I haven't watched one of your videos for close to two years. Had some "life happenings" and stopped cardmaking. This video popped up in my feed today. It was like hearing an old friend. I am working up the courage to get back into cardmaking again. I was previously learning Copic coloring from you. So here I go again! Thank you so much for doing these videos Kelly.
Beautifully done again! Btw..... sharing your driving anxiety makes me feel normal. Mine has gotten so much worse now that I’m older. When we were gearing up to move from CO to FLA.... I was freaking out because I didn’t want to drive. I can’t see well at night... add to that any rain... and I’m done. As it turned out.... because of various delays my hubs did all the driving and I’m eternally grateful. Now that we’re in FLA.... the drivers here scare me to death... so crazy ... fast... rude... will cut you off and leave you on the side of the road crazy....so I have yet to drive on the hwys. So far I’ve refused. But...... so good to know I’m not alone! Whew! My story time is done. You’re welcome! 💕🙋♀️🏝🤪
Interesting how you were able to color so nicely with the chisel nib on the Nuvo markers. I have Copics and almost never use the chisel nib. I like that Copic color combo. I’ll try it! Thanks for sharing the project and the stories.
Ya, I definitely like the copics better. Someone complimented me on my coloring recently and asked me if I had taken classes. Although I did take a couple of classes years ago, I attribute most of my learning about Copic coloring to you. Thank you!
It was great of you to do this comparison for us! I am hesitant to get into the copics because of the price so it is super to know that I can maybe start with a less expensive brand without losing the picture.
These are so lovely. I do very basic coloring when it comes to using Copics, but they make me look good. I have a few Nuvos, but I haven't had a chance to use them yet. Regarding the driving anxiety, I totally understand how you could relate it to your sister's accident. I'm glad to know that no one was hurt. I had a guy committed suicide by walking in front of my car while I was doing 65 on the freeway. I had my adult daughters with me, and we were all changed by what happened that night. Physically we were okay, except my daughter hit her knee and my hands were cut by the glass from the windshield. Emotionally, though, it's not been so great. We have driving anxiety issues like you do, but we force ourselves to get behind the wheel. Driving means independence, so all I can tell you is to concentrate on that, drive defensively, and do what's best for you and yours. It's great you have support and understanding by your family. *big hugs*
I like the comparison and how the blue/yellows are so close. I do love the copic one best and that is my go to for markers. Sounds like an awesome trip and after last nights video by Eric I can see why your friends love him.
I love the stamp. I too was a late driver (19) , my friend was in a very bad accident in my teen years so I was scared too. I my self was in a very bad accident when I was 25 and needed to be cut from my 1st brand new car (1 month old) and then 6 months later my older sister was killed driving herself home drunk from a party( no one but the tree she hit was hurt). So I am a very careful driver now. I don't have driving anxiety, but I do get panicky with sirens, can't watch a parade to this day. I think we all have our thing that makes us uncomfortable. Glad you have your own chauffeur now.
So exciting to see the comparison! :) Love both, the different marker brands have their own properties even if they are under the umbrella alcohol markers! :) I use Copics with ShinHans Touch Twin brush markers and I get some awesome blending of colors by doing that! :) It seems like your anxiety for driving comes from the accident with your sister and it's always good to try and recognize where anxiety and that kind of stuff roots from! At least thats my opinion! :) Have quite many anxieties myself that I'm trying to find the root for but it's not always easy... That's awesome, Eric! :) He is a true keeper! Not everybody sees anxiety the "right" way... Hugs!
Both cards are beautiful. Just so you know, that driving anxiety will continue to get worse and your world, as you drive it, will get smaller. I'm so glad you have a good man to be your partner.
My interstate driving anxiety is probably because I can’t control how other people drive. It’s definitely a real thing. I am Heading to Charleston, SC the end of next week with 2 of my sisters and I’m anxious already!
Nice cards as always. I think both look great. Brush nibs are much easier to blend with. I too have driving anxiety so I understand the struggle. I love that Eric is so understanding and helps you. My husband also has anxieties driving and I used to drive everywhere as I was a bit better about forcing myself to do things that were out of my comfort zone but now he drives me everywhere. It means so much to me knowing that he does it for me when he wouldn't even be driving somewhere for himself if he didn't have to.
Kelly, I have driving anxiety too. It started as an adult. It’s only gotten worse as I have aged. I have a lot of problems making left turns. You’re the only other person I know of besides myself who has this “challenge”. 😬 Love your stories.❤️
You could have been talking about me. I have so much driving anxiety, will go blocks out if my way to avoid left turns or to be sure there is stop light. Missed a lot during my grandkids growing up because of this. The older I get the worse it gets but now that husband can no longer drive I have no choice.
Both are beautiful!!! Are there really people who do NOT like story time? I love to watch you color and love to listen to your stories...thanks for sharing!
One day I was talking to a new friend of mine explaining my hobby. She then told me her cousin owns a stamp company. I said what company and she stared to say, "Paperrrr"...I cut her off and excitedly said, "PAPER SMOOOOOCHES???" HAHAH she put me in touch with Kim...love Kim, so kind. Awesome cards as usual!!!
Love the cards 😊. When I read the title of your video and nothing else...I could already see a difference. The colors couldn’t have been any closer a match. I just felt the card with the copics was more vibrant. I hear you about driving anxiety. I had my nursing license before my drivers...I road a bike everywhere. I drive because I have to, not because I want to. 🤷🏻♀️
Well, add me to the driving anxiety group. I was OK until I was near 50 years old. Then I had some super high stress years, and the driving anxiety appeared at that time. When you think about it, moving at that speed is not a normal thing for humans, so it's no wonder it can cause anxiety. Doesn't help that they keep raising the highway speed limits. I think I'd do better at 55mph like the good old days. Anyway, I'm sorry others have this problem, too, but feels good to know I'm not alone.
Hey Kelly! Both cards are beautiful! You did really great picking out copics to match the Nuvo markers! I love both cards and I loved the blues you used around the images! You really are an awesome artist Kelly! Btw...my husband has “rider” anxiety! He can’t handle not being the driver! Two days after our oldest got her drivers permit she drove our car thru a building. They actually got out of the car inside the building! Neither of them was hurt at all but it sure shook all of us up! Anyway have a great week! 💜
So glad you did this comparison!! I have the full set of Nuvo markers but have really struggled with them! I am going to try your combos and see how I get on!! Thank you as always for the inspiration!! You are so talented, thank you for sharing!! Sending love from the UK! 😁
I may be wrong but I think the reason why copics cost more is because of the pen design, (brush nib, barrel etc.) and not the alcohol ink inside. I think most of the cheaper alcohol markers that are made have the exact or very similar ink properties. The blend looks about the same on both pieces but it’s just overall easier to blend copics because of their brush nib. I must say , there’s so many companies coming out with alcohol markers and they all just seem the same. your video was a great comparison. Erik seems like such a great guy!
Kelly, I love the video and I have driving anxiety as well. It steals so much time and happiness from me because I take the long way anytime I need would have had to take the highways/expressways. It has gotten worse as I've gotten older too, I'm 32 now and I have panic attacks when my husband drives in Chicago. I remember learning to drive, and my dad just taking me onto the highway and I wasn't prepared and started crying until we could get to an off ramp. I'm so glad Eric was able to be with you for the drive!
I’m the same way with driving, and it’s a little worse as I’m getting older since I can’t see as well at night. I often just pray as I drive since I live in the boonies and driving a half hour to get anywhere is pretty typical. Thankfully, my husband likes to drive. 😉
I love them both! The Copic is definitely brighter but they both make fabulous cards! I have anxiety when driving too...especially when there are semis on the road...those trucks terrify me! Eric is a sweetheart....and definitely a keeper!
beautiful cards. i think i will stick with my spectrum noir, which also have a bullet tip. i think it's all in what you get used to. as for driving anxiety, i don't have it, but both my youngest do - their school friend and her mom were killed in a snowstorm in VT about 4 weeks after Emily got her license. Emily wasn't driving, but it scared their whole class.
I have driving anxiety, too. However, it is opposite of yours, I have no problem driving but I freak out when someone else is driving. I’ve had major anxiety attacks when I’m a passenger. I’m better if I sit in the back seat. It’s an awful feeling.
Kelly, I'm doing a Video Hop on 11th May, If you are interested in taking part, I made a video yesterday explaining how to get in touch. Would love to have you join us!
Thanks for this review, I have the whole collection of the Nuvo Creative Pens and absolutely adore them. They are amazingly easy to use and get a great blend. I always love your story time videos, oops I mean coloring videos...lol Glad you got a weekend with your crafting tribe!
So beautiful! Thank you for your video, Kelly! I would love to see you using more the Nuvo markers (for example colouring skin and hair). I am new to alcohol markers and I have recently started collecting the Nuvos.
I like them both. They both blend well. The brush nib works best for me but I would absolutely recommend these for someone learning or who doesn't have a ton of cash to invest in supplies.
Love the coloring! I just used your Copic Suggestions to add to my Copic Collection. As an aside, I had a semi run a red light right in front me as I was making a left hand turn once. I was 18 or 19. I still can't handle being by a semi on the road...even when my husband is driving!
Beautiful Kelly! Thanks for the comparison, I was in a car accident 13 years ago....im horrible in a car now...if i can see in the mirrors...was rear ended.. I start screaming...the car behind us is gonna hit us....its awful. So stressful....
I am a nervous driver too, I'm okay in my comfort zone, any where else just forget it. I had an accident last year, I was hit by someone running a red light., It's taken a long time to get my confidence back. Nice cards too.
I have a bunch of those markers and had no idea they were alcohol markers, I will have to get them out and play. I love that stamp also. I to have driving anxiety, I don't know why. I use to drive all over the place then BAM one day I couldn't do it, but the anxiety didn't stop there, now I don't leave the house much just hate being out. Anyway, thanks for sharing.
Kelly I have heard there is very effective therapy that deals with anxiety such as you described. You may want to pray about checking it out with a counselor . I will be praying for you as I know anxiety of any type is difficult. I know perfect love casts out fear and I know God does not give us a spirit of fear but of love power and a sound mind. How do I know this? Because I had much anxiety in my life over various things and was looking for relief. I appreciate your candor and transparency! P.S. Beautiful coloring as usual!
Hi Kelly, sorry I’ve been out of the loop lately! Hearing ur voice and stories make me so happy! Especially since ur found a super nice guy! I have missed all ur stories about peanut! Thanks for sharing ur comparison, anything ur color with any medium I’d gorgeous!! 😊💗 BUT DID I Hear u say Copics are going up in price AGAIN???😱😱😱
Thanks Kelly. I purchased the entire set of nuvo markers and sadly because of stroke I have weakness in my hand and mostly all the caper very difficult. I cannot grasp the tiny skinny cap and remove any of the caps at all. Not good for people with hand disability.
Both cards are stunning Kelly. And thank you for the side by side comparison, it was both interesting and informative. But in my opinion the copics card is just richer and has more depth probably because of the richness. They are both lovely and no doubt you should send them to someone. I can send you my address 😂 Love you guy and God bless you and Peanut ❤ XOXO
As always, another pretty creation! I wonder...is there any artsy-fartsy medium You CAN'T use & turn an ordinary thing into a wonderful something? Such inspiration 🎨 Happy Crafting & much Love!
Beautiful...wish Nuvo markers were around when I invested in a nearly full set of Copics. ( could have paid for retirement and I am not an alcohol marker fan🥴)
Beautiful Cards! Love story time too. I'm glad you don't forget your girlfriends. Eric sounds like a hunk-o-burnin' love. Good guy~thoughtful and considerate. Yay You! Thanks for sharing. xo
I tried to guess at the start which was which and what do you know, i actually got it right. Yeeeaaaahhhhh. Kelly flower, having a healthy respect for what other drivers can and do do is a good thing, remember that. Yes now that you are a mother, you are a bit more respectful of the sheer bunch of idiots and people that seem to have a death wish on them, but that doesn't make you a bad driver, just a very cautious one. I wish there was a magic cure that could eliminate your fear, but there's not my flower, but you keep pushing at those boundries. And hey, lets face it, if you had the choice of going yourself and driving for hours with no company, it is a lonnnnngggggg road. Who wouldn't say yes to the handsome Greg offering to drive them and have good company at the same time? Mmmmmmhhh mmmm, no contest. I wonder if he would do it for one of your nutty Scottish friends? Hee hee hee. You work so very hard flower and you need to have a space in time for being an adult and having fun in all it's forms. Glad you enjoyed seeing your friends again. It's funny how you can not see a friend for long enough and you just pick up from where you left off at the last meeting of minds( might be crazy minds but hey that's what makes every day a joyful one, isn't it.) Sending crafty hugs from your Scottish nutty friend to you and Peanut. x
First off, beautiful cards! I too, have driving anxiety, mine started at a young age. Riding with a drunk parent and almost plowing into a car stopped at a traffic light, if it wasn’t for me yelling “stop” I know I wouldn’t be here to watch this video. I have been in a couple minor accidents (I wasn’t driving) & had a car plow into our house inches from coming thru my window (kid was so drunk and drugged up (yes, he survived, but I don’t know how) which hasn’t helped. I was also a late bloomer on getting my drivers license, I just had no desire to drive (and still don’t) and the older I get the more I hate going anywhere with a lot of traffic. Thanks again for sharing your talent with us.
I haven't watched one of your videos for close to two years. Had some "life happenings" and stopped cardmaking. This video popped up in my feed today. It was like hearing an old friend. Absolutely beautiful! I appreciate the comparison. Have a great week.
Wondering about the markers! Thanks😁👍
Beautiful!! Both are amazing!
They both turned out beautifully. I have never gotten my license due to anxiety. I do understand. Thankfully Eric was there for you. That's blessing.
Interesting how you were able to color so nicely with the chisel nib on the Nuvo markers. I have Copics and almost never use the chisel nib. I like that Copic color combo. I’ll try it! Thanks for sharing the project and the stories.

Um excuse me but who the heck hates story time!?
ugh....people :(
@@KellyTaylorCards yeah "ugh" people is right! Lol
Beautiful Cards! Love story time too. I'm glad you don't forget your girlfriends. Eric sounds like a hunk-o-burnin' love. Good guy~thoughtful and considerate. Yay You! Thanks for sharing. xo
Are we gonna get a tattoo story time!?!
It's funny how you can not see a friend for long enough and you just pick up from where you left off at the last meeting of minds( might be crazy minds but hey that's what makes every day a joyful one, isn't it.)
Sending crafty hugs from your Scottish nutty friend to you and Peanut. x
Eric is a keeper. I have driving anxiety and my husband just doesn't understand. Always love your cards.....and stories.
The image with nuvo markers looks nice, but copics are Copics. Btw your voice sounds very sexy, sorry for the compliment
