seriously appreciate the striker eureka example, you have no idea how much i used to try recreating that scene as a kid whenever there was a pool around
Finally a channel that goes into in-depth, thoughtful discussions of the mecha genre and mecha design. The Big O and Giant Robo are among my favorite mecha shows. I love the heavyweight designs and how much weaponry is stored into these massive bodies. I think GunBuster might qualify due to its size, but in the shows it only fights in space so you can't really have an impression of its size and weight. Please keep this mechanical design series up!
I will for sure, and keep in mind, these categories are not concrete hard borders, there are for sure times when a mecha which is typically quite fast will slow down, or quite slow will speed up, the ones i featured here simply display the highest average in my mind and act as good examples, Gunbuster for sure has some beef no question, i think in particular the scene where it is rammed between the two Uchuu Kajiu uh "pancake ships" is a good example, or its landing into the front of the Exelion, its got some heavy DNA no question.
"Titans of steel..." (footage is from a parody that features deliberately lame mechas made of rubbish) But well, yes. Mecha with weight taken into consideration gets into the territory of tech porn. And Giant Robo OVA is pinnacle of this. Oh, and then there's GR-2. While only having one short scene, this scene is the only actual mecha vs mecha duel (I don't count those times when Giant Robo just punched BF robots once, and they were done) in the series. And what I love about it the most? Rocket punches. The best rocket punches I've ever seen. They only fire after a short but noticeable buildup, and they visibly accelerate in the air. Then there's jet engines making them tremble as they catch Giant Robo. If only someone did Mazinger justice and animated it the way that would convey "indomitable castle of iron". With ground shaking and cracking with every step, with rocket punches like those of GR-2, and with scrander jets emitting enough light and heat to show just how much energy output it takes to keep the thing afloat. So far Mazinger animes have only done tiny pieces of that, like meteor impact landings.
My only issue with this video is that like a large language model, you sort of... Hallucinated that there was a second Pacific Rim movie. This is despite the fact that that does not exist and is not a thing. Other than that, though, this was a good video, and I thank you for making it.
Warhammer 4000k : lets make big mech that someone can see from low orbit, massive weapon that make enemy think this is an propaganda and dont forgot it should shape like church
i’m too love mechas.. design of mechas... but I don’t know how to draw it & design it I see in artists profile in MAL the career name for this designs is ( Mechanical Designer )... amm I need to learn mechanical designer ( career ) to know how to design it ?? please help me I search how to do like that from looong time!! * i’m anime artist & animator and I want to be in the future mechanical design artist!*
keep practicing your art is not bad but it takes many years to get a good hang on this stuff. Other then that study real machines, learn how they work and why they are designed as they are, this helps improve designing a great deal.

OP:thinking about EVA as weighty.
Me: Yeah those sentient pancakes from flapjack sure seemed heavy.
Nice video. I def like this distinction for mecha waaaay better than whatever tf real robot is supposed to mean
THE single heaviest heavy-weight, in my experience, is the Geo Armor Kishin Corps. Just the mech being put into action is a whole sequence.
Why can I instantly recognize the robot jox theme even though I’ve never seen it
because its a damn good theme

Lol yup the happy girl and her dog just out there living their best life 😅
I’ve always been partial to G1 Omega Supreme.
so hard to find good mecha videos

Yay. Its back!
Awesome video. Have you considered making a patreon?
Nice to see footage from ROBOT JOX in this. R.I.P., Gary Graham...
Ha I think the Head look like toncit Ronin
Subbed for great content.
why the hell do you only have 700 subscribers?

Argonbolt : thanks for help, and I will do it
Did you ever have a chance to play the PS2 game Robot Alchemic Drive?
Nope
Is this a plawres sanshiro reference in the title?
Your analysis is really insightful
No just a "normal" pro-wrestling thing.
@@argonbolt oh, ok. I should get into pro wrestling, considering how influential it is to anime.
I never noticed the water shaking in the pool
People nowadays : Tank is better..
I mean evas are just angel mechs
ultrman mechs was the correct answer
