I got turned on to Bud Powell through Monk who I never heard until college. Hard to forget that for a semester our photo professor played the thelonious monk quartet each class. I think it was that recording of Lulus Back In Town which opened my ears to the music. It wasn’t background anymore!
Love Bud, he's one of the jazz giants, so I really look forward to the film - it sounds wonderful. BTW there's an interview with him where he talks about other musicians that's great to hear.....it's easy to find.....
