    As you know, Mark NIRVC is NUMBER 1 for us also and thank you for leading us to them back in 2020. We have been so satisfied by the way they have treated us. From placing our order for our Dutch Star at a rally in Auburndale. To all the time over the last two years of service and warranty work. They just make you feel part of the family. Yes being able to watch and talk to the tech is such a great thing. Brett’s has put together such a great team. Yes Todd Springs is everywhere. When your back in the paint area say hello to Dobie and Dylan for me…glad all your repairs are going to meet your approval. I bet it was fun but nervous watching. Great video…

      I know it sounds a little cliche, but we really do feel like family! Now of course family doesn't charge you an hourly rate and provide sewer, water and electric,. BUT that is pretty much were the difference stops. NIRVC will help make your RVing life, dream, adventure and travel as smooth as it can be in a house that moves around on today's bumpy roads!

      My point- why is a relatively new coach from Newmar having this issue? Kirkchubbs can sing all she wants, but why pay that kind of money to have this problem? It’s so basic.

      @@Traveler1959 The reality is that this tank was installed in June of 2013, in our 2014 Newmar. Somewhere between then & when I discovered it leaking (About July 2023) it has failed. Nothing lasts forever. We got unlucky and won the prize. I know of NO OTHER NEWMAR OWNERS that had a black or gray tank leak,..........so it is a statistical anomaly.

    WOW! There is nothing more satisfying than to see two pro's working together for a most beneficial outcome. RVing is not for the timid. As the saying goes, "hose clamp $1.00...knowing where and how to place the hose clamp $100.00". Another great video.

    Huge respect for Dean! I always cherish a tech that thinks outside the box on how to make it better and puts in the effort. It's awesome you were there Mark to communicate with Dean your wants and desires and also good eye Mark noticing things that could be future issues. Its also really nice you have such a good relationship with your shop. I owned a Body Shop for 40 years so needless to say I loved this video. Great job to all!!!

    Myles is looking good! Glad you two had an expert working on your repairs and that he was also able to tackle some of those other job while working on the primary concern. The more I watch your products and hear your endorsement of NIRVC, it makes me want to seriously consider them when it comes time for us to move up from our travel trailer to a motorhome. Thanks you guys!

      We always try to show the entire experience, and trust us, the repairs aren't cheap. But I have found since RVing that the most expensive one is the one that wasn't done right, and they won't set up to make it right. We have had things done at one NIRVC and later adjusted at another NIRVC. Our experience this past few weeks at NIRVC-Atlanta has the feel of being at the Newmar Factory Service Center. The difference is the Mothership is booked up for a year, and NIRVC is ready when you are.

    That was amazing watching the disassemble and reassembly! Sometimes I think about being an RV Tech... but when I try fixing things in my "Bricks & Sticks" and make that "3rd Trip to Home Depot" I'm not so sure that I could make a living if I did this every day!!!! Thanks for the video. Clearly and I RVC knows what they’re doing. Seems to me that Newmar should cover some of this given that the rubbing from the wires and the seam failure with the cause of the leaks as well as the aqua hot issue. Those are not where issues those are defective design and/or installation issues. We have a 2020 Dutch star, and I have added tons of that protective foam to areas where I’ve noticed rubbing

    • @OurJourneyInMyles
      @OurJourneyInMyles  ปีที่แล้ว

      I guess after 10 years, and the fact that Newmar didn't make the tank, I caulk it up to just being the unlucky sole that won the "leaky tank" lottery! The swimming pool noodle foam spacer trick is an RVers best friend.

I NEVER have seen one person using theirs in 6.5 years. Glad to hear that you’re tank repair went smoothly. Just wondering why stainless steel tanks were not considered as an option. I’m guessing NIRV does not have a metal fabrication shop. Could have farmed it out to a local shop. Welding stainless steel requires a special welding equipment, if my memory serves me oxygen free atmosphere around the tip of the torch. With the new cnc table computer guided laser cutting, should be no problem. It’s not like we’re building a submarine with a screen door, no pun intended. Thanks for sharing and safe travels

      I don’t want to rain on the parade, but we use braided stainless steel hose’s all the time for racing cars. That are designed specifically for high heat and pressure. I know, you have to wonder about Newmar engineering department. Especially when accessing those hoses for repair are extremely hard to get to. Kind a falls short in my mind. Especially when you’re your spending a half a million and up for a camper. Braided stainless steel hoses would last the lifetime of the camper. I hope engineering didn’t spend a lot of money on that college degree.

I may be incorrect that you may just have had different types of pex hosing. My 2010 fifth wheel had all vinyl tubing and wished My understanding is that pex has a much higher burst rating than vinyl tubing. I really thought you should have gone with a stainless steel wet bay wall as seen on Newell and Prevost coaches. BTW my shower head in the wet bay also leaks.

    Your videos are so informative and entertaining. I just ordered my first RV (2024 Newmar Dutch Star 4369) from NIRVC (Your endorsement of National Indoor was a big reason I went with them). I’ve been following your adventures since 2019 (it’s taken this long to get my wife on board)
    The detail in the videos of the work done in Atlanta are outstanding. Here’s my question - I assume that I won’t be in the NIRVC repair bays like you were, so how am I going to see all the additional items that may need attention, such as the nicked Oasis hose, the rubbing of the wires, tank valve, or the poor tank seam? If you weren’t there, would Dean have identified these issues?

    • @OurJourneyInMyles
      @OurJourneyInMyles  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dean fixed a number of things along the way that I found out about later. When we first met in the Service Advisors office, he looked at me and said confidently, "It will be better than when it came in when I'm done with it." Turns out, he was right. I think it helps that I discussed at length with Dan the Service Advisor that I wanted as much NEW componentry as possible. I expressed MANY TIMES I wanted to do it right the first time only once, and wanted to do everything I could do to insure a successful outcome. I am certain this added some hours to the overall job. I know it added to the parts cost. I expected this, and told Dan I was willing to pay for it,...... A job like this you only want to do once when you are in my situation! Congratulations on joining the Newmar Team, and NIRVC Family. PS: If I was buying new now, I would GLADLY spend the extra $$ for the NIRVC Campers Edge Extended Warranty. My last two repairs EACH would have paid for the policy,.....and then some.

      You are probably correct. If I think back, this leak has been with me since I bought the rig in June 2017. And I expect, that the previous owner knew it. Nice hey?

    Instead of putting that one water filter back in I would love to see if he could put our 3 filter system in that place. If possible hook that to our water softener.

    • @OurJourneyInMyles
      @OurJourneyInMyles  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I put the single filter canister back in for resale only. I leave it empty, and consider it useless. Not enough room for the double Clearsource Filter unit, plus you get too much water all over everything every time you change a filter. I also do not want all those additional connections, o-rings and canister connections to worry about INSIDE the coach. I let them leak outside the rig!

    • @OurJourneyInMyles
      @OurJourneyInMyles  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks James. I already have done a headlight recall a while back, and actually burned up a relay in my electronics bay once. We could smell it when it happened, couldn't find anything, and then MONTHS later found out we had a headlight out that didn't fix itself when I replaced the bulb! I had a new relay installed during my Oasis boiler replacement at NIRVC-Las Vegas!

    Mark, does NIRVC typically allow customers in the work area or is that an exception they made for you because of the channel? I have a 2013 Thor Tuscany that I adore but I need some maintenance that’s due to age and I’m planning to use the Atlanta NIRVC.

    • @OurJourneyInMyles
      @OurJourneyInMyles  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Both! I am certain we were given more latitude due to the channel so we can bring the experience to life, BUT,.............NIRVC is about making RVing easier, and more enjoyable. Here is their mission statement that they live every day: "We provide an outstanding, hassle-free motorhome ownership experience. We enjoy serving our guests and team members with integrity, courtesy, and respect while helping them realize their dreams." I am certain that if you need to confer with your tech, in the offices, or out at the coach, your service advisor will make it happen for you. This could mean they escort you out due to insurance issues, but that's good because they most likely need to hear all the fine details of the job as well!

      We bought used from a private individual, and had no extended warranty. I would expect that if I had bought used from NIRVC with the "Campers Care" extended warranty they offer, I would have been covered. As of today 11-12-2023, we just had a subscriber friend buy the Campers Edge Extended Coverage for their NEW 2023 40 foot Dutch Star for $12,000. My tank repair alone would have paid for the coverage!

    Mark love the aluminum skirting add on . This motorhome looks better than any other 2014 model by far. Was you able to stay in your own motorhome the whole time this all was being done ? Even though I have an older motorhome I would like to do a few of the things I have seen you do to your motorhome. A little over a year ago our engine looked up and we had to purchase an older motorhome in order to stay into this life style that we love. Even though its an older motorhome we want it to look good and keep it up as much as possible. Your videos has given me some great ideas on how I can do this, and I thank you and Sue.

    • @OurJourneyInMyles

      The leak was at the seam, and had to get removed along with the fresh water tank to fix it. Since the number of labor hours would be the same either way, I decided to re-install a new tank, rather than the old one just to be pro-active and error on the side of success. Each new tank added about $500.

      I will agree with you to a point. We spent 65 hours in the shop, spread out over 2 weeks. We interacted with parts/paint & body/detail/house service/chassis group/lot porters and our service advisors. It would be near impossible for this many folks to not be who they really are,...........eventually. I think folks with realistic expectations about the time & effort it takes to repair these specialized machines will be well served and satisfied at any of the NIRVC's.

      RVing can be done 1000 different ways, in a 1000 different pieces of equipment. For us, in a used luxury brand diesel pusher, always moving, always traveling, staying in it every single night because we are full time, it has NOT been a money saver. But things we have seen, and places we have experienced together have been priceless. This IS the retirement adventure , and change of life we had hoped for. We are not even remotely ready to stop this dream,....

    This type of maintenance has to be the most nerve wracking of full timing. Ironically, a lot of the issues are created by poor design and product quality. I fully understand why the likes of Liberty manufacture their own parts to eliminate any potential leaks. It’s almost as if they’re designed to fail. If they’re planning on using those types of materials why not put the tanks in a tray to collect any leaks and allow them to safely drain away? 😳🤔😵‍💫
    Vibration and parts rubbing on components isn’t going to end well, preventative maintenance is the only solution and a hefty bank balance. 😬🤑🥴

      The reality is that this tank was installed in June of 2013. Somewhere between then & when I discovered it leaking (About July 2023) it has failed. Nothing lasts forever. I got unlucky and won the prize. I know of NO OTHER NEWMAR OWNER that had a black or gray tank leak. I do not expect them to help. They are a good company,.......and make the BEST Production Motorhomes. This type of thing happens,.... Having said all this, I should have bought NEW, ......with an Exclusionary Extended Warranty. I was a Newbie,..........I didn't know any better.

    Well done. The shine makes it look like a new coach. I had 2,000 watts of solar, 1,200 A/H LiPO house batteries, with Victron Multiplus II installed on our rig last May. If I was not a traveler, the gray tank might just be left open. If I was parked all the time in one spot, I would never have known it was leaking! But since I move around, the leak would "start" only to "stop" again when I was parked!
