If you're playing garen vs range, try 3 points Q before E max. It allows more time to actually catch them. Q max is also decent because they're usually just so squishy it blows them up in 1 combo still.
instead of that midlane gank, you should have set up a proxy when kayle was close to hitting 6 imo. people tend to forget that garen can proxy almost as well as singed before tiamat, and he might even be better at it with the item. though its hard to say, because rammus is fast. he recalled, but might have caught right after that recall too. with stride + e you just 1 shot waves, so if youre ever in a bad matchup from there on out just proxy and dont deal with the clown anymore, and make plays on the map.
