    Absolutely loved hearing the lower tuning on the timeless timber kit, you always put your kits in jazz tuning, which is totally fine, but it was so great to hear a punchier lower tuning for a change!

    I have a 13x6 Dw/Cravioto snare from around 20 years ago. My favorite

    And the best part is
    No cymbals ! A true demonstration and presentation of drum sounds without the distractions of cymbals

    Tremendous accomplishment. Congratulations. This was some week for you - filled with incredible highs and lows. Drums sound fantastic. Do you know what else sounds fantastic? Your hands! They’re in fine shape! Keep on truckin’ Steve!

      These are what will be comparable to say a Stradivarius violin some day in the future, they'll be a part of history.

    Why do so few drum makers use solid shells? Even the high-end Tama Star and the like are ply -- they don't even offer a solid shell line. With stringed instruments, laminate back and sides are only found on cheap instruments and no serious guitarist will use a laminate acoustic guitar.

      Its a very specific build process, diminishing returns, and drums are different than guitars (where the wood and build matters much more in regards to sound and playing feel).
      Tama now does have a single ply snare in the line uo.

    Do you build 4-5 piece kits? I’d love to have two toms in a custom kit… possible?

    • @stevemaxwelldrums
      @stevemaxwelldrums  ปีที่แล้ว

      All sets are built to order so you can order one with two rack toms etc. All solid steam bent shells and all hand made. Send me an email at vintagedrums@aol.com and I can get you pricing.

      Kit #1 not for sale. But, a standard 3 pc 12/14/18 Craviotto in maple would be $5585. Snare drum is $1250 extra.
