    I hope that they fix their staffing issues. We were disappointed with the level of service we experienced on the Sun Princess. Hot food in any of the venues we ate in was rare. Getting bar drinks took a long time with the bartenders avoiding eye contact because they were too busy. There were waits for seating in the main dining room even though we had reservations. When sat each night, we noted half the dining room tables were not sat. Table maintenance was very slow on the pool decks and especially in the two small smoking areas. Tables were left with dirty plates overnight. Carts full of dirty plates were parked in the smoking area. Ashtrays were full of cigar butts. The venues are much too small for a ship over 4000 guests.

    We didn't think the food on the Sun Princess was up to par, and we ate in the speciality restaurants with Premier. We hated the Eatery on the Sun Princess. The food was bad, we couldn't obtain it prepared properly, there were long waits for service and there never was adequate seating. I think unlimited speciality dining on the sphere class ships would be a great value, less so on the other ships as there are fewer speciality choices. We loved the covered deck area in the very front of the sun princess and the dome. The theatrical entertainment was sub par. We found that the stench of cigarette smoke was everywhere on the sun princess. It was gross. We have never experienced that on the Royal class ships, and the food was universally better at any venue on those ships. We probably will go back to sailing on Royal class ships in the future. We'll be curious to hear if the Star Princess fixes any of the Sun Princess's problems.
    After our cruise on the Sun Princess we heard from many other people who were as grossed out as we were with the oppressive stench of cigarette smoke, nearly everywhere. I'd like to hear your comments and experiences with this.

    Just finished our first Princess cruise and it was on the Sun Princess. Loved the ship and the handcrafted drinks were the best we have ever had. The food was some of the worst of any cruise line we have ever been on. The staff were the greatest and delivered some of the best service we have had the pleasure of experiencing including other "ship within a ship" type concepts found on several lines. We have been on a total of 50 cruises and will cruise on Princess again but it may be on one of the smaller venues. Food at the Crown Grill was not acceptable and they were obviously under staffed, the maitre'd failed to resolve the issues encountered and we were not reimbursed for a meal not able to be eaten. Other Princess regulars we encountered made similar statements to us and stated the other Princess ships are not like this and to try them, we would see the difference. Despite the issues regarding food, we loved our week on the Sun Princess and are booking another cruise in a few months.

    Bigger and newer may not be better. What happened to the love boat - the beautiful atrium/piazza, Explorers Lounge and Wheelhouse Bar found on Royal and Grand class Princess ships. It looks like Princess is designing their new ships to match every other new Carnival/Royal Caribbean ship.

    I have to say, I booked on this ship in May for Nov or 2025 knowing they had some issues at launch. Seeing this video is just making me nervous. I never seen such a botched launch of a ship like this before. Its as if they never built a ship before.... I did notice that the cost of my booking in Nov dropped by $1500 for my family of 3 in a balcony with the primer package during the "black Friday" sale. So now it's definitely not worth cancelling even though I don't have high hopes for this 1st time sailing on Princess. I just got off Celebrity Ascent this past Nov and the shows were amazing, everything went smoothly and the ship was one of the most beautiful ships I've sailed on and it was my 35th cruise.

    I really loved the Sun Princess. It was hard to disembark. I will say that Spellbound was way too long. If I knew it was 4 hours before booking, I would have not done it. Many of the Princess loyal cruisers onboard were not a huge fan and kept telling me to not judge Princess on this new class of ship and want me to try the Royal class, as that was my first Princess cruise. Honestly park 19 could have been scaped despite being finished because the cruise line did not factor in matance and safety checks or they were mich higher then expected and the project scrraped because the higher ups did not want to pay the recurring price of having those attractions... Kinda odd to penny pench in the cruise line industry that isn't all that profitable these days... So it would be really odd as it's being in service with minimal down time at sea would be a net positive I think for the cruise line... But yeah other then that I have no idea why they would finish the install and scape before it had many users.

    • @monkeyb1820
      @monkeyb1820 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The ride did not work and thus they had to scrap it. The ride works fine on land, but when tested at sea (with rocking and side-to-side forces) it didn't work. So basically Princess blew it pretty bad. It doesn't bother me too much since I tend not to do those things.

    • @Eatsleepcruise1
      @Eatsleepcruise1  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The whole deck did not pass certification, so both the glow rider, the ropes course, and kids play area all had to be removed. Plenty of ships have ropes courses, so the movement of the ship should not have affected that attraction from running. It is sort of a big miss.

    • @texasboy5680
      @texasboy5680 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think it had more to do with the fact that Park 19 would make Princess Cruises no longer classified as a premium cruise line. To be a premium cruise you can not have rides/slides and other in your face kid /teen friendly attractions taking up a large amount of space. I mean for gods sake they got rid of the elegant cigar lounges and turned them into video arcades. This ship, and that central arcade decision drove us away from Princess, which we used to love and towards Celebrity and Virgin.

    We are booked on the Sun Princess next May, looking forward to our cruise in the eastern Mediterranean.

      I agree but the RCI ships are far more than floating amusement parks. The biggest ones, and most of them, offer spaces like a jazz club, a Latin dance lounge, Schooner's piano bar with its nautical theming, several restaurants (of course for pay) and so forth that adults can enjoy. I guess Carnival does as well. But I hear your point about slides and the other stuff Princess was going to put on the ship. There needs to be niches in cruising, not one size fits all.
