It always works out. The only real "iffy" year for #4 was 2014 with TCU, Baylor and OSU. OsU dominated 2 straight 50point blowouts with a 3rd string qb so it was clear that they were #4. Every other year the top 4 were the top 4, however I wouldve given ucf the 4 spot 2 years ago, but once again the 4th team won the entire playoff like in 2014 so theres nothing to scoff at right now. Bias is real obviously but by this time of the year any bias and bs will work itself out on the field.
You must not realize how big of a gap exists once you get past the top 4 or 5 teams. 8 teams would ensure that the same teams like Clemson, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Bama get in every year unless they have serious injuries.

First off, the first OU Baylor game was at Baylor in prime time so of course the Bears were amped and probably played their best football of the year in that first half. Second, OU didn't have Ceedee Lamb that game. Third, Baylor has never been the the Big 12 championship game and the Sooners live there. And finally, OU lost the turnover battle in a big way that night. This time it's going to be very different and not really close, either.
