Sir, what is the dual converter used for, especially when operating in the circulating current mode. And secondly, why for a firing angle greater than 90, we say it operates as an inverter?
dual converters are used for motor control. as in dual converter we can work in 4 quadrants, we can control forward motoring, forward braking, reverse motoring and reverse breaking of motor. circulating current mode is used instead of non circulating one to have continuous output current and avoid harmonics. in full converter, for alpha>90 deg Vo is negative (proportional to cos) and Io is positive due unidirectional nature of scr. So overall power is negative and flows from dc to ac side. So inverting mode of operation.
