Thank you for sharing this knowledge. A request for the future - whenever you say 'here', it's not clear enough where is here exactly, so it was harder to follow the flow.
Is it possible to a add a custom field which would show the ‘sales order ID’ on item line on purchase orders? So when we book purchase orders in we can see exactly who that item is for and what sales ID?
Hi Chris! If you'd like to have the ability to set permissions for a custom list, we would recommend you convert it to a custom record. A custom record is essentially a custom list but has a lot more power and flexibility. This will allow you to set permissions by user or role on who has the ability to create new items on the list. If you open the custom list (which can be done by going to Customization > Lists, Records & Fields > Lists and selecting your custom list), there will be a checkbox to “Convert to Custom Record.” Once you do this, there will be permissions tab on the custom record with options to set which users and roles have View, Create, Edit, and Full permissions for the items on the list. Hope this helps!
This was really helpful. Thank you.

Is there any standard way to add custom field on custom record?
How do you prevent a user from adding a NEW item to the custom list from within the form?
