In India, there is a widespread perception that everyone is pursuing engineering or medicine. However, a recent study by the Ministry of Education revealed that the most sought-after course is not engineering or medicine but rather Bachelor of Arts (BA). Despite its popularity, BA courses in India face numerous challenges related to employability, the quality of education, and even discrimination from families and employers. In this video, we aim to address the contradiction between the popularity of the BA course and its subpar quality.

This unemoployment problem is very big in India. I literally have to worry that what if I don't get any Job in future, and I am a 11th grader. Everyone around me was giving me advices on which stream I should choose after 11th grade so that I can get a "Job" . I am preparing for Neet but I want to have a backup plan if I can't crack it. Because I am familiar with the amount of competition there is in competitive exams. And only 1 percent of students get successful and get into there dream college. But what about the other 99 percent?? They also need to earn bread for themselves and their families, and that's where the problem of unemployment comes. I actually want to develop a skill but I just can't choose which skills I should learn for the future. I don't have any prior knowledge about this term as we were never taught about any skills which would help us in future or even the importance of developing skills. Also seeing how fastly the employment level around me is decreasing I just can't help but stress about my future.
I will be really thankful if anyone can suggest me any skill which I can learn that is not of a lot higher level.

    Dear fellow BA graduates,
I initially pursued a BA with dreams of a government job. However, upon completing my degree at Ramjas, I realized it wasn't my path. I ventured into the private sector, starting as a technical sales rep in 2014, working night shifts. Through job switches and skill-building, I became eligible for Dell Technologies in 2016. I excelled, earning promotions and a breakthrough opportunity at Adobe as a program manager. Today, I earn a six-figure monthly salary, surpassing the cost of my entire education from 1st grade to graduation.
The key lesson: No matter your field, expect initial struggles. Focus on honing additional skills for continuous growth.

    Bitter truth is
One of the main reasons of
    Unemployment in India is
    "Preparing for Govt jobs"
    It actually makes students unskilled

    • @revealthinking12345
      @revealthinking12345 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +132

If you are taking preparation for govt jobs, then you are gaining knowledge about Hist, Geo, Science, Maths, GI, GK, CA, Language, Polity, Economics, Computer, and so on...
Then how did you say it makes students unskilled???? Yeah the competition is high but you can't say they are unskilled...

    • @unknownwanderer04
      @unknownwanderer04 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@revealthinking12345 these "when and how babar died?"
Doesn't help you in real life or in jobs
Maybe writing skills helps but that's a completely different thing
Another thing is that govt job preparation doesn't make you a knowledgeable person
For example you know certain things about the Indian economy
But if someone wants some intense writing on some economic theory
They prefer someone having an economics degree
Most of the people who are preparing for government jobs just want to pass their exam
They don't want to gain knowledge
For this they just mugged up things
Which is not at all bad if you want to carck the exam and many people cracked it like this as well
Some upsc aspirants may have some skills
      Which you are talking about
Another thing the term general awareness means
That you are aware of certain things that are happening or happened in the past around you
And there are some differences between "awareness" and "deep knowledge"
But apart from that aspirants have some serious psychological problems
      They prepare for govt jobs
      Failed again,do preparation
Failed again ,do preparation and this cycle continues over and over again
And it becomes a vicious cycle
      I have seen many people
They are unskilled but their salary expectation is sky high
They are in this govt job cycle for 4-5 years
But when they got jobs in the private sectors
They are not happy with starting salaries like 10-15k
Look preparing for govt jobs is not bad
But you have limit your time
That should be maximum 2 years
That after that I will do something else in my life

Then I got a social work degree from TISS and got placement immediately. The issue is in BA you must only go to the best colleges. As to internships, please stop saying a history graduate should do internship in sales. That's a problem of the economy. What is really needed is to create avenues for internship for history graduates to assist historians, museologists, archaeologists, curators, writers; political science students to assist local political parties, campaign agencies etc; geography students to assist geographers, geologists, anthropologists; psychology students to assist psychologist. The problem is that of the economy, not just that of the students.

And what is There to laugh about It?
I have seen students with top ranks taking arts while students with just fine grades take science and they aren't Even Good at It, neither interested. Majority of maths students choose maths due to family pressure and for better career opportunity, not because They are Interested or good at maths
Honestly, When I was in 11th, 12th students used to be most relaxed During maths exams while chem was real fear. Its not because they were good in maths, rather because maths paper used to be easiest as compared to other subjects. And its level was quite low, to the extend that I was quite sure that even my friends who took arts can do it after little bit of explanation.
Now it can be different for different ppl but maths isn't as hard as ppl present it. Yes, u might not be excellent at it but an average student with little bit of interest in maths or Even just interest in money (thinking that only maths can give good earning) can easily do graduation with maths and it won't be any harder than graduation in arts

90% ppl in India cannot "SELL". Often Colleges & Universities don't provide Career planning or Career guidance. More often than not Grads run after few jobs, that too on the basis of simply hearsay, without doing any due diligence themselves.

We need to move away from “Sikhaya nahi jata college mein” to “Maine kya sikha college mein beyond my college curriculum which will help me grow in my career.”

    • @rubydoobydoo
      @rubydoobydoo 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@sakshisonawane6626 That’s how education is everywhere outside India. A lot of focus on what students actually learn rather than “ratta maaro”. Plagiarism tests on assignments. Strict word limit on essays. Final year project showcase. Students work really hard for their GPAs.
We don’t have good teachers in India, and issue with not having good teachers stems from the very root cause that Indian education system has not evolved with time, schools and colleges are understaffed, teachers are underpaid. Their time is utilised on things like Mid Day Meal Distribution & Election Duty. My mom is a school principal. I have seen her struggle.
Coming back to the curriculum. I will cite my own example. I was in CBSE board. I don’t think NCERT did a great job at clarifying concepts. It touches things only on the surface level without going in depth. And like most people, I too come from a really small town. I did not have the access to internet during my school days & I have worked my butt off to move to bigger cities in India to pursue my graduation & masters. Getting a job did not come easy too. I never went home during my studies. I was always interning or freelancing during holidays. Were the professors exceptional in undergrad and postgrad? Nope. We were expected to learn things on our own. They would give us names of books to pick up & read from the library & we had to get back to them on what we understood & learnt. Trust me that has helped me a lot in my journey.
I do agree with you on the part that teachers should make learning enjoyable & understandable to each student as per their learning capability. And at the end of the day there are no bad students, only bad teachers.
But students should also have a “curious keeda” in them. If teachers are incapable to teach in classroom, can platforms like unacademy or physics wallah be of any help? What about college seniors? Can they help out in understanding a particular subject? I feel there are a lot of solutions to one problem. It’s only about figuring out which route to take.

For those afraid of maths, you should start focusing on statistics as it is pivotal for research work. Dont fear if you got poor marks in maths in class X, i barely passed with 38% in CBSE class X maths myself. All you need is conceptual knowledge and the rest is done by statistical softwares like SPSS (trust me on this). There is lots of scope if you are patient enough to devote a few more years beyond graduation. If anyone has any question, reply to me in the comments.

    3. BA is easy and requires less college and class attendance.
    4. Provides proper time and environment to prepare for government eaxm.
    5. Some students do like History, Geography and Humanities.
This is my personal opinion 🙂

Atleast Those BA students are Interested in what they do.
I'm currently doing a CS degree, I joined CS cause i loved Coding since my highschool.
I've noticed most of my peers aren't even interested in CS rather they are interested in those quirky high paying corporate jobs. Most of them even enrolled thinking that CS will make them rich overnight.
Whereas my friends who do BA are creative fellows who actually has a talent and isn't just interested in Money or placements.

I graduated with BA in 2013. My earlier goal was to get into either Law or Civil Services (I come from a family of Lawyers). Speaking of what I did accomplished, I cleared the Prelims twice but due to different reasons couldn’t cleared the mains both the times. Also, cleared IBPS once but lost interest and didn’t wanted to become a Lawyer since everyone in my family is already one and even they wanted me to be something other than an Advocate even if it’s closer to that.
So I did my MBA from Amity University from the money I saved working for 2 years and currently, I am working as Team Lead - HR with one of the largest Real Estate brands in Dubai on a salary I never expected I could make.
Having a BA is one of the best decisions I ever took since it made me stronger in multiple disciplines instead of limiting me to just one specialisation.

I am 32+ (unmarried) & I work in a call center. Pursuing arts is the biggest mistake of my life. I was a good student back in college & loved to read/write i thought i would be able to make a living out of my passion but i failed. Everyday when I take the last local, I feel like jumping out of the moving train. Surely, I lack the guts to even die. Damn!!
This reminds me of a poem i read long time back by Erin Hanson..
They say happiness will find you,
But I think sadness will find you too,
It sneaks up on you in darkness,
Just when you think you’ve made it through...

I would suggest all the fellow BA students to focus on communication English/French, be open to think how you can implement your learnings in the market and try to learn as many computer oriented skills as you can! Students in the field of Economics should focus more on entrepreneurship and computer oriented skills, try to find a problem, then make a solution to that problem and you can capitalise it. The best part about BA is you get so much of spare time to get more skills and hands-on experiences. BA is a sleeping giant.

I scored 94.2 percent in my board exams and then opted for Humanities. I was earlier forced to go to Aakash because like every middle-class Indian parent, mine also wanted to me opt for PCM. But you know, the thing is, this stream is not EASIER as it might seem to others. It's highly comprehensive and bulky plus I have economics and maths to provide a kind of OPTION B SCOPE. Few teachers were like wtf. Plus, CIVIL SERVANTS are supposed to know about our society and history and beliefs not how an engine works. much of the UPSC paper is based on humanities subjects. In fact, humanitarian subjects opposed excessive control of religion over ideas and due to this the scientists were able to circulate their ideas. Humanities wale buddies, you guys can rock. We can be the pillars of a socialist and democratic society. Communication ko develop karne ka scope sabse zyada tumhare paas hai. Love your subjects and be proud:)

Actually problem is that we don't have solid art industry here.
    1. Visual Design industry:
Just look around the banners once you go out for a while, either they are clichéd or they look so cheap and wrong. Same thing in packaging and digital advertising. Things are so bad that if you really see a good ad, then you know it's directed by Tanmay Bhatt.
    2. Exterior and interior: We have lost our glory. And somehow we are trying to copy the west and ending up nowhere. Just look at the Indian cricket stadiums and the colors we choose. Things are truly wrong. You can’t get away such things without the help of expert designers.
    3. Art and entertainment: We do have massive art and entertainment industry, but I doubt B.A. courses teach those stuff. There are some courses but not really popular.
    4. Animation: Lol. We all know what kind of Animation industry we have here. And in the name of Animation teaching, Arena, MAAC are scamming millions of people.
    5. UX: Here companies hire ui and graphic designers for ux stuff. 🙃 Probably only NIFS and some few are good institutions. Otherwise you gotta depend on internet materials, which is even better.

As a B. Tech undegrad, I just want to tell that ones doing BA are not failures in life. You need to be on the right track of your dreams after college life. The pain and suffering of every college student that has to go through right from to admission to placement can't be compared by degree. Some get frustrated and some get motivated but end up getting frustrated but guys don't give up. Either be govt jobs or a business or even engineering you can do it all after BA. Unemployed ones too get work to do although menial but doesn't mean they are bad or their life is bad.
Quality of education must be the same across all degrees to get decent placement then things like internships and startups will be less required and you'll know enough to pursue your aim in life either by self or the place where you're learning.

My biggest learning in the job market as a BA English honours, MA English graduate - diversify your skill set. I started as an editor in the publishing industry, worked in a startup where I not only edited books, I learned how to typeset them, give ideas for book cover designs, book titles, generate leads, manage client communications, marketing, etc. In a short span, I became invaluable for my company and eligible for jobs in multiple roles. Then in my next job in the study abroad industry, I not only did well in catering to A grade students, but equally excelled in handling low grade students and helping them gain best admits. What kept me going apart from my capabilities as an editor was my academic background. Humanities provide you critical thinking abilities to survive in jobs that demand creativity. It provides you the ability to ask right questions and influence people with you informed and unique insights. Majorly my students are engineers who have the technical skills to transform the world but lack critical thinking to bring about such changes that can have a profound impact in the world.

BA MA guys realise too late that degree doesn't give a job (excluding govt jobs) only skills would. Btech grads know it earlier and prepared along with degree so they naturally get the job, and they deserve it.
BA grads really should stop blaming their colleges. They should have atleast tried to learn job relevant skills before graduation.

Its also because lack of proper awareness about various careers and their educational requirements. Hence, a lot of people choose the wrong degree.

The fact that max people take BA is because of competitive exams...then some people take BA as back up after going for neet and stuffs...then some people take BA because they find it easy to pursue....the truth is that BA has nothing to do with the jobs untill and unless it's an healthy degree (i.e. psychology, English etc) BSc and BCom are something required at their respective fields but nothing can be taken out of BA degree..even in psychology...unless a student don't have a master's degree he/she ain't considered for internship...
And I don't really understand why people have to go for coding analysis etc if they'd to pursue BA?? I mean if that's what needed at the end then why not BTech?
I think being a BA student...only if you're clear about why you want to go for BA...go for it...if you expect a high package jobs by pursuing BA in languages anything else...my friend... sorry to disappoint you but you're on a very wrong side...
PS - there's this one student from kirori mal college (Tushar Tanwar) who was Bsc graduate and got CDS AIR -1 last year....(just for facts🙂)

Rule of thumb.. always check what relevant jobs are being offered in the market prior to doing a course.. don’t blindly follow what your parents tell you.. they are not doing any research.. they are merely listening to neighbours and relatives who are equally ignorant..

It's not a wonder that BA students do not get job in most of the companies. In most companies technical work is going on and for what purpose they should select a non technical hand? Can a bus driver do his job without studying how to drive? Can a person do heart operation without studying surgery?

You missed the most problematic thing that is all good companies like tcs, Wipro, HCl, Infosys and every other big company says that a distance Bachelor's degree be it BA,BSC,BCOM etc from IGNOU(the largest open University) is not being considered as a degree at all. Man It took me so much hardwork and study to pass a IGNOU Degree then even after having some great technical skills I have settled for a job in a very less known company as I got rejected by all those top companies many times even after having all experiences and technical skills than those Btech degree nuubras(who buy degrees).
Edit: Due to it's affordability and my financial condition I did a degree from IGNOU.
MAN I HATE THOSE HRs Calling me and rejecting me at the first point without checking my skills. My middle 🤘 goes to these companies
