see how you will do it. It was killing me, until i figured out how to do it. By far the most difficult campaign for me.
I want to tell you something too, i have seen a lot of your videos and i think that you are a great player. fuck this mission is very easy, especially if you go in another island. go to the hardest mission (titan difiiculty) of aom the 8th, no one can win this mission on titan difficulty, if you achieve that you will be my god!!
Finaly i pass this shit. But this tactic dont work here. they keep using Underworld to rape me. But after 2 hours i finally pass this shit. In Age of Mythologi i just 1shot all misions but this is so hard in titan mode :3
This level took me hours of back and forth. I hate how they restrict what you can build as the atlantian units suck I have to rely on tower spam and sneaking destroyers
Yup. Walling off and building towers is my favourite wat to hold them off with murmillo stopping them from hitting the walls if possible (Zeus infantry hit buildings much harder)
One of the hardest ones, endless unit spam... I just bomb rushed the second TC and have a massive tower spam + wall funneling. Build up your eco and just spam units like crazy and inch your way forward. Taking down the enemy TC with some destroyers was a pain though ;p
First, i tried this mission whith building troops and walls. It worked, but i just managed to survive infinitely, so i quit. i don't know why but every time i was trying to sally out after an ennemy wave, an other was coming and destroyed me outside my wall. I wasn't able to do anything ;-( Next, i tried this mission sneaky, while they attacked me i have created a decent force to destroy their barracks and town center. it worked on the barracks, but after the barracks my behemoth are merging because of a stupid glitch then i arrived on the town center with murmillo and a behemoth, the greek activate ceasefire, i ignore the ennemy soldiers and go right for their TC. finally, because of a glitch, my one behemoth is unable to beat the TC and my troops got slaughtered :-( . i was winning and a glitch ruined my game. I tried this 4 times, always the same glitch D: so i used a cheatcode...i'm gonna try your manner after the whole campaign i'm at mission 8 cerberus at the moment, and i have to say that this mission 2 seems a lot more harder to me : you have nothing, a a very short period of time to build army + economy, then, this god IA is pounding you non-stop xD
Dude you just need the anti infantry ballistas from the counter barracks for the first part of the mission. No need for walling and all that. They slaughter everything the greeks send with ease.
I got a better strat for the level, still doesn't involve those though. It is a strat that works though using those but you still need walls. When hoplites get close enough they slaughter those ballistas. The wall is to mitigate any damage normally done to your units while dealing much more to them before they break through. It's just that while im waiting to build that new PC i won't be doing any videos. Still gonna upload some older ones though.
Cool that you still read and answer comments on such an old video of yours! Your video series was a tremendous help in getting through some of the harder bits on titan, especially missions 3 and 4. For this second mission I found out that just keeping ~2-3 palaces + ~10 ballistas close to where the infantry waves spawn buys you as much time as you want. In the meantime you can load all the behemoths + as many destroyers as possible on transport ships and land them closely to the enemy TC (after clearling out their navy + docks). Then just ignore the enemy army and kill the TC. No need to kill the barracks at all it seems. This might be cheesy, but I thought its worth sharing :) Keep up the good work whenever ready!
I try. Im a small channel, plus i don't answer them all that quick. I left them for months! And yeah thats my new start you pretty much nailed on the head, but if you don't do it quickly after you build the dock on the outside that plan gets stopped pretty quickly, so you need backups there :)
you can beat the misson in 7 minuts at the start order two civs to build the tamples(also right click on them to get wood after they finish) then order another two to go to right to hunt a bear to get food and the last for wood then go to the next age it dosent matter which god you choose then odrder one of them to build a dock and another to finsh the last tample once the dock is done build a transport ship and then wait till you get 3 or 2 Behemoth then take you other armay you can even upragde them if you want then use the ship to go to the right countine untill you see enamy ship once you see them go stright to land and go stright to the town center the missson will end when you destroy it and use the earthquake if they block your Behemoth
Not earthquake, Atlanteans don't get that god power, your referring to shockwave. Maybe I'll try it but i doubt id do it constantly like i do with Isis Hear my Plea. Another thing is that they will also use Ceasefire at some point when you hit their TC.
MajorFoley they do but even then as long as you have at least two healthy behemoths that are at the town center you will be fine but I did forget to mention to make sure to attack when you see their army leave to attack your base
Everyones got their own strats :) Even when i get back to doing this it wont be using that one unfortuantely, might try it for fun but I'll still do my way, up to you whether or not you guys think its efficient but should be different to this one.

well i could have tried this strategy but i just wanted to have fun so i went with the normal way defending my self and everything, it took me a couple of tries (2-3 tries) but i'v done it the final try took me 3 hours, defending yourself in that map is a pain
I really really dont get it, i did everything and he used a teleport to transport over 50 units but on your video the units are in the front the gates but i got them inside them wtf...

i was like "hey, lets replay age of mythology, its been so long and im really feeling it", and then mission 2 on hard difficulty ripped me a new asshole. Now im too annoyed to even continue playing ARGH edit: been at this level for like 5 hours. Eventually just went on moderate difficulty and that was too easy :s
there is enemy military instalation north of enemy TC. its not even appear on map (i use cheat code because i didnt have idea why enemy soldier keep spawning after i destroyed their military building south of tc. andddd.they can rebuild houses and repair tc. ridiculous🙄

I do have a better strategy for this level too its just I still haven't chosen a hard drive to get yet :)
They actually do make a bit of navy, however my new strat does incorporate using the islands around the entire area for your gold. As well as another avenue of attack. I tend to use it when streaming on twitch.
In 3 years I came back to this and won on Titan. I just made 3 layer walls and 5 towers behind. Then add archers. It wasn't hard to push the first tc and destroy the military buildings after I was fully boomed. But then I had lots of trouble pushing into their main base. I tried for an hour until I just built 5 layers of walls in front of their base and went back. They didn't really attack so I just waited for 30 mins made 10 rax banked 20k of all res and deleted my eco for pop. That worked. Though I went down to like 5k wood or Smith.

I was once doing so well on this level..... And then they used Underworld passage and send a huge army behind my walls with myth units and everything

You can train Dryads which is nice because they don't count against population cap.

Yeah titan bots tend to get 100% handicap so they get a lot of extra resources when they deposit among other things.
Ranged heavy approaches are so rewarding to watch lol
when loads of soldiers die sure but doesn't always work at times :)

Good strategy and I don't see much else one can do to win this level in titan... it's like playing against 4 or 5 AI players.
I honestly have a better strategy for this one at this point. I stream the game sometimes on twitch.

this looks pretty much like hard if u ask me, their navy is much bigger on titan, also they mostly attack with 2 attacks instead of ones

Yeah AI in this game is kind of broken, i mean in my later remake of the series i was able to get the 2nd village easy but by god its like your randomly rolling a seed for vsing good AI or bad AI. Kind of hope its fixed in the retold edition.
was playing this through again.... lol them mad AI mass building units, non stop 2 fortress, 3 racks, 3 archery range, 3 stables, once i broke through their 4 racks in the front, i hero up my destoryer and just click their town center, u cant outmass the AI lol

guys I dont think the Passage placement is random ... i think its placed in the closest visible place for the computer ... meaning it can spawn in your base if they get a pegass fly in it ..

Very, very hard mission on titan difficulty. If you actually get to their main base, you find that attacking it head on is pretty much impossible. What I did was to make a hole through their wall with ships, closest to their town center and sent in alot of those palace siege units and just went for the temple. Alot of archers too that have to shoot down those pesky workers who come and repair the damn thing all the time. But I got it in the end, after like 7-8 hours of playtime.
There are two AIs: the pass and the city. I think the city AI was somewhat jammed because it only attacked once (the only attack with myth units), and didn't use Underworld Pass with the Pegasus to bypass the walls. So I don't know how helpful this replay is. (In this scenario you would fight a Titan AI (the city) which is hard enough (with siege, myth and matching counter units to your own), but also ~30-unit attacks from the pass -- in your video you only have only the pass attacking you).

Try to replay it and see if your own strategy would work when the city attacks. It's much harder.

37:20 I managed to beat the AI with a head on assault. Not impossible. You need to stash 10k+ resources and delete all your workers except for 1, max out on troops than get all of them to heroes and discover all the behemoths on the map (you need 1 transport ship and the previously mentioned worker) After that just all in. Make sure you have enough destroyers and behemoths to snipe their production buildings while your main army is fighting theirs. (I used 15 destroyers in my run.)
Ps: previously I also tried 20 destroyers, no behemoths, but it's too hard. I ended up just destroying the town center for the win after I realised my army was falling down too quickly.
Just sucks to do and takes so long, so while i usually at least get rid of the barracks from the front i like to use the front to distract and destroyers via the sea these days.
I was able to win while attacking from the front. I've built max army right after destroying academies, started the push and they casted Ceasefire. I simply ran to town center, waited and destroyed it within a dozen of seconds. Lost almost all my army though, so I guess no chance to beat them in fair play :D
Interesting, im always worried my army dies by the time thats over though, i tend to use the waters, as long as you can get sky passages before they are aware you won't really run out of gold.
When are you planning on doing the next Campaign's? 3rd one is easy, but it's the 4th Campaign that i want to see how you will do it. It was killing me, until i figured out how to do it. By far the most difficult campaign for me.
I want to tell you something too, i have seen a lot of your videos and i think that you are a great player. fuck this mission is very easy, especially if you go in another island. go to the hardest mission (titan difiiculty) of aom the 8th, no one can win this mission on titan difficulty, if you achieve that you will be my god!!
It's possible to just fight them straight on by leapfrogging towers. Iirc, they don't have too much siege. But it's tedious
Finaly i pass this shit. But this tactic dont work here. they keep using Underworld to rape me. But after 2 hours i finally pass this shit. In Age of Mythologi i just 1shot all misions but this is so hard in titan mode :3

This level took me hours of back and forth. I hate how they restrict what you can build as the atlantian units suck I have to rely on tower spam and sneaking destroyers

Yup. Walling off and building towers is my favourite wat to hold them off with murmillo stopping them from hitting the walls if possible (Zeus infantry hit buildings much harder)

I just bomb rushed the second TC and have a massive tower spam + wall funneling.
Build up your eco and just spam units like crazy and inch your way forward.
Taking down the enemy TC with some destroyers was a pain though ;p
Theres an easier way and a way to also get ALOT more gold. My next version of the level should show that :)

with me they spawned the underworld left of the water where you have your fishing ships
First, i tried this mission whith building troops and walls. It worked, but i just managed to survive infinitely, so i quit. i don't know why but every time i was trying to sally out after an ennemy wave, an other was coming and destroyed me outside my wall. I wasn't able to do anything ;-(
Next, i tried this mission sneaky, while they attacked me i have created a decent force to destroy their barracks and town center. it worked on the barracks, but after the barracks my behemoth are merging because of a stupid glitch
then i arrived on the town center with murmillo and a behemoth, the greek activate ceasefire, i ignore the ennemy soldiers and go right for their TC. finally, because of a glitch, my one behemoth is unable to beat the TC and my troops got slaughtered :-( . i was winning and a glitch ruined my game.
I tried this 4 times, always the same glitch D:
so i used a cheatcode...i'm gonna try your manner after the whole campaign
i'm at mission 8 cerberus at the moment, and i have to say that this mission 2 seems a lot more harder to me : you have nothing, a a very short period of time to build army + economy, then, this god IA is pounding you non-stop xD

Dude you just need the anti infantry ballistas from the counter barracks for the first part of the mission. No need for walling and all that. They slaughter everything the greeks send with ease.
I got a better strat for the level, still doesn't involve those though. It is a strat that works though using those but you still need walls. When hoplites get close enough they slaughter those ballistas. The wall is to mitigate any damage normally done to your units while dealing much more to them before they break through.
It's just that while im waiting to build that new PC i won't be doing any videos. Still gonna upload some older ones though.
Cool that you still read and answer comments on such an old video of yours! Your video series was a tremendous help in getting through some of the harder bits on titan, especially missions 3 and 4. For this second mission I found out that just keeping ~2-3 palaces + ~10 ballistas close to where the infantry waves spawn buys you as much time as you want. In the meantime you can load all the behemoths + as many destroyers as possible on transport ships and land them closely to the enemy TC (after clearling out their navy + docks). Then just ignore the enemy army and kill the TC. No need to kill the barracks at all it seems. This might be cheesy, but I thought its worth sharing :) Keep up the good work whenever ready!
I try. Im a small channel, plus i don't answer them all that quick. I left them for months!
And yeah thats my new start you pretty much nailed on the head, but if you don't do it quickly after you build the dock on the outside that plan gets stopped pretty quickly, so you need backups there :)

you can beat the misson in 7 minuts at the start order two civs to build the tamples(also right click on them to get wood after they finish) then order another two to go
to right to hunt a bear to get food and the last for wood then go to the next age it dosent matter which god you choose then
odrder one of them to build a dock and another to finsh the last tample once the dock is done build a transport ship and then wait till you get 3 or 2 Behemoth then take you other armay you can even upragde them if you want then use the ship to go to the right countine untill you see enamy ship once you see them go stright to land and go stright to the town center
the missson will end when you destroy it and use the earthquake
if they block your Behemoth
Not earthquake, Atlanteans don't get that god power, your referring to shockwave. Maybe I'll try it but i doubt id do it constantly like i do with Isis Hear my Plea. Another thing is that they will also use Ceasefire at some point when you hit their TC.

MajorFoley they do but even then as long as you have at least two healthy behemoths that are at the town center you will be fine but I did forget to mention to make sure to attack when you see their army leave to attack your base
Everyones got their own strats :) Even when i get back to doing this it wont be using that one unfortuantely, might try it for fun but I'll still do my way, up to you whether or not you guys think its efficient but should be different to this one.

well i could have tried this strategy but i just wanted to have fun
so i went with the normal way defending my self and everything, it took me a couple of tries (2-3 tries) but i'v done it
the final try took me 3 hours, defending yourself in that map is a pain

I really really dont get it, i did everything and he used a teleport to transport over 50 units but on your video the units are in the front the gates but i got them inside them wtf...
Depends on where you build your walls, if you build em right they dont even spawn the passage which is real handy.

@@MajorFoley Ok i have tried it for over 5 times and I built walls the same way as on your video but they keep building the passage even if i go around the map and find everything, every rune they keep sending their troops and they are really strong

i was like "hey, lets replay age of mythology, its been so long and im really feeling it", and then mission 2 on hard difficulty ripped me a new asshole. Now im too annoyed to even continue playing ARGH
edit: been at this level for like 5 hours. Eventually just went on moderate difficulty and that was too easy :s

there is enemy military instalation north of enemy TC. its not even appear on map (i use cheat code because i didnt have idea why enemy soldier keep spawning after i destroyed their military building south of tc.

I ended up using cheat for this mission because fuck this - enemy just never ran out of troops.

there is an easy way
build 10 citizens then transport into safe spots there are five and attack them from water. they dont make much navy.
They actually do make a bit of navy, however my new strat does incorporate using the islands around the entire area for your gold. As well as another avenue of attack. I tend to use it when streaming on twitch.
In 3 years I came back to this and won on Titan. I just made 3 layer walls and 5 towers behind. Then add archers. It wasn't hard to push the first tc and destroy the military buildings after I was fully boomed. But then I had lots of trouble pushing into their main base. I tried for an hour until I just built 5 layers of walls in front of their base and went back. They didn't really attack so I just waited for 30 mins made 10 rax banked 20k of all res and deleted my eco for pop. That worked. Though I went down to like 5k wood or Smith.
