I just listened to this and let me tell you when he hits that high register I lose my mind I thought it was an absolutely beautiful cover of one of my all-time favorite jock jams
Such a GREAT reaction from You! 🙌🏻 Thank You! 🙏🏻❤️ I am a huge fan of Erik’s! The man on the piano: Jona Tee! ( A dream team) I LOOOOOVE this version! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Yes, he really does the song HIS. 👌🏻 It is shot at a castle in Sweden. Known since the 14th century. During the 17th century one of Sweden’s kings used it when he was hunting! ( The man on the paintings.) Maybe Erik feels like we are hunted in this world nowadays?! Now. I really liked that the tempo was slower than the original. It deepens the lyrics. So does also the wandering in the gloomy park, the restless walks in the big room and Jona’s playing. Altogether makes the song dark and a bit ominous. You THINK of the lyrics this way. And times fly and WHAT about tomorrow?? 2025?? ( We live in a world with a lot of horrible things going on!) Everything in the arrangements are superbly done! 🙌🏻🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Then Erik’s phenomenal voice! Warm, soulful and soothing. But melancholic, yes. Jona’s intense part on the piano underlines Erik’s worry for the future. And that he for so looong in the song continues to sing slow adds to this uncertainty that You can feel! At last he outburst like a cry! Then back to the soft way again. Everything is thought of, and I find it masterly! 🙌🏻🌟❤️🙌🏻🌟❤️🙌🏻🌟❤️ What a New Years’s gift from him!🙏🏻❤️ I wish You a Happy New Year from Sweden! 🎉❤️ ( Yes, Erik is a role model. And he is so sympathetic and humble!❤️❤️)
Melancholic, symphonic, unexpected - this has its own kind of expression. We get used to these two making a song new - and at the same time we don't, it's always a surprise. 🎶 Happy New Year 🍀
Joey Tempest from Europe has been a big part of Erik's career. He even wrote the Foreword for Erik's new autobiography Power. I'm sure Joey is proud of what Erik and Jona did with the song.
I like Erik’s voice for certain arrangements. Again music is a subjective experience. The original piece was a hard driving song with a lot of energy and drama. This arrangement sounded like a funeral dirge. Sorry. 😢
You're right, it has for sure some tristesse and darkness and it can't - and shouldn't - be compared to Europe's power hymn imo. Without comparison at least I can appreciate each of these music pieces for what they are. But as you say - it is a matter of personal taste, and that's how it should be. 🎶
I think that a lot of people are used to the original version that has been played for many years as a hard hitting anthem so it might take a few listens to appreciate this slowed down arrangement but like you said music taste is subjective and this version might not appeal to all which is totally fine 😉
Thank you - Erik always surprise us and this version is so good and suggestive 🌟🎶🇸🇪❤️
