Aerodynamics, Safety concerns, and not always the easiest to work on! They definitely look cool, I enjoy seeing them rolling down the road but don’t see many nowadays.
Cab overs came about because of regulations on total truck and trailer length. They were never fuel efficent due to aerodynamics. Also, even with air ride suspension they were a beast on riding/driving in, further drivers were sick of having to crawl into the sleepers. Though COE's having advantages especially in turning rad, making local or operations were your drop and hooking a lot or bumping a lot of docks a day.
The reason they got rid of cab overs was yes of course safety was one of them the other biggest reason was to try to lift the cab up into the air to actually do maintenance that was the other main issue
The other reason involves length regulations have increased. Honestly even when I was learn how to drive semi's on 18 wheels of steel I did not like driving cabovers I'm use to having a long nose on my rig instead of a short.
“The large carriers that purchased cabovers, switched over to the conventional style rig, and the bottom rapidly fell out of the market for them in North America”. This led to the eventual halt of all COE manufacturing in North America.
As a diesel tech. The bearings are located inside the hubs. You can't spray them to get them to move because there's a seal on the inner part of the hubs and bearings are internal. Good rp but just some help in that aspect. You also couldn't move the truck if it wouldn't start because there's no air available to release the breaks to get it to roll. You would have to drag it and that's always a good way to move them. Hope this helps when you make another rp like this one. The trucks look good. Waiting for the tlx semi tow truck mod to release. Would be a good asset to your heavy haul company. The COE trucks were discontinued due to safety reasons and were developed because overall vehicle length restrictions. The reason behind the discontinuing of those vehicles were because the cab had no protection from frontal accidents and the roof was basically just a piece of sheet metal. The COE design offered great access to the engine and drive line but the hydronic cab lifts were not as reliable and manually using the on board jack to lift the cab was more efficient. COEs also offered wider cab room and full bunks with plenty of room to move around. Again down fall was the flat nose. Aerodynamics were not a factor when these were developed and nor were fuel efficiency. There wasn't much room from the driver and the objects during a frontal collision and oftentimes the cabs would disconnect from the chassis or crush like a tin can. Alot of these trucks can be found on farms due to the turning radius and affordability. No COEs are in operations with big company's because there expencive to run and repair. Most likely seen as owner operators but again rare trucks. I've seen 5 in my 30 yrs and 4 were in farm fields rotting away like this rescued truck and 1 pulling a Wilson grain trailer.
Back in the 50s/60s us dot made a rule that you could only have a truck so long and a lot of trucks (conventionals) were too long so they made the best thing ever: cabovers! This is a late 80s-early 2000s pete 362 I have it on console nice video man oh I forgot the length was extended in the 90s and bottomed out in the 2000s and most cabovers disconnect here In america I’m 2006-2010 but the freightliner argosy went till 2020
Cabovers went out of style because of comfort they were too dangerous to drive cause if u got in a wreck you were right on top of the wreck an fuel mileage wasn’t good on them
They made cabovers because they made the trailer regulation shorter and the nose of a regular semi was to long so they made the semis different. After a while they made the trailer regulation longer so nosed semis came back.
A big problem that cabovers have from my dads experience its very annoying that everything inside falls onto the windshield when you have to tilt the cab
Cabovers came into style when the government regulated trucks to 65 feet in length so they made cabovers so they can shorten the length of the trucks and once they deregulated truck lengths the cabovers went out of style since truckers just like the conventional style more
the reason why companies dropped cab-overs is because the body of them is so flat that it just catches the wind making it use more fuel to travel whereas the standard semi is more airodynamic making it more fuel efficient.
In North America, they are considered an old school style of semi truck. Cabovers have a “flat-faced” look to them. They gained a lot of popularity between the 1940's and 1970's because it was possible to utilize more cargo space by reducing the Bumper to Back of Cab (BBC) ratio.
The reason the got rid of it was bc of ssftey and when they would be serviced the would have to tilt the cab of which would cause everything in the cab to fall on to the windshield which would most of the time Crack or even bust out the winshield
Cab overs r super cool, but yea I understand the safety problems tho. Gosh dang, TheFormalPickle needs more subscribers man. I thuaght he had more than that. One day it will happen (:
Sup pickle and fang I find out why the cab over semi truck where no more of vibration issues to the truck driver and safes reasons and there loud noises they make when going on the road I see you restoring old cabover semi truck suck not seeing on the road and highways and city’s or county’s
I Believe that the reason they got rid of cabovers is because they had a One it for the size of all trucks and then they extended the limit so other trucks came tobe and they didn’t use them anymore so they went out of style
One of the reasons is that they got rid of the cabovers is because they didn't think it was very safe to be going down the road and you sitting on top of the engine and if you broke down they thought that there was no way to get to the engine unless you like actually lifted up the top part of the cab
Cabovers we’re created when the government put a restriction on wheel base for the semis and once the restrictions were lifted the cabovers got phased out
It was when the length of a truck allowed was the reduced to 65 ft and cabovers, cabover engine is more money, but when they were back to 75 ft, the kinda left, if U want more info, go checkout donut Media's up2speed Peterbilt episode
I drive a Peterbilt Cabover they never got rid of them they just retired them because newer trucks in the world was changing I still Hall grain with it where I live
The mod does not support rust look or anything plus it's a all platforms mod but maybe he could of used the dirtynater another mod which is like the pressure washer in game but makes vehicles dirty.
Meanwhile Kenworth slaps all its american fans in the face by making a brand new K200 while the K100 was the longest selling cabover in america Scania Longline is a ridiculous machine aswell
The Cabovers saw that they had truck haters in America, something about safety. So, they teleported themselves down under (or at least that’s what the Kenworth’s did) They are still made here too, the K200.
Too many new drivers and they wouldn't drive a cabin ..I cut my teeth in a 98 International cabin over ..loved the ol girl we made a hell of a lot more money than this ol Freightliner Classic I'm drivin now
Aerodynamics, Safety concerns, and not always the easiest to work on! They definitely look cool, I enjoy seeing them rolling down the road but don’t see many nowadays.

They discontinued the cab over’s because it was to dangers and the engine was right underneath you.
The best part
You're right on the money sir
They also went out of style because of the length limit. They used to have a shorter length limit but over time it was lengthened.
But In the uk they still have them
@@brickmaster7111 literally every country except america (maybe austrualia too) has them

just keep the one series with the squad in 2000's
I would love to see more American trucking simulator love it!
Cabovers came into style when the government regulated trucks to 65 feet in length so they made cabovers so they can shorten the length of the trucks and once they deregulated truck lengths the cabovers went out of style since truckers just like the conventional style more
They stopped making cabovers because the flat front slowed the truck down, so that's why they started making aerodynamic trucks.
Those trucks are Beautiful
I really love your videos, after this series could you do ATS?
Keep up the good work
the reason why companies dropped cab-overs is because the body of them is so flat that it just catches the wind making it use more fuel to travel whereas the standard semi is more airodynamic making it more fuel efficient.
And yet a Volvo cabover will use less fuel than a 379 🤷♂️
That crazy
Got discontinued because the motors were catching on fire so they discontinued it for safety, but I want one and my dad does
Hi

What Cabover Is DT Using
So they stopped making Cabovers because the length restrictions
Hi pickle love you’re vids
In Australia kenworth still make’s cab overs🇦🇺
So does freightliner
Cab overs r super cool, but yea I understand the safety problems tho. Gosh dang, TheFormalPickle needs more subscribers man. I thuaght he had more than that. One day it will happen (:
Love your videos man.. you're one of the ppl that got me into fs keep up the great content 👌🏾💯😁

Well have you been working on the console rp Jake? You better have not been lying to me.
They got rid of cab overs because if you don't latch the cab and you hit the breaks to hard the cab will flip
I Believe that the reason they got rid of cabovers is because they had a One it for the size of all trucks and then they extended the limit so other trucks came tobe and they didn’t use them anymore so they went out of style
They also stopped making them because it was dificult to get in and out of them and people just liked the conventional style cab.

You do know that if the air not pressure build up the break are what not
Letting the wheel spin freely
Cabovers were very bouncy because your riding in the front axle.
I seen an old kenworth cabover yesterday
Cab Overs Stoped Being Made Becuse the Top were The Driver Sits Would Just Rip Off the Frame so all you would see is The Engine
they stoped making cabovers (one resson) cause they wern't selling cause they didn't do good fuel millage.
Hello! You should bring back karen. It would be quite funny to have Karen in fs22
name game ?
My uncle had a 1984 Peterbilt Cabover with a Cat 3406 engine in it
Cabovers we’re created when the government put a restriction on wheel base for the semis and once the restrictions were lifted the cabovers got phased out
Were* sorry autocorrect
We own a 1962 GMC flat bed cab over
Because if you crash healed or straight away head-on collision
Cabovers disappeared due to bridge laws. Notsomuch in Aus though. Can still buy brand new Kenworth, Volvo, scania cabovers

Some of the reasons posted are amusing 😄
Can you put the maps you play on in the description?
Another Tip use a dirty neither mod help
I drive a Peterbilt Cabover they never got rid of them they just retired them because newer trucks in the world was changing I still Hall grain with it where I live
If there was a fire then it would be harder to get out and if the cab fell on the Mechanic it would be in the hands of the owner of the semi
There is a new dogde for you what look like the one you had in f19
Because the engine is underneath the seat
Hello pickle
cab length was made bigger and it wasn't total unit length
hi jake sorry I’m late
Could have at least made the old truck look dirty. (maybe the mod does not support those textures?) Love your videos, anyways! :P Keep it going!
The mod does not support rust look or anything plus it's a all platforms mod but maybe he could of used the dirtynater another mod which is like the pressure washer in game but makes vehicles dirty.
You sound like the backyard scientists
There was a big wreck there was a Prius in camo Wars In it And there were a bunch of Cowboys over and they all ran and they hate each other
love
They got rid of cabovers cuz of safety and it was uncomfortable to ride in them
wish i could find a server to join
Cab overs are unsafe because fatal collision in the front
Its a ken Peter does not make cab over
Hi :)
What map is that?
what map is that
WHERE IS MORE!!!!!
eu is cabover world
The true reason has to do with federal length law.
What is the map

As my father always said : Cab over= first on scene….. if you know what I’m saying…
Because people jump out of them
costing less to the company in terms of fuel.
The Cabovers saw that they had truck haters in America, something about safety. So, they teleported themselves down under (or at least that’s what the Kenworth’s did) They are still made here too, the K200.
