- Next month, voters will head to the polls in the local elections and Rishi Sunak will face another by-election test in the marginal constituency of Blackpool South.

It’s been called after the former Conservative MP there, Scott Benton, quit over his involvement in a lobbying scandal. Polls suggest that Labour will win the seat, but all eyes are on who might take second place.

Reform are just the party of millionaires with a different hat on. They don’t care about actually improving the lives of working brits, only keeping us distracted fighting amongst ourselves with immigration and culture wars nonsense while the super rich carry on getting richer and more powerful off our growing poverty. You’ve just got to look at all the top figures in the party, they’re all prep school boys who then made fortunes in finance.

I was a Blackpool Councillor and remember the BNP and UKIP did well in Blackpool South over many years. I agree with Channel 4 that Reform could well come in second place

I lived in Blackpool South for nearly 20 years. The time under the Tories was by far the worst! Gordon Marsden did his best to fight when you had Scott Benton standing outside betting shops promoting gambling for the local economy of 8 of the 10 most deprived wards in the country!!!

In all fairness, Las Vegas is 10 times the price. Many cannot afford to goto Vegas, the flight alone is £700 - £800. I love Blackpool, had many good holidays there. Unfair to compare them.

Historically a Conservative seat, prior to 1997 it was always conservative even in 1945 and 1966. I think it will be an interesting seat and the distance between the three parties will tell us all as to if we are on course for both a Labour landslide and also for Reform to surge in the popular vote.

The Tories do very well from the jobless. A big core of their vote are lazy.
Apparently Blackpool is one of the poorest and worst places to live but the tories have made it worse. Like everywhere else it's all about greed. I work long hours for good money but I don't like privatisation. Work for the nhs and get paid more than a private healthcare company. People don't understand that they shove massive impossible workloads onto staff with lack of resources and they penny pinch from contracts, bully staff to breaking point and its all about profit and the ones at the top winning awards etc. Been there done it and went back to the nhs.
As a limited company why are Reform even allowed to say they are a political party!? I hate the tories but no company should be allowed to run for office! Not only that but the Reform party only has 3 members! It has subscribers that pay but have no say in the so called political "Party" goings on! Roll on the GE and we get the tories out and reform fasil also!

UK has no middle ground in politics.
It's not 'huge' for a lifelong Tory to vote Labour if Labour basically adopt all the same policies as the Conservatives to make that happen. The 'huge' movement has been Labour's move to the right.

Im 38 as a kid blackpool was awsome the lights tge park the beach it was a lovely day out went back around 5 years ago drugs, litter, everythings closed down and run down it was a sad to see.
I mean, he clearly is a very empathetic man and does something wonderful for his local area. I wish he'd asked what it is about reform that he really believes in, I'd be really interested in knowing that.

The Blackpool landladies voted for Thatcher, and then moaned when 4000000 of her regular customer lost their jobs were on benefits and couldnt afford to go to Blackpool on holiday,while the prosperous south went abroad for theres .

This is by election 16 - and this is going to make 15 which demonstrated that there's little appetite for the Conservatives to be trusted. I would be certain of one thing. Out of that 16 it's a clear point that it's going to be unpopular time. For the Conservatives and also for Reform UK as well. Of the same brush as each other!
So sad that despite it being the reality for millions of people now and 10,000s of extra food banks opening up all over the place, people still feel 'embarassed' to go in because of a terrible Tory Government who force you to feel like a failure whilst stacking the deck against you in so many ways no matter how hard you work to feed your family and pay your bills.

The Reform UK guy seems friendly enough and is helping the community I'm surprised he's choose to stand for Reform UK who advocate lower taxes for the rich and have not promised any major investment into public services. In helping people he is doing something that many would called socialist, yet Richard Tice says he fights against socialism and 'the nanny state'. Blackpool has a lot of deprivation too many empty unkept buildings.

Blackpool has been a dump since the 80s what are you talking about no migrants back then. The town is pathetic run by and lived in by pathetic people. Lazy do not want to work and the easy thing to do is to blame immigrants for them being uneducated, having loads of kids and not making a dent in society but claiming Benefits.
