Excellent video. Excellent insights. I'm learning about MQ for a job role. This video is better than any first-hand experience I could have stumbled through. Thanks for posting this
Fantastic content. Microsoft over recent years really went back to the end user customer angle and figured what they have that's really good already, what they have that isn't and the gap challenges they couldnt address easily... And they really spliced those learnings into their existing products with polish, embellishments of what they already had.... IBM cognos needs the same treatment, because the period btw about 2012 or so and 2020 or so cognos stopped progressing correctly at a critical time and allowed the competitors to eat it alive, and with the constant product renames, branding issues, and with very little net new to keep up w tableau, qlik, and Ms it was a bad time to be a cognos fan. I think all the push to pump AI w Watson ended up being a huge impediment to Cognos product development... So many companies out there still need their base level analytics/dashboard/reporting needs met and AI wasn't solving those foundational problems... Now over the last few years it seems they are trying to get the Cognos product back on track and it's looking way better. But they still have identity issues with the product to fix... Cubes, FM, data modules, data sets... Dashboarding, reporting.... It's clunky and has developers straddling different products each w fragmented functionality... And honestly a slight nose turned up at the power areas of the product and they are letting them rust... Aka Report Studio, Cubes, data governance... They have a killer tool in report studio and it should be the flagship product for dashboard/report development and it should be first to get all new snazzy features... For casual adhoc analytics by normal users... Reskin report studio to have a lightweight UI but underneath still builds a RS report spec... And cubes... Walking away from transformer and just orphaning it away was such waste of an incredible product... Heck in memory is what the new products are doing and Cognos had it w cubes... I love data modules, but having to do datasets separately for upload to memory is so weird and clunky.... And the centralized cognos connection env is still outstanding... I just wish Cognos product dev was doing more to listen to the fans on the best way to move the product fwd.

Hi, how do we get the graph you created to show the movement from 2022 to 2023 ?
It's on my LinkedIn, linkedin.com/in/ryandolley - I'll pin it to my profile.
