Totally unpardonable to stop at ekava splitting the word wrongly
Judges' comments/ feedback are at times inconsistent. Without taking anything away from the contestants, one can observe that the judges didn't comment anything about one singer singing எங்கும்மாய் repeatedly and for stopping the swarams with ஏகவ again and again, breaking the beautiful word வஸ்து in half.
But they were harping on such solecisms made by previous contestants.
Agreed but the way I see it, they are focusing on the top 1-2 things to provide feedback on for each contestant. Bombarding them with feedback is not useful for their development as future artists. Yes, it’s a competition, but part of the goal for both the producers and the judges seems to be supporting the development of these kids.
Agreed though. Even the format is a tad inconsistent. 6 minutes but the asks are different for each contestant and they are allowed to select kritis.. The extemporeous nature of Karnatic Music certainly makes any sort of format hard. I am sure it will improve and evolve in seasons to come.
Yes. The format is evolving. It will soon be more objective. The participants as well as judges are all moving in the right direction.
