    How do you normally wash your bike? How often do you do a deep clean?

      Normally hose off still wet mud then use a Quick Detailer on the stanchions, dropper and shock. Every ride gets a drivetrain clean and lube.
      Every so often I give a full clean down.. citrus, snow foam, shampoo, quick detailer.

    I had NO idea there were battery self siphoning pressure washers! As I live in a condo/flat this will help extend my riding season as hunting down a self serve car wash is further away from where I ride. 😃

      I also live in a flat and got one of the weed sprayers. Seems to do the job

    • @Robbie-mw5uu
      @Robbie-mw5uu ปีที่แล้ว

      that's because they're not actually pressure washers, they're called "power washers", and the real advantage to them is that they can be hot whereas pressure washers are always cold but have high pressure

    I bought a portable jet cleaner and it was a fantastic choice. It takes me a few minutes to rinse my bike from mud and dirt every time I use it while not wasting too much water, it only needs a gallon as much (2 if I need to wash and rinse it) per session. 👍

  • @Seppster58
    @Seppster58 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I use a portable pressure washer but ensure the pressure is low enough to get most of the big stuff off and finish with the sponges and brushes. I am always careful around any bearings and openings that might drive in dirt to those places. I carry an old 5L laundry soap bottle filled with washing solution with me to wash up before bring the bike into my apartment.

    • @MrSupermugen
      @MrSupermugen 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      if you have a modern bike, you would have to hit the bearings directly with high pressure to force crap past the seals... Its the biggest myth in mtb.

    I wipe dirt and dust away from seals after every ride. Do a quick wash probably every other ride so it never gets filthy.

  • @bikeanes
    @bikeanes 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I have never washed my bike with water. I use a brush to get the mud off after it has dryed in my workshop. Then a cloth, some times damp, to get the rest off. Same with drivetrain and bearings. I dont want to wash out my bearings with water etc.

    • @johndef5075
      @johndef5075 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you dont use high pressure it wont do much. The bearings have seals. I just lightly rinse with hose and dry everything immediately.
      But it sounds like you have a pretty good system yourself!

    I just use a pail and dipper to wash my bike and an old tooth brush or sponge to scrub the dirt off

  • @sultanabran1
    @sultanabran1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    in my experience, spraying the bike with washing solutions is a waste of money. they all say to 'agitate' the spray after applying, meaning wipe or brush. if you wipe or bursh, water will do the same job. the only place those solutions have a place is on the drivetrain, which can be cleaned with cheaper non bike specific products, which is cheaper and better. they're not coloured nicely in a cool bottle, but they do the same job.

    • @Robbie-mw5uu
      @Robbie-mw5uu ปีที่แล้ว

      water will only do the same job as scrubbing with a brush if you are using a pressure washer
      if you are not using a pressure washer, you need a brush
      also it goes without saying do not use a brush on the paint, you must use a microfiber mitt/towel

    what do i have to worry about in terms of rust because im scared i will rust bolts at the stem and just other small things

    • @Robbie-mw5uu
      @Robbie-mw5uu ปีที่แล้ว +1

      rust only occurs when you leave water on it
      use a microfiber towel or a blow dryer (set on cold) to dry the bike off after washing
      if you notice any rust, use a rust remover or brass brush to clean it off and use an automotive ceramic detailer or polish to protect

    I use it in streets and going short distance but cause of the bumpy and dusty roads it looks yellowish as if I ride on desert 24/7

    Thanks for a very informative video. Shame there is no mention of the environmental hazards when washing in the street or carpark and how best to respect and look after the environment when doing so. Riders should look at the chemicals being used and don't wash off by road gulleys that feed straight into the water course etc. Basically leave nothing behind and think environment. One wash off many not be a big problem but when everyone does it in the same location it damages the environmental

    Muc Off propaganda... no thanks.
    It's not a secret: clear water, a soft brush, patience and love is the best way to clean a bike.
    Drying it properly with a an old towel and with a old tooth brush (for the chain).
    It might sound ridiculous, but I alwaysfinish the cleaning of my transmission with a hair dryer before I lube it and finally store it.

    Everything functions properly th-cam.com/users/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Nothing was damaged in the box aside from a decal on the fork. The decal was missing a piece of a corner but I ended up peeling them off anyways. Assembly is easy BUT make sure you tune up the derailleurs. Both the front and rear need adjusting. I'd advise going to a bike shop but I opted out and put in 10+ hours with the help of TH-cam. Ended up fraying a shifter cable but all in all I learned from the experience. The Brakes work well but the front caliper needs adjusting or at least mine did because the rotor was rubbing against the pads. Make sure you swap out the seat, grips, and pedals. For the short run you'll be fine though. I've read that this bike isn't built yet for hard trails but I just need it for the city. PA has some of the worst roads and being in a mountain this was a great choice. Worth the investment!
