Avios has designed a beautiful twin-engine Albatross HU-16 flying boat. What could be better than a large monohull flying boat gracing the skies or taxing across a lake? This excellent plane is made of strong EPO foam and comes with scale plastic fittings for an extremely realistic look. It is painted in a US Navy rescue scheme of seagull gray, yellow and white for easy visibility under all conditions.
The Albatross HU-16 came into service with the United States Air Force in 1949 and primarily designed as an amphibious plane for search and rescue missions. It was extensively used for combat search and rescue in both the Korean War and the Vietnam War. As an amphibian, it could land on both land and open sea and was optimized for 4-foot (1.2 meters) seas but could land in heavier seas.
The Albatross is well powered by twin Aerostar 3536-850KV motors with scale 3-blade 10x6 propellers. The 30A reversing ESCs make it easier to navigate around the water. The addition of a water rudder makes maneuvering on the water even easier. The built-in flaps provide plenty of lift and make landings and takeoffs look easy. The Albatross provides a great presence in the air that will look outstanding at any time and can easily do scale passes that all enthusiasts enjoy.

Yes, i agree. And i'm pretty sure that the first crash was also a stall. Most of the time way too slow. The signal loss probably happend after the crash.
I own this plane and let me tell you she needs speed in the turns or it falls like a brick!
@@TobbeArnesson hadn't had a crash or brown out in 9 years. Was gifted the orange RX the new one with the non articulating antenna. Locked out on my old hangar 9 p51 pts mkll heavily modified with an O.S. 61 at about 100mph 6 feet in front of me.
Very next flight same thing with a new receiver thinking that was my issue.
Two old balsa planes that are impossible to find because I wanted to use my gift.
When I was going through the settings after the second crash the scroll button broke.

@@PetrincicBrosRC could that have been sagging power due to cold lipo? As an aside I fly my Albatross on half flap all the time now ... apart from being a bit slower (more realistic) the stall is more gentle. I stalled/spun mine on the maiden flight (flaps up) while trying to get it trimmed out. Many happy flights off grass and water (but never snow!) since then :-) Happy New Year to you and your family!

There were a couple of HU-16s at Goose Bay, Labrador when I was stationed there during 1972-3. One of them was serial 10065, shown in Squadron-Signal’s “HU-16 In Action” book. They were used to take people to fish camps. Neither of them crashed as far as I know. Sorry about your misfortune with this one. However, Mrs. P is a great fill in for Capt. Blaz. Have a better and prosperous ‘21!

Pilot Robert I must say you guys have one of the best channels out there buddy! That said airspeed to low and turn to steep resulting in a stall! As was mentioned earlier you were a little pre-occupied on this one. Get it back up soon. Foamies always look worse off than they actually are when it comes to repairs and we've all been there. Easy fix!

I love RC planes and I love your channel just as much if not more. I finally got my pilot license and real planes are much easier, thankfully. One cardinal rule in real airplanes is never bank greater than 20 degrees in the traffic (landing) pattern. I bought this rule back to RC and I really think it is a good safety blanket. If you do the math on low, slow and banked; it is amazing they don't go down more often. Thank you all for my favorite channel.

Awwww too bad you got a signal loss. It was flying beautifully. What the heck eh? What more could we ask for? An amazing pilot, a nice aircraft, a sweet lady on the camera, and a nice winter scene with the snow. All to end the year, and in two hours for me it will be 2021, and by now you are already there. My wife would never stand out there and watch me fly in the winter. You can tell she loves you very much. I wish I had left the pontoons on my Beaver so I could fly it right now. We do not have very much snow right now. Happy New Year!

Something must be wrong with that tree, is often that direction for a signal loss. But nevertheless - Happy new year!!!
That's telling. Telling them that their "normal" antenna placement is wrong.
Most likely solved by re learning the proper placement or buying a sattelite receiver.

Everyone always blames the radio. The give away was when you mention that it alway happens in the same spot. Turning from base to final leg at low throttle. I try to keep at least 1/3 throttle till I’m on final. Hope that might help with future landings. Happy New Year
