Materials gathered from my pond during spring
There's a FISH in my ecosphere!
Lots of live already. Will be interesting to see what survives and what thrives!
Technically a paludarium due to the segment of wood above the water
I've uploaded a 4 month update video. Check it out on my channel.
How do I find the update? What happened to the tadpole?
@@francescaoconnor2314 hey, the link is in the description! :)
TheOverlordi thanks!
do you have a youtube channel? I thought that one was a youtube channel but it seems that the youtube channel is not a youtube channel at all,
I'm guessing it's too late now but I would've taken the tadpole out.
I tried my best. He wasnt complying :( there was also hundreds if not thousands of tadpoles in the pond so there was no shortage. Most of them get eaten by my fish anyway.
Love your channel!
Love the jar community here 🤣
I was wondering what happened with the tadpole
I also had a ecosphere whit 2 tadpole in it. They survive every where and I released them afther they became frogs.
I just got this in my recommended, and honestly I can't believe you only have 178 subs right now. I love this video and eagerly await your next update on this ecosphere!
Thanks a lot! Do you have any advise for videos that you want to see from this channel?
Timothy Maitland that’s 1.88k subs lol
Timothy Maitland 4.8k now
Woah, it's only been 9 months and it's 4.22K now.
It's 4.3k now
Make a human ecosphere out of a old bath tub
no, cause then we can't really see it. use a gigantic aquarium with lots of plants in it so it won't suffocate from lacking of oxygen.
@@Alex-qj3wp most humans can't breathe underwater, even if there's lots of plants
@@Thematic2177 wait, you're right. do you think we should give it a gas tank or do you think it'd be best to just get rid of the water altogether? let's figure this out
Yea no sh”t

Did you release the insect nymphs so they could pupate out of water?
You should make a vid where you make a giant thing with all the goods but just a small handful of fish
Love Your Videos Keep It Up
Cool
How many liters is that jar?
Nice
I everything still alive in the jar?
I've uploaded an update video - check it out!
Your 8 month ecosphere comments are turned off. You started with too many plants and large animals. I start with about 1/4 the stuff and let it expand over 4 months to equilibrium. I add a little spring water and garden lime pellets. You need copepods and ostracods to keep the algae down. They are there, but the large creatures ate them all. Way too many plants at start. Start with a few plants and let them grow to equilibrium. Next time add mostly water and less sludge.
thanks for letting me know, the comments should be available now :)

This technically isn't an ecosphere with fish...
click bait
Make test with a human inside glass pot in own ecossystem.
An human dont survive an DAY or weak.
Hahahaha
It’s called solitary confinement
This guy sounds like a vegetarian
those are leeches not slugs ewww
Uhhhh leeches
You definitely have leeches in your pond. Not good for your fish.
Basically click bait. love your channel but....
you baited me; not very nice.
How did you get so many bugs and creatures with like 4 scoops
Do you see how dirty that pond is lol loaded with bacterias and small animals and can grow algae

No fucks to the unknown
Lmao I knew I wasn’t the only one who thought he could just reach with his hand 🤢
Really? This is a garden pond though. I’ve done the same in wild ponds and streams. I don’t think it’s a big deal when you are used to handling aquatic creatures. Most things are too panicked to hurt you. You’d have to watch out for certain things like snakes though.
@@ADTillion too panicked to hurt you? Thats when things hurt you the worst lmao, quit talkin out your buns hun
JH vibes I’d appreciate civility rather than condescension in the tone. Thank you.
That depends heavily on the species. I used the word “most” which means exceptions do apply. Still, It’s just a small pond, not a habitat for anything that risky. I’ve handled aggressive barbed catfish, snakeheads, crabs, turtles, nymphs, etc. Remember, you’ve ruffled up the environment. It’s murky, and they don’t know what’s happening, so their impulse is to escape to a better location. This gives you a window to toss them into a tub, bucket, or plain kill them. Even snakes don’t really attack when they are blinded. (I’ve caught those too, but usually on land)
However, if you just hold them in your hand the entire time, then you’re basically making it clear what the threat is, so they will obviously try to hurt you. It’s down to doing what you saw in the video.
If you corner them and they have awareness of you, then again, depending on species, they will try to fight back. After catching hundreds of aquatic creatures, I’ve not had trouble wading into streams, lakes and such.
For most species, fight or flight response leans towards flight rather than fight. You just have to learn which ones lean towards fight first. You will rarely find the latter in a tiny garden pond. Even among the snakes I’ve come across in streams, all of them fled when the water was disturbed.
U stepped in straight up leech water
Sure did!

I hate leeches, got bitten by them twice.
@@clawyraptor9029 what happens?
@@johnathanfowlds7587 The hell do you mean????
All those worms and leeches and other slithery water things are kinda freaking me out lol.
I can't believe nobody has asked about the tadpole, that will eventually become a frog... is it dead? Or is it still alive and trapped?
Being honest I think that poor tadpole died soon, they need fresh air too
That's what I wanna know 😬I hope he took them out !!
@@nemaun That fresh air part is np. There is more than enough air and a lot of oxygen from plants escape to the air. But once it has grown it has to be taken out.
Thank you for being responsible and returning the fish to the pond
Of course! Im a fish keeper myself, both in the pond and in aquariums. I'm quite knowledgeable and considerate and could never leave that guy in there.
@@FrameNature its still funny that the rest can die but not a fish. ;p
@@davidamajako961 exactly lol
Your kinda weird
I would have eaten the fish.
Kind of ironic how in isolation i would become fascinated with isolating other species.
I thought this was Life in Jars? Until like halfway into the video lmao, I was just aboutta comment about his voice changing
Soon enough there's gonna be a mouse ecosphere.
@Aaron NoneYa that's not in a jar though lol
Check out Hampture- it's close enough
@Aaron NoneYa No, not like that.

I had a bad day and was crying at work and this was so calming thank you so much.
Hey ya emmie. Don't fret about what you can't control.
Great video! Love the cinematography and very relaxing. I'm wondering though is the carbon on the bottom necessary? I was under the assumption that carbon is more so to keep the water clearer and reducing smells, and works best with water running through it. Just curious on your thoughts.
Thank you for this great video! You have a very gentle and calming voice. Keep up the good work!
Cheers bud
Thanks for put the fish back.
just did my eco sphere ... at the beginning it went good, but now the water is turning dark. It still is clear... but dark.... is it because there are not enough waterplants in it?
Plants and avoid South facing windows
he kinda sounds like the red guy from don’t hug me i’m scared, and i’m ecstatic
the only difference is the accent 😭
Does your mum know that you used her washing up bowl and cooking jug lol , nice video , really enjoyed
What if you shake that jar!?😂
So I’m really curious: why did you remove the fish but by the tadpole? I’m surprised it’s not even mentioned.
I did this a while ago and ended up with a bunch of cool stuff, but it had 3 tadpoles. 2 made it and I was able to put them into a tank n they frogs now
FYI the Sagitarria will grow in your pond year round. Be careful as it is invasive in the UK.
Super interesting again. Amazing what you could see when the dust settled
now its a waiting game to see what thrives!
...enjoyed watching it from beginning till the end....
At first I thought this was a stupid idea but when you put the fish back in the pond again I felt relieved
But that’s kinda like “fish abuse”! Fish For Thought (Chris) would hate you now!
The thumbnail and title was a bit clickbaity ibthought it was a long term fish thing instead its just a fish you accidentally put in there very misleading no hard feelings instill like your channel

This video, his accent, his voice, everything in this video is so calming
Anyone know the music used in this video?
After keeping fish etc for over 40 years , I doubt the veracity of such a 'biosphere' to work ... there is never going to be enough oxygen in a closed jar to support animal life , even if the jar was open the surface area would be prohibitive ..... I think this is wishful thinking
Check out my 4 month update. Other people have had them sealed for years. Its an experiment anyway, just see what happens.
Yea I don't think something on such a small scale would work for fish but it can be possible with very small aquatic invertebrates as long as theres sufficient plant/algae life and it receives enough light.
@@whelan1221 i removed the fish
Do with gamer girl bath water
Ecosphere with your own feces
Do u think earth is a ecosphere ?
Since it has live animals get about a 10 gallon so the fish are happy but it's good and thx form being responsible to the life by returning them
There was a single fish, don’t think he really needs 10 gallons it’s a ecosphere not a aquarium a single stickle back will be okay in 2 gallons 😂😂
@@sampearman9572 ok but still would you like to be stuck in one room for the rest of quarantine with nothing to do exactly so a bigger tank would make it happier since it got taken away form home out of nowhere

is there any chance an ecosphere might explode? I noticed there were a lot of decaying material in my sediment, maybe it could produce enough methane to shatter the glas?
As far as I know, no but well it can explode if u leave it in direct sunlight
Bro just made a pickle jar
5:52 what the fuck is that!
Many many NOPES in that jar
Wouldn't they die? Seeing the oxygen would run out.
Photosynthesis my dude
They will slowly die of exhaustion. In fact, there is some plant that producing the oxygen, but not enough ro feed that fish in so small area. This is torturing.

When you say ‘dirt’ do you mean sediment or soil? Or is it just something you regard as undesirable?
Decomposing plant matter from the bottom of the pond
@@FrameNature I was being grumpy because I hate it when soil is referred to as dirt. It's only dirt if it's made your clothes dirty. Otherwise it is the material that supports all life on earth. Don't be ashamed of being English.
U guys are nuts
This might be a stupid question but would it be different depending on where you live? I live in Scotland and was wondering would I get the same results?
Suppose every environment is slightly different no matter where you are.
Get the tadpole out
Why does it sound so sad 🥺🥺
Because it is. It's probably a coffin for anything living in there. Plant matter aside lol
