It’s a long one folks. In this video I’m experimenting with the SheleeArt pouring medium and testing how it performs with other techniques besides blooms. Thanks to Shelee for her fabulous course and recipe!
Be forewarned-I ruin two perfectly fine paintings to get the final dramatic result! Mad scientist at work!! Thanks for the love and support-check out my links below if you can to support my artistic endeavors, or see my IG gallery, want to shop, or join my Facebook group for all the shenanigans!! Yes Karen your “struggle with math” is evident in this video! You said “4 out of 3 people struggle with math”. That should be 3 out of 4! Logic: you can’t select/have 4 people from a group of 3!
Also in reference to your Titanium White PM, your spoken quote of 1 ounce of paint to 2 ounces of Floetrol (3:10 time in the video) means a ratio of Floetrol to Paint of 2:1, and not 3:1 as written in the text onscreen.
I love your videos, your clarity of deliverance on materials, mixes, method, etc, and I love you, you are so humble and unintentionally funny, I love your laugh and your modesty, and laugh along with you at your honesty when things don’t go as planned, it’s always so refreshing and unlifting to listen to you and see your lovely work! Thank you and god bless.

Thanks Peter. That’s an old math joke! A little play on words but I’m always amused when y’all point it out. Yes the Floetrol ratio is just a typo. Cheers, K

Fun to see the variation on the Sheelee technique. I noticed Heather Mader has an neat solution to areas she wants to perk up ( your hazy white area) which would keep your from pouring over all those areas that were initially so gorgeous. She’s taking a piece of Saran Wrap cut to fit the undesirable space then places or presses it on top and gently lifts it off to create a kind of swipe. Very clever idea!

Hi Love your paintings, I used to do Some two pack acrylics about ten years ago as I worked as an industrial paint sprayer and I had lots of paint at my disposal. I put a base color down first, White/ Black/Blue or what ever color I wanted. Then I used Thinner`s on top of that, I used to drench the thing so it was really wet. Then I sprayed different colors on top of that. Because i sprayed the thinners over the base color it trued to reach oxygen and it created cells all over the painting, The results where really amazing. I am telling you this as I know you like experimenting as I did. I would love to get back in to creating some organic art again because all of my work has been destroyed now. Much love x.

I’m so glad you did this experiment. I wondered how the Shelee technique would work without all the blowing. I haven’t invested in that technique. It appears to me all the people who are doing that technique with the blooms, all have the same paintings. I have yet to see anything different. Plus nobody has done anything over a 12x12 canvas! I’m just not sold on it yet, it just seems so limiting. The colors in your experiment are absolutely gorgeous and I liked both cups. I don’t see the advantage of the house paint mixed with the wood conditioner. I use house paint mixed with Floetrol because I use so much off white. Thank you for experimenting Karen. The black cell accelerator really made a difference. This second one was most beautiful cup of colors. 🎨👍 I actually like the tri-direction of the piece. Yes, I love the last one best. Thank you so much again for doing this experiment. Can’t wait to see what you do next.

Lol I loved it when you popped the notes in there, lol I was yelling at you as your doing this. I liked the 1st one before you poured some off but the 2nd was good! You should have kept it and did this one which was awesome! On another canvas, lol yea I think as artists we need to be a bit crazy. A lot of people I think that try out art but never get anywhere is because they are afraid to experiment and think outside the box so to speak. I don’t do this ( acrylic flow art) but I would love to try! I just don’t have room though, my studio is just too small. I sculpt now but I used to paint and illustrations, realism not abstracts but boy someday I’m going to try this! My daughter who was never an artist is doing this and is the one who told me about the TH-cam videos. I think you are my favorite though, I can tell when someone is a real artist because it shows in the compositions and the colors you use to gather and just how you work at least that’s how I look at it. . Anyways love your work. I’m slowly going thru your videos .. so you may see more comments 😆

I love this one! I loved every single one of them … I thought this woman was crazy getting rid of the first “ta da” one to do it with the black then I absolutely loved it and then I thought no no you’ve used your quota of crazy today mama leave the pink, though it did end rather abruptly I thought it gave it some more interest and helped balance out everything else but once it was gone I still loved the end result. The showing of the end result made me a bit dizzy … a lot of shaking but I just pause it and look at it like that. These colors too are gorgeous together! There are people who have an eye for color and others who don’t and over the years of watching her videos I’ve seen her use some weird colors together and I’ve yet to see a time when they didn’t actually end up working beautifully together

In case no one else has responded to your question about why drink orange juice with extra pulp: I have not been able to drink orange juice for a good 20 years now because of the damage the high acid content does to my stomach. The pulp has chemicals in it that help reduce the acid naturally, so I do eat a lot of oranges and mandarins. However, sometimes you’d like to drink oj without having to peel and chew. I grew up drinking oj everyday of my childhood and I didn’t know until I was an adult that a 6 oz cup of juice has the equivalent acid content of 3 or 4 oranges. Unfortunately, the taste is so much better without the pulp- which means you want to drink more juice, which puts even more acid in your stomach. My stomach problems comes from taking certain meds for years on end, but some people have problems eating oranges but have fewer problems drinking it rather than eating it. There’s also the problems Bariatric patients have absorbing vitamin C in sufficient quantities. They tend to absorb it better in liquid form. Just thought you might be aching for the answer to your question. 🤪

Oops I forgot to ask, have you tried the minwax polycrylic varnish in place of the josonja? I'm on a paint/crafts spending freeze, lol, and I have the minwax and everything (except the minwax wood stuff you use)already so I was curious if you've tried that and what ya thought of it.

@@WaterfallAcrylics I tried it on a bloom but I gotta admit, I don't have the patience for blooms, and they bore me, lol. I've been waiting for people to show what else can be done with the technique so I was so glad to see your video. Great video by the way. It did really well for my bloom but I hadn't tried in on a flip cup. I'll be patiently waiting for your reaction to trying it or watching a video with you using it. Thanks again.

All three were nice, but the third painting was AWESOME! So many types of cells and new color combos were fantastic. I'm Pinning this one! I was curious about how long it took to dry, and I noticed you told people it dried fine, so apparently no issues with cracking even with 3 heavy layers of paint! Impressive!
I WOULD LOVE TO SEE YOU PRESS COASTERS (tile, pressed fiber board, wood, etc) onto you DRIP COLOR PALLETTE left on the plastic work surface! Better sales with matching color sets! Or you could just use a type of water color paper or poster board cut in sizes to be framed. You would get much more money out of your supplies!
I enjoy your videos and personality! Thank you for your time and money invested in your videos. I"d contribute if i could, but had to retire early due to lifelong chronic cancer and other health issues. I had hoped to start experimenting small scale with this method i have watched for 2 years, but still not able to. Hopefully someday!
It makes me HAPPY to watch my favorite ladies doing their wonderful paint & sewing projects that I dont have the energy to do myself! And I have no clean up! ;)

I’ve been messing around with this formula, trying to get the effects you get, and I’m a little confused. Any paint I mix with the pouring medium ends up light because it’s mixing with the deep base house paint. (Which is white)....how are you getting your colors so intense?

I liked all of them. I liked the 2nd one best at 21:30 and the last one at 33:54 or so (I didn't mind the pink stopping part way). I'm only making this comment cause I have watched you long enough to hear you mention male parts, and to know this next comment won't (or I hope it won't) offend you but at around 31:57 I see a male appendage with a black head and pink shaft just to the right of the beautiful orange cells at the bottom middle of the painting. Lol. I never saw appendages till hearing you once in a video and now, damned if I don't see them, lol. Again, I hope this doesn't upset or offend you. I would be very excited to have produced any one of these three you did tonight. Beautiful work. I wish you could have kept #2 and kept experimenting on #3 on a fresh canvas cause it was too gorgeous to pour over, but I do understand your drive to get the desired effect you were searching for. Cheers!
