When God allows hard things and suffering in our lives, it's never because he isn't for us. You are setting yourself up for disillusionment if you think that God will always keep you from going through suffering. It is exactly because he loves you that he allows it. Those are the times when we draw close to him, not in the happy times.

God said "Behold, he is in your hands" if you look up the word behold, it means to state something that is already established.
so God wasn't saying "here, I is handed over to you" That in itself is a faulty concept. its an incorrect interpretation of scripture because God has no right to hand you over to the Devil, he's given you authority over your own life. God was basically saying "behold, look, he is in your hands already!"
Do you understand? "look, he is in your hands, but do not kill him" why was Job vulnerable? because Job had already put himself in danger through fear, and by his own God given authority, he put himself in danger, God didn't do it!! he did it!
and even though Job messed up, God said "do not kill him"... and Through Job's rants he blamed God did he not? he blamed God for his trouble "The Lord giveth, the Lord taketh away" that is not true.... then God spoke, then Job said "before I have heard of you, now I know you"... so Job was saying "I thought you were the source of my pain and trouble, now I realise you aren't, you are good and only good"

I am wondering If you colud help me with a question I have.
I have also heard about that argument that the words "the Lord gives and take away" is not true. And it sounds it can be that way because Job later says he repent.
Now my question is. How do I know what is true in the bible? When David say for exampel in psalm 146 "the Lord raiseth them that are bowed down", how do I know that Davids words is true If not Jobs word are true?

I just don't see it! Has God not ordained all for His glory? (Romans 11:33-36) When satan asked God, did He not clearly give him Jobs name? Therefore He allowed it and had a purpose for it. God did not create sin but He can use the wicked as He pleases, for His glory.

Yes, and Satan even recognized that God had a hedge of protection around Job. If one just reads the scripture, it clearly shows God allowed Satan to go after Job...and also shows that He also put constraints on what was allowed to be done. I'm not crazy about scripture being twisted

    • @praiseinvasion9357

12The Lord said to Satan, “Very well, then, everything he has is in your power, but on the man himself do not lay a finger" and it always was in his power to have control over his stuff.
The hedge of protection is On Job himself, not his stuff or daughters, The Devil had just given up on Job because "Resist the Devil and he will Flee" and the hedge made it impossible for him so The Devil instead allowed Job to store up as much stuff as possible thinking he would take it all away to curse God and the more stuff Job had and Loves the better chance he will have to get Job to curse God, God knowing all of our thoughts he already knew why Satan had come to him which is why Satan was fast to reply "yes I hAve considered your servant Job" keyword "Considered" meaning he had Job in his thoughts for a long time and already had the perfect question of "If I take away all he has than surely he will curse you" to question God in this testing way. Satan master preplanned it all and was put to Shame by God in what Satan thought was the perfect setup of allowing Job to store up as much stuff as possible including having daughters to take it all away which than Job would of lost his hedge of Protection to kill Job which is what he wanted most.
"“I came naked from my mother’s womb,
and I will be naked when I leave. The LORD gave me what I had, and the LORD has taken it away. Praise the name of the LORD!” Notice how it starts with "I came naked from my mothers womb and will be naked when I LEAVE" this is saying he takes you away to heaven aka Receives you to heaven not takes away what God has given you as in items and livestock and family members before you die. How can items from earth come with you to heaven when he takes you away? "The Lord gave me what I had and has taken it away" which right after God says "I will be naked when I LEAVE" meaning God is taking all that you had right before your death by leaving it behind, For example your clothes and all your other possessions you owned when you die, Not while your still alive.

The whole concept of God allowing things doesn't make any sense. honestly its a faulty understanding. did God allow murders to happen, and people to be raped? no God cant stop those things from happening because he has given us free will. God's not allowing it, we are allowing it. If he could stop those things then we wouldn't have free will, God is NOT a controller, if he was he wouldn't have let adam eat from the tree at the very start, but people go on doing as THEY please with their own free will.
Its like that old saying "God is in control".... I mean what even is that? how can we be so blind I mean seriously, was he in control of the rapings and murders that accured on earth? what is that about why do people believe that? we are in control of our own lives. if I decide to go to the shop in 15 minutes then God is not in control of me, I am. Don't mean to come across harsh I just get passionate and its not your fault, so many people believe these religious one liners and they bring so much confusion to the body of Christ.
Psalm 115:16: The highest heavens belong to the LORD, but the earth he has given to mankind

@@rhyannjoedan Todd White is wrong in his interpretation of Job. The book of Job is a stumbling block for people like him because the idea of God allowing suffering is hateful to them. God's absolute sovereignty or control is one of the central truths of Scripture. The Bible is clear that God is in control of all things. Scripture never teaches that things occur by fate or blind chance or that God's hands are tied by our free will.
The study of the sovereignty of God is a difficult truth to understand. It's hard to grasp how God can be in absolute control and, at the same time, how humans can make legitimate choices. Yet this is the clear teaching of the Bible. This is one area that Scripture never tries to reconcile. We should accept the fact that God's sovereignty and human responsibility are both true even though it cannot be understood how they work together.
The doctrine of God's sovereignty is comforting to the believer. Since all things are under his control each believer is secure in his protection. Nothing will happen to any of God's children without the knowledge and consent of God. And you can rest in that truth!

  • @HiHoSilvey
    @HiHoSilvey 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

This false teaching makes me both sad and angry. The idea that God doesn't allow suffering is unscriptural. Todd White doesn't understand how God uses affliction to refine us and draw us close to him.
In the last chapter of Job, who wrote this verse? Was it some man who misunderstood the point or was it a man under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit? "Then all his brothers, sisters, and former friends came and feasted with him in his home. And they consoled him and comforted him because of all the trials the LORD had brought against him."
We cannot always know the mind of God, but we can know God’s character.
The same God who allows a child to die of cancer in a hospital is also the God who sent His Son to die on a cross to pay for the sins of humanity, that though a child may die, through Christ he or she can have eternal life. That doesn't make the pain less horrible, but we have a God of all comfort and a Savior who experienced pain and rejection for us, though he was pure, holy and innocent.
The same God who sent Moses into a wilderness for 40 years to herd sheep is also the God who gave Him the strength to free the Israelites from Egypt and split the Red Sea into two walls of water. And God allowed Joseph to be cast into slavery and Isaiah to be martyred and Paul to be beaten, jailed, shipwrecked and hungry. And yes, God allowed it all!
If you are going through trials right now, are you trusting God? Are you being obedient to the Lord? Do you have unconfessed sin in your life that you need to confess to God and be cleansed? If so, I urge you to repent and trust in Christ as your Lord and Savior. If not, then be faithful and trust that God will see you through. Be willing to totally trust Him even to the point of death.
And find a bible-believing church, authors, and theologians who preach the full council of God faithfully. Know the Bible so well that you will easily recognize counterfeit preaching. Run from guys like Todd White, Dan Mohler, Bill Johnson, etc. These are wolves who have infiltrated the sheep pasture.

I don't get it and I want to. God has all power to stop all bad at anytime so he has to be allowing bad to happen. He has to be allowing satan to do bad things. I want so bad to trust God and yes that he allows bad to happen makes it really hard to trust. If someone can explain this better please do. The only thing I have learned that helps me trust God is that he limits the bad and all of it is according to his plan for eventual good for those who love and obey God.

And the LORD said to Satan, "Behold, all that he has is in your hand. Only against him do not stretch out your hand." So Satan went out from the presence of the LORD. (Job 1:12, ESV)

Julia, when God created man in the garden, He gave man dominion of the earth. Man had complete power to do whatever he wanted because he was given the authority(Gen 1:28 "Fill the earth and govern it. Reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the animals that scurry along the ground"). His dominion was to mirror the One he was obedient to. When he sinned, there was a power transfer that gave satan the authority to the earth that originally belonged to us. With the fall, satan became god of this earth(2 Cor 4:4, Eph 2:2, John 12:31). He has the free reign to kill, steal and destroy as he pleases(John 10:10). God is all powerful but He technically cannot stop things from happening...the key has been handed off. However, through the cross, dominion have been restored to man for those who believe. This is why we've been given the same authority that Jesus had to conquer back territory from the enemy. This is why we pray, this is how we fight. I hope this helps.

Hey Julia, here are my thoughts: what Todd White is saying absolutely captures the heart of God as revealed throughout the Bible. I do think this is probably the ONLY area that Todd White lacks in a clear explanation (although I’m sure he would agree with what I am about to say). God does “allow” evil in the weak sense of the word. He “allows” Satan to still exist, human beings to misuse their free will, and he allows us to live in a world that potentially harms us. However, God does not “allow” evil in the sense of using it, issuing it, planning it, and giving it.
God does know what Satan will do to individual human beings in any given circumstance and may sometimes use that to his advantage, provided we submit to him, we will actually be strengthened by resisting the enemy. We were made to be warriors! Actually, the greatest attack of the Devil was crucifying Christ and God used it for the greatest act of love!
God has secured our past through Christ, our present with the Holy Spirit, and our future when we see the Father face to face. It can sometimes be difficult to perfectly explain how God can allow evil but still have no darkness in him at all. Ask the Holy Spirit to illuminate the scriptures and he will. Sometimes we aren’t meant to figure out every last detail, but we are supposed to KNOW the character of God. It’s really possible and he’s really good. Praying for ya:)
