My daughter has this diagnosis Hemimegalencephaly as well as Focal corrical dysplasia, ILAE type 2a. Due from misense of the mTOR pathway 😢 She had the hemispherectomy when she finally gained up to the 13lbs.. She was 15months old... but in our state they couldnt operate until til she big enough. Surgery saved her because she went from having hundreds of seizures a day, to just a few smaller break thru seizures every few months. Shes only had 4 grand mals since surgery and had been totally seizure free for well over that entire first year❤ My heart hurts for any families having to endure this with their little ones!!!! It sure is a roller coaster! Never thought Id be a "special needs Mom" but here I am.. Emjoying most of it, though it is hard... I wouldnt trade her for NOTHING. Just often wish I could take the awful seizures for her😢
