    Hello everyone and thank you for watching this PlanesWeekly video!
    This week we are in yet another exciting cockpit! Not many of these MadDogs left in service, but we've been lucky enough to get on a flight with Danish Air Transport when it flew between Copenhagen and Aalborg in the entire month of December 2020. We obviously shot more videos from the MD-83 on these flights, and are looking forward to sharing that with you in the future! For now, stay tuned for much more!
    Safe and happy flying!

    Amazing how the Mad Dog roars when you’re standing outside but in the cockpit, you can’t even hear the engines

      As opposed to sitting in a passenger seat right next to the intake of one of them, and you can hear every ball and roller bearing in the engine buzzing away. Some at high rpm’s, some medium, some lower, like a symphony of jet engine music, candy for an enthusiast’s ear.

    What a legendary beautiful aircraft. I never had thr chance to fly with them, but still they are one of my favourite design.

    Great memories came up seeing this video. Had then honour to fly this plane for 20 years. She was a real pilot‘s aircraft. Thanks for sharing this vid. !!

    Love, absolutely love the MD-80 line. Beautiful, traditional looking planes with a longer more narrow body. Reminiscent of a different time in aviation history. What a spectacular looking aircraft. I also love how they handle on simulations.

    DC-9s and MD-80s were great. I flew on those planes many times as a passenger. That was with USAir and American.
    I have never seen planes climb as steeply as these did. On take off, I thought I was on the space shuttle! 😂😂
    I happen to know CPH quite well. Fantastic video. Thank you!!

    I am so happy...as a kid I had the opportunity to fly all these planes..MD80, DC10 and Fokker 100, 737,747, 767, 777.
    The 767 was a monster. The takeoff speed was out of this world. I later read that the early versions of the MD80 had too small wings. An engineering error

    Flew on the MD83 Back in 1993 and I was amazed at how steep the take off angle was.
    Does anybody know if there was a derivative called MD83a because I'm sure that our brochure said so.

    Landing lights off and retracted as soon as gear is up.. very interesting

    • @actionjackson8439
      @actionjackson8439 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The nose lights are part of the landing lights and they go off automatically with gear retraction. The Landing lights on each wing are immediately retracted because they cause unwanted drag on climb.

    • @ErrorUsingFunction
      @ErrorUsingFunction ปีที่แล้ว

      @@actionjackson8439 I knew the wing lights can cause enough drag to make the difference of 100-200 ft/min, but figured they were to stay on for the SOP of keeping landing lights on under 10000ft

    • @nikobelic4251
      @nikobelic4251 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ErrorUsingFunctionDifferent airlines have different SOPs and I don’t know if EASA has the requirement of landing lights on until 10 000 feet
