      These are temporary just to show the build. They get torn down and recycled for a new build for TH-cam. You might have to do your own research to make a safe pond.

      No it isn't perfect, far from it. I hope no-one else copies this as those fish are going to suffer agonies from toxicity, protein build up and hear stress. He clearly knows nothing about fishkeeping so please don't copy this idea unless you are only blind to use it for small fish species and even then the cement render needs a none toxic waterproof coating.

    • @Biffo1262
      @Biffo1262 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@caroldunn2306 It isn't deep enough but not for the risk of jumping out. Protein is going to form from fish waste. No sump, not enough water, too may fish and too big for the depth and no protein skimmer. Those fish will have no deep cool water and will suffer greatly from heat stress. It may look nice but that thing is going to be torture for those fish.

    @wendyshaw5710 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'm really fascinated with this man's talent. I'm just frustrated that several questions I have can't be answered. I really wish TH-camrs would explain things better. For example, what kind of plant is he chopping up to let sit in the water? Is it bamboo plants? Banana tree plants? Doe's it only have to sit in the water over night or longer? I am assuming the reason is because this particular plant (whatever it is), seals the concrete up to prevent leaking. Is it possible that it also removes any harmful affects it may have on fish too? But again, I don't know for sure since it's not explained. I also would be interested in knowing what kind of cement/concrete is he using that doesn't require him to wear gloves? I know concrete work I've done in the past just ate through my skin on my fingers as if it were acid! My hands felt raw and painful! PLEASE EXPLAIN THINGS BETTER SO THAT YOUR VIDEOS CAN BE MORE HELPFUL TO OTHERS WHO MAY WANT TO DO SIMILAR PROJECTS. THANK YOU.

    • @jcxiouchen5775
      @jcxiouchen5775 ปีที่แล้ว

      The plant is banana used to remove the cement toxicity.. he is a carpenter so his skin probably adjusted to that kind of work.

  • @hauntedshadowslegacy2826
    @hauntedshadowslegacy2826 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Since it isn't said often enough in 'concrete craft' videos, I'll say it here: Most cement mixes contain caustic substances and should not be directly handled. Wear cement-proof gloves if you think you may get some on your hands, and clean off any cement that gets on your bare skin as soon as possible. The chemical burns you get from cement are no fun and can last for days. Handle with care, and if you're a young kid reading this, get an adult involved with the project to oversee things (yeah yeah, I hear your 'but I'm a BIG kid!' thoughts; there's nothing 'grown-up' about getting hurt).
    And now for the fish... Because of the caustic substance found in most cement mixes, it's important to either seal the cement with an aquarium-grade sealant or cycle the water until the caustic substance no longer leeches from the cement. The substance WILL kill fish if they're exposed to it for too long; it's like if we got stuck in a room with excessive methane in the air- gonna stink the whole time you're dying. Also, fish prefer having places to hide. Chuck in a hollow log, some tall water grass, half a broken jug... A few little things for the fish to swim into and de-stress.

  • @Biffo1262
    @Biffo1262 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Absolutely nowhere deep enough for Koi and there are too many of them. Protein will build up from waste and without a skimmer protein foam will form and the fish WILL die. They need at least 3ft depth of water and there should have been a sump for the pump. Also the pond should have had a non-toxic coating not only to prevent damage to the fish but to prevent seepage. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. To know what is going to happen to those beautiful fish saddens me
