Drill- Packedge in typical box, came with a tool bag (added bonus), two batteries, one charger, drill, and driver. Two words "plenty of Torque" th-cam.com/users/postUgkxW1vOBRCMrgTCDEijzpVzDWsgI-Jm2iQv well I guess that's three. Nice upgrade from current setup. Has belt clips, I don't think I will be using those. Driver and drill were bigger than what I expected but it is an upgrade from the current setup. For the money I would say that this is a great setup for Professionals and DIY/Weekend warriors.

From what I have seen researching them is you save a few thousandths of an inch in size, but ya lose 10-15% in power. Still good enough for just about anything. They are for sure more powerful than my seven year old ni-cad battery impact and drill, and I use them just about every single day and never think 'if I just had a bit more power'.

I have some full 20V Dewalt and a few Atomics that I got in kits. The Atomics are definitely smaller then most make them seem. No, not as small as 12v but I think most people think 12 v tools are smaller then they actually are. I never had issues with power but I'm not doing anything to heavy duty with them.

@The Den of Tools. Thanks Red for the explanations of Dewalt's cordless tool line ups. Yes, Dewalt does innovate like Milwaukee and many times gets there first. Makes me always think when other tool companies don't have a certain feature a (jobsite radio that can charge batteries) because Dewalt or some other company holds the patent. Yes, Dewalt for the longest time held the patent for a jobsite radio that can charge batteries. Dewalt sued Bosch and Milwaukee years ago because of it. It's only been about 3-4 years ago that Dewalt's patent expired. And I agree that the number of 18V chargers Dewalt makes and sells is INSANE.
Hope you, Jeff, Blue, and your families stay safe and well.

I have had the DeWalt 12V drill and screwdriver for the last 10 years. The screwdriver chuck is finally getting a little loose. I still have two of the original batteries and they work just fine. They are adequate for most of my usage, which is DIY, and they are very lightweight. I can carry them around all day long without strain especially overhead work around the house.

For DeWalt the 20 Volt Max was to differentiate the slide style battery from the 18 Volt insert style battery. DeWalt was making the 18 Volt stick style tools for a decade before the introduction of the 20 Volt Max line. I switched to the 20V tools because of the slide style batteries; the handles are much slimmer on slide battery tools than stick style tools. I’m a contractor and have a lot of tools, mostly DeWalt 20V and 60V. I do like the battery converters that allow you to use almost any brand battery in any brand tool. I use the Flex Volt batteries in 20V tools all the time, in fact DeWalt actually makes tools now that take advantage of the extra power in the Flex Volt batteries; the Flex Volt batteries will allow the same ultimate watts out as the 20V battery while allowing each cell to have less amp draw typically meaning more longevity as well as the ability to up watts, if the tool protection circuitry allows it. I own the right angle drill and it’s a beast. The XR in the batteries refers to the batteries being upgraded from the original 1.5 Amp/Hr and 3 Amp/Hr batteries going to 2 Amp/Hr and 4 Amp/Hr respectively. DeWalt now has 5, 6, and 8 Amp/Hr 20V as well as the 2, 3, & 4 Amp/Hr @ 60V FlexVolt batteries. The XR today is kind of pointless as 1.5/3 Amp/Hr batteries are rare outside of the low price point tools.
If you are going to go DeWalt don’t go with Atomic they just aren’t as good as the commercial grade tools, go with brushless tools and go with the 3 speed impact and 3 speed drill; the 3 speed tools are only made in a commercial quality.

I know Project Farm did some videos on using flexvolt batteries or other high capacity batteries. Basically a drill or impact really doesn't need much more than like 4-6 ah batteries or it will actually go too fast and deliver too much power for some tasks but it won't burn the tool itself out.

Ryobi is another line that is starting to get into different battery flavors. They now have their "HP" line of batteries for cordless, The claim is the same as the Dewalt XR line of 33% more power for the brushless tools. But like a lot of other battery lines their prices have also become very expensive. As of late I have been considering testing some of the myriad of generic batteries offered on other websites.

Short of a drill or a driver you would be best sticking with the OL 120v AC. Being a DIY'er there's nothing more aggravating than having a serviceable tool and batteries that last only part way into your job. Bought a 120v Sawzall years ago and it still works every time I pull it out of the case, with no extra cost. Were my battery power drills needed to have the batteries replaced at regular intervals. Fortunately they are still available for my current 18v Milwaukee, were my previous battery powered drills (Makita and Black & Decker) fell into obsolescence. It's hard to imagine the level of steam that I would let off if my table saw required regular battery replacement or became obsolete due to unavailable batteries.
Good channel keep up the battle.

Easy to use and powerful enough to rip for a good long while on the batteries they provided in the kit which were the 2 ah and not the 5 ah. I was wondering if it is worth the money to buy a few of the 5 ah since the 2 ah are working fine for breaking down plywood and making cuts on 4x4s, 2x4s on the job. Most of the time one 20 Volt 2 ah works for the entire day.

Bear, There was also Dewalt's original 18 volt line of brushed tools with a totally different battery socket. They have / had a battery adapter so you could use the 20 volt batteries on the older tools - probably because they discontinued the 18 volt batteries. What's apparent from your video is Dewalt jumps around a lot on battery capacities and the customer gets stuck if they buy into an orphaned line. I have mostly Dewalt tools but I'm thinking maybe I should have gone Milwaukee since they seem like they stick with their batteries better although I've had a fair amount of failures with their 12 volt batteries.

The 12v XTREME line is a joke from a marketing standpoint, but have been good products for general use. When they were running sales with a tool, two batteries, and a charger for $100, I picked up the drill driver, and was impressed enough with it to grab a few more from that line. Power and run time obviously aren't selling points for them, but the size and weight, as well as overall convenience, makes them the go-to for the majority of small jobs.

Think it might be the old brushed tools you can stall and still have power go to them cooking thema little bit each time. The newer stuff has the anti-wrist braking tech so as if the tool snatches on something and boughs down it kills the power and saves the tool............... and your wrist

I've had DeWalt for 25 years and have over 25 individual cordless tools, I'm not switching to another brand. I watch those comparison tests and they usually consist of some crazy over the top torture test. If a DeWalt tool is used as it is intended to be, it has no problem completing the task. If you do want to see a DeWalt win over Milwaukee check out the new DCF921 compact impact kicking the crap out of Milwaukee's compact guns.

I am in the yellow black. My only complaint is the chuck on the drills. My 20V won’t stay tight no matter what I do. I mainly use my old 18V with 20V adapter, but the chuck is only marginally better. I would buy one of the higher end Dewalt drills if I knew the chuck was better. May have to switch to all red. The M12s I have been very happy with.

I was thinking about those stationary tools and what it would do with the newer pouch batteries particularly the PowerStack when the finally come out with the higher amp hour PowerStack batteries. Note a 5 amp hour PowerStack has the same size case as a standard 2 or 3 amp hour non-compact cylinder battery, so 5 maybe 10 years you 40 amp hour PowerStack, just think of what you could do with that kind of battery. Not to mention most of these tools are probably going to be Bluetooth controlled, sounds pretty nice.

My cordless tools are all Makita and there is no confusion whatsoever. Wow. Do they have a product plan or a product dartboard? DeWalt should sack their marketing team. I'm sure the engineers at SB&D just roll their eyes when a "new plan" is presented! They would not have lasted where I used to do work in Product Development! No wonder the tools are expensive, when you consider the waste in marketing a development that they create with these crummy plans!
This just further concretes to me that I won't really consider DeWalt for cordless tools - and will continue to spend my prosumer dollars in Makita. It's pretty bad when DeWalt fanboys are confused. It's not that I think DeWalt is junk, but I'm scared I'd buy something I didn't like because of confusion!
It just shouldn't be THAT hard!

Hoo, boy, that right angle drill (hole hawg competitor) is a weird looking thing.
All these battery platforms with a future, and I'm sitting here on a bunch of Craftsman C3 18V lithium tools and batteries. 😥 I know you said Chervon made them, but I'm pretty sure Ryobi (or rather, who makes them, slips my mind) was involved in the batteries at least of that series, can find some cross-references on the circuit boards. Got the drill driver and impact combo, replacing a drill-driver only, and a pile of batteries. Oh, and one little 12V Craftsman oscillating multi tool I got for 10 at Menards on a killer deal. Actually surprisingly useful, since I know that if I need more power I have a corded one. Unfortunately it doesn't look like anything I've seen can interop without sketchy adapters.
