I still can't believe that Kenshi's the first protagonist who has a huge harem. And oh, my God! I love his White Sacred Mechanoid. It looks like a Kaiju, or Bio-Mech that slightly resembles Apex. Remember, the Power of a Mechanoid, comes from the pilot itself. War on Geminar is one of my favorite anime.🤩
Of the Tenchi's I've watched now, both casually and for the Channel, it's by far the one that I feel is the best in tersm of story, character, and overall feel. This is with me purposely AVOIDING the heck out of the Tenchi OVA. ~ Pokeprof
It is true. Photon is set on Geminar, only in the distant past. Dual is not just a precursor of GXP, the characters of Dual are the reason the galaxy has so many human-like characters. They seeded the galaxy. And the characters of Dual get reincarnated, which is why they are in OVA 5 and why they'll be in the new GXP: Paradise Begins OVA.
The problem comes with the fact that those are rarely, if ever, told to us through the series itself! Kinda hard to keep up with it outside of the most die hard of Tenchi Fans, which I am sadly not :P ~ Pokeprof
I came across this series by accident a year ago and discovered I loved it. I had not seen any other Tenchi anything before so this really crave wanting more background. I have been a dedicated Tenchi fan since and War on Geminar began it all!
That's impressive, considering just how different War on Geminar is compared to the rest of the franchise! Here's hoping I covered all the little interesting things for you with this video :3 ~ Pokeprof
I wouldn't say it's the best anime out there, but it actually had a story, continuity, and character that I could get behind. The main problem really came down to the fact that it's one of those 'hit the ground running, you'll pick up the lingo as we move along' kind of series, so it feels like it takes two watchthroughs to understand half of it. ~ Pokeprof
From what I recall looking up and reading about it, those voices that we see at the end are the same voices from the beginning, which are implied to be Washu and Kenshi's mother. I personally just ignored them, since they really didn't matter for the main plot itself and require knowledge from the Tenchi OVA to actually understand anything. ~ Pokeprof
Hilariously enough? Tenchi wasn't my introduction to the Harem element! That honor belongs to Ranma 1/2, a series that despite it's many, MANY problems is still something I still have a soft spot for. ~ Pokeprof
Haha, no problem! Honestly, I was surprised about how good the show was too, though I mostly blame GXP for kinda tainting the rest of the series for me for that. I'd still say the show isn't perfect, but it's a great deal better than what I was expecting! ~ Pokeprof
War on Geminar is honestly the only Truly great tenchi muyo related show to have come out post the 90's era. Cause while technically it is still set in the same universe so to speak and involves tenchi's brother it is not so convoluted and tied to those events and characters. it is pretty much its own show and everyone is allowed to develop and it is easy for people to just jump in as they don't need to watch the previous stuff to get into it and there are just tiny references and easter eggs that fans of the old show can spot and enjoy. Tench franchise has pretty much gone downhill, even i long time of it just can't give it anymore excuses, the last few shows in particular have been so altered and skips so much detail, that anyone who has not read the GXP novels(which i might remakes the story from the original GXP show) that they are unwatchable. Also It has degraded to the point it is clear as day, it is just Masaki(the writer) self inserting himself in the story that he is surrounded by all woman who love him, he is a hero and overpowered like a god. Honestly it is so transparent it is sickening. Like i seriously think he probably really did have a thing for and pardon the word F+++ed his relatives as the incest thing has devolved to scary outcomes. The Ryo-ohki canon has been DESTROYED cause of the direction Masaki went with all this different remake and adaptation to the story. Which is why funimation probably never licensed the rest of the series. Geminar was a success for them like the orignal Tenchi series from the 90's, but afterword with all the remakes and alienating the fans especially the western fans. Ai:Tenchi Muyo bombed for them and it has become a dead franchise for funimation (like seriously another remake of a story? WHY) That is why i prefer the Tenchi Universe Saga. It was done perfectly and it has stuck around to this day as the best Tenchi Adaptation to date and the Movies pretty much give it a satisfying conclusion. Not all this crazy crap Masaki did with the Ryo-ohki canon. The Tokyo Saga is alright, it has its nostalgia value but is still as not as good as universe. Ai: Tenchi Muyo was meh, just a cheap promotional series for the franchise anniversary and the town it went, Both this and Tokyo were attempts to continue the universe saga but went their own stories. GXP i liked the original anime but the GXP novels retconned everything and the story elements from that seeped into the main ryo-ohki canon that it made pretty much irrelevant. War on Geminar is the one exception to that rule and the only Reason i am still around is i am hoping that do that hinted s2 at the end someday. I do know sequels have large gaps in between so there is still a chance. There is a new show that is suppose to be be prequal that connects it to the Paradise Wars saga, which is airing right now, which is also on its own story similar to this but if they are already adapting elements from gxp into it i am not getting my hopes up. Anyway sorry for the long rant but i felt i had to say it.
Never feel sorry about ranting! Heck, that's one of the reasons I started making videos in the first place (And is actually the source of the next video that's almost done!). I can't give any real opinions on anything Tenchi that I've already covered in my videos, mostly because I've not watched any of them... But I'm going to be changing that for a future episode of the show :3 ~ Pokeprof
I'd say it's probably a little better than even the original, but I'm honest when I've said I've not rewatched the OVA's in years. I remember next to nothing about them so can't give an honest opinion. ~ Pokeprof
You need to watch Original then universe to get the 2 sides of tenchi series , original is absolutely a must watch as it began the OVA import and craze . Much like watching Ranma 1/2 original before the new series .
I've watched all of the OVA up to the point where the dubbing stopped at this point. It's helps inform, to be sure. That said, IIRC, isn't the new Ranma just them doing the original series/manga over again? ~ Pokeprof
Not gonna lie, when i found this, i was bored as hell and decided to watch the anime. I knew of Tenchi Muyo, but wasn't very familiar with the anime and to be honest, i enjoyed this anime. I liked how unique Kenshi was to the people of Geminar and how his character is.
I still hold to the fact that I think it's still one of the better Tenchi series I've watched and reviewed. Still not without it's issues, but that comes part and parcel with anything Tenchi these days, imo. ~ Pokeprof
It was meh I don't see the over hype. Quality drops, some moments were decent but overall it didn't feel a story that was properly well told. Certain moments feeling rushed, unanswered questions. 6/10
I'll fully admit that you've definitely got from points, but I'm also comparing this to the other Tenchi series, in particular GXP since that was my most recent Tenchi outing before this. It's still damn good, for a Tenchi series, comparatively. Wouldn't say it's fantastic, though what Harem Anime is, but it's a vastly superior offering than most of the rest of the series. ~ Pokeprof

It was the first tenchi Muyo series for me
War on Geminar is possibly the most well rounded entry into the franchise. It was a great time. IMHO.
I wouldn't say it's the best anime out there, but it actually had a story, continuity, and character that I could get behind. @ hmmm. I can see that perspective. Yeah it’s not AMAZING. But solid. Won’t make the probowl. But a good asset to the team. 🤣
Anyone gonna talk about the creepy messages at the end of the final episode? Stuff looked like the kinda creepy stuff from a horror movie trailer

The original was such an entrance into harem elements. Will have to take a look at this one.

TMWOG inspired me to create a new original manga, comic and graphic novel
I'd say out of all the Tenchi series to get inspired by, this is probably the best of the bunch! ~ Pokeprof
