It is a pity that the gates were not open to the public when Mark competed. However it was so cool to say hi to Mark in person after hours and hours watching GTN channel!

Awesome performance as always Mark. Don't know if I didn't hear, but these are the distances: Swim 200 m - Bike 4 km - Run 1 km.
For our race we just did 100m - 2km - 1km
Hi Mark. The grand finale will be held right here in Singapore this weekend (7th May). I am going down to watch the event on site. The grand finale in Singapore will also mark the first as all three disciplines will take place outdoors (200m swim, 4km bike and 1km run).

I used to train at the olympic pool and do swimming galas there as well, I miss the galas not the training also much prefer a short course pool to a 50m one.

What’s the game they are doing the virtual triathlon on

Its a great format but technical issues have to be cut out. yes they happen but....if they want it in the olympics...can't have it happening.
I’m probably the only person who doesn’t like super league racing. What happened to standard ITU racing? I understand virtual racing with zwift but the whole reason I got in to triathlon was the aspect of being able to race outside in the standard swim, bike, run format 🤷♂️
No, I’m with you. I think the shorter format is cool as a little side event, but doing it on indoor trainers and treadmills is just silly.
It’s not replacing ITU racing (or long course) though. It’s a great way to widen the sports appeal, make it more exciting for the layperson to watch and more attractive to the general public. Sports that don’t do this and remain stuck to tradition wither and die!

Sorry but the acting at 0:30 - 1:00 was terrible :D I don't think anyone believed that 'surprise'. Good comedy though!

Doors were opened to the public at 3pm. Competitions started at 10am. In the final race the Aquatics Centre was full.
Frustrating to see the emphasis on the mens triathlon by the presenter. Also good save, he almost said I might get beat by a girl… and changed it to world class athletes. 🤷🏻♀️
Sorry, but I disagree. The only reason shots of the men's race were shown at the end is because that is how timings worked. By the time I had finished my race and moved all our kit, we were already half-way through the women's. It was a quick turnaround between all events. I made sure to shout out to the winners, and discuss how exciting the racing had been. They were all equally amazing to watch.
Obviously my "being chicked" comment is tongue in cheek. I have absolutely zero shame in being beaten by women, and I think that was quite clear
Thank you for responding. I appreciate on social media you may get numerous comments of differing levels of opinion. I was aware from your manner, tone and timing of words that you were being ‘tongue in cheek’. I’m guessing GTN wouldn’t allow anything other. I was merely making a point based on the entire episode. Timings I understand to an extent given the fast paced nature of the event, but I disagree with that overall. A well placed go pro would have sufficed. Lastly, I don’t doubt your equality shown by congratulating the female winner at the end either but the overall emphasis was the men even the manner in which you signed off to head towards the mens event.
Possibly because he can relate to them and that would actually be his competition, even though he would get blown out of the water by the women too. I'm sure Heather would get more excited about the women's racing then the men so don't get frustrated from one of the best thought out channels on TH-cam.

Oh my word, the terrible 'bits' continue to invoke cringes. Not only do you not need them, they remove from the integrity of the channel. I know they're only meant to be a bit of 'fun' but like dad jokes, they get old very quickly. I was looking forward to watching this though despite the "oh I didn't see that coming" bit.
