- Stranger Things is BACK! Season 4 has just landed on Netflix and we caught up with stars of the show Charlie Heaton and Natalia Dyer to get their thoughts on the new season.
I willd be very upset if Nancy and Jonathan break up but knowing Charlie and Natalia are real couples makes me feel at ease!:)))

It felt so weird not seeing Johnathan and Nancy together on screen this season yet. It was also interesting to see that the writers seem to be aiming for Nancy and Steve. I didn't see that coming and Idk how I feel about that. We'll see I guess...
It could be a right person at the wrong time with Nancy and Steve. They have both grown up since season 1. He's a much better person overall. I mean that's the reason she left him in the first place. Steve has always loved Nancy.

They are building a connection with Nancy and Steve again this season because they're most likely gonna kill off Steve to save Nancy.

I love Nancy and Jonathan I’m just so angry that they sort of threw away Jonathan’s character. He was my favorite character season 1 but now he barely gets screen time and his character is completely ruined, I’m sad.

Jonathan and Nancy need to end up together cause actually in this season the writers seem to be pushing Steve and Nancy but for me it seems like they wouldn’t make Jonathan and Nancy break up instead they would make Steve looks horrible and miserable (but i think he’s going to be cool as usual) than he ever did in the past seasons lmao the punching bag both physically and emotionally.
I really hope I’m wrong but I feel like the sole purpose of them reigniting Nancy’s feelings for Steve is that they’re gonna make him die protecting her

What is commendable is seeing the flip in Nancy and Jonathan’s characters
Nancy going from sheltered to being adventurous and risk taking
Jonathan from being a calm lone wolf to being super anxious and needing people but using the excuse that they need him
Them communicating so well without saying anything to them not saying anything being the reason they can’t communicate well
I hope there’s a revival for Jonathan
Steve finds someone else
And Nancy helps Jonathan find himself again

@@sofiaboo6739 Nah he was left out in Season 3. The man was just Nancy’s assistant and sure he helped El with her leg but even then he didn’t take the mind flayer out of her. When in season 1 he’s the one who fought the demigorgan, created steve’s bat, helped save Will, and had a storyline with his dad. Now all the important storylines are going to Steve when he was basically a minor character in season 1

@@Tonycillian5 Yep, Jonathan has taken a backseat, but I gotta say Steve's character arc from an unlikeable d-bag to a charming hero as well as being everyone's favorite babysitter is just something else, and he's become such a fan favorite now, I'm not surprised he's getting all the juicy scenes..
@@MayLily why u acting like Steve’s development is a new thing. They have done it a thousand times in film, Han Solo, Sawyer from Lost, and Ian Malcom (Jurassic Park). Going from the self centered guy to a selfless person storyline is redundant.

Everyone keeps saying that they are dissapointed because jonathan this year does not play in any important story. I agree with you all. But, i kind of understand the writers too. If they wanted to have a small flirt thing with Nancy and Steve to show that things changed when the Byers moved out, they had to put jonathan in a more misery kind mood with not much interesting part in the story. Do not forget tha this year things are a lot darker than before. Both the three stories of elevens past the others trying to kill Vecna and Hoppers rescue, Mike , Will and Jonathan are the ones who do not participate in all this because everyone is in a different place. Last year Jonathan and Nancy were together and they played an important role and they had many difficult scenes so its not like jonathan is in the back of everything all these seasons. Besides, volume 2 has not come out yet they say that the last episode lasts 2 hours who knows what is going to happen to all of them there. I hope they will all stick up and fight together as always without any losses, i hope. And i wish Jonathan and Nancy will end up together and i also wish we could see more of Robin, Steve , Jonathan and Nancy as a group in the last season!
i know this is old but THIS! absolutely love jonathan but i understand the writers viewpoint a bit too, also would kill to see robin, steve, jonathan and nancy together next season.
This is the most comfortable I've seen Natalia in interviews for S4.

'We've changed a lot!' Not really if Jonathan can't be anymore than a supporting character. Each season I promise myself he's gonna have an interesting role but there is less and less of him in each season. It is just sad

I think it's because he doesn't need character arc like others. He was pretty perfect from the beginning, so where to go with it ?
Fr. each season he has always had the same kind of role. like he was always with Nancy and had sort of the same storyline. This season it’s a little bit different since he’s in California and he has a new friend and isn’t in as much scenes with her but at the same time it’s not. It’s worse bc now he’s getting less screen time and the storyline is just not that good. It’s sad bc he has so much potential and they can really dig deep with his character if they wanted to. Hopefully they do that in volume 2..
OK, what about Mike? This season he has the same amount of screen time as Johnathan. Is anyone complaining?
And he is one of the best actors in the show
Idk how i feel about his character in this season he didn't have any important scenes but the good thing was that he is finally open and became more fun and has a best friend he is different from Jonathan s1 so i'm cool about it but the problem is i don't want their relationship to end i don't want Nancy and steve to get back together their relationship was so toxic.. and i think the only reason Jonathan became a little bit happy it's because he is with Nancy .. so i don't want to see him broken again it's gonna be so sad ..🥺🥺

I keep thinking that Jonathan is gonna get a big arc each season and he doesn’t. The duffers obsession with Steve is getting out of hand he’s getting all of Jonathan’s traits and screen time. And it’s so sad because Charlie Heaton is probably the best dramatic actor of the show.
I don’t really see any Jonathan traits in Steve. Jon is more of a awkward and chill dude.
Charlie is a good actor... But the best? Cmom.
Steve has his own traits and characteristics and his evolution has been his own.
Jonathan traits and characteristics are not at all mirrored in Steve in any way.
I don’t think Jon has a lot of traits similar with Steve, so I don’t think that’s the problem. And we can’t really blame the Duffers for giving the fan favourite a lot to do, it’s just making the viewers happy. What I do blame them for is for not trying with Jon’s character at all. They just completely sidelined him to the point he’s just existing in the show, and it’s bad. It’s bad character development and bad writing. Unfair to both the show and the actor, and I hope they fix it in S5.

I wrote a better Cali Plot than the duffers did. So basically instead of separating El from them the whole storyline in a pointless training session. Have the Cali storyline set up like an action film with El, Mike, Will, and Jonathan running away from the government trying to get to hawkins. And have Jonathan step up as an older brother have some fight scenes with him and Mike protecting El. El suffering visions of her past to give us that Vecna reveal. Will struggling with his identity. Mike having to protect his girlfriend who doesn't have her powers. Jonathan overcoming addiction while protecting the kids, maybe even setting him up in the beginning of the season as a street fighter to so him holding his own against military dudes can be realistic. Have a bunch of shootouts and have Eleven get her powers gradually get her powers back by saving Will or Jonathan as a sort of badass sister moment. It really wasn't that hard to build that group more as a family and give the Byers bros and Mike an actual storyline.

Season 4 has been great because these two haven’t been on screen together imo
Their storyline in season 3 was the weakest, it was so boring to watch.
Shoutout to the writers for recognizing this and giving Natalia a chance at a better storyline.
It was boring bc it was the same every season. Everyone got to group up in new groups/pairs each season while they just stuck the same. This was the first season they weren’t paired up together to go on the same path as they did last time.
Yeah except Jonathan had no screen time. Like what did they do to the Cali storyline it was shit.
