Calm Down Centers: Creating a Safe Classroom Environment for Your Students

Special Education teacher Ashley Ortiz explains how she creates a safe classroom environment by having her students use a Calm Down Center to self-regulate and deal with their emotions. Ms. Ortiz can be seen teaching the procedure for using this area of her classroom as well as explaining the benefits of having students proactively deal with their emotions. Students can be seen taking responsibility for their social emotional learning as they use the classroom calm down center and become self-aware of their emotions.
