10:32 That's exactly what I did on one of my splits this year. I actually screwed up TWO queen cells. Luckily they had at least one good one left and things worked out for the best.

David, I move a Double Deep like you described (one box at a time) on an overcast rainy day while the bees are home, never had any issues losing the workforce. Some extra top covers make this process a breeze.. My issue this year is queens not coming back from mating, and sudden changes in the weather from summer back to winter chilling brood rearing queens.

Got my first colony last week ...I was told they need split soon ..when I went out to split I was unsure if they needed another brood box or where the queen was ...so I quickly took a screenshot of each frame then looked at each frame later ...
I've been studying the picks for days :) I can see so much more this way ...
Now I have a plan :) I'm going out today to give them a second box and I know which frames to bring up stairs .

I was too late to ask the question about how to use chemicals that require you to remove the honey on a top bar hive... so Ill try to catch your next live prog now I know you do these :)
Re moving the hives - I think I would have built a load of top bars in the new area and moved the bees to them.... the reason I want to do top bars is due to a dodgy back ;)

    On the grass ishews.
    Plant buffalo grass.
It’s a thin bladed grass an very drought tolerant. Won’t grow more than maybe 6” tall.

Instead of mowing around the hives, how about using a battery electric weed eater?

Day but I have a couple of questions for you since I installed my Bees three packages the weather hasn’t been too great. Should I still check for queen releases and how far after you install the bees should you mark the queens thank you again Charlie PA.

sounds like you need to find a bee club in your area and find a mentor. What exactly is the problem? Many colonies or too few.. Facing the right way, feeding them all they can eat... I'm curious

Fire ants. Melted paraffin wax poured down the fire ant hole works great. heat it on gas stove near nest and pour down nest. Then you can dig it up and have a great sculpture. 🤓

When I split a hive, how far away should the 2nd hive be from the first?

Ct bees swarmed caught it right in back yard. 2 weeks later looks like hive do not have eggs or larvae and there were 2 supercedure cells. ! The original hive looks better than the one that swarmed. How long should i wait to do a full inspection on both?

I appreciate your question. You should ask this question on my livestream this Thursday, 7pm CT. Here's the link: www.honeybeesonline.com/live

In the state of Florida there are fire ants whose bite feels like your skin feel as if it is on fire in the bitten area. What works against them is to sprinkle on the ground some corn grits that have been put in a grinder to make small bits. Do not use instant grits that are partially cooked, but instead use raw corn grits. When the ant takes the bits into their under-ground home, the corn grits releases a gas that will force the ants to move out of that area. They will also carry their larvae out. Maybe this could also work on other types of ants. This would not cost a lot to give it a try.

    Great video thx! Great information.
One of my friends from Dept of Ag told me most of the bee media frenzy of large reported bee losses are from commercial bee keepers transporting bees. These bees are exposed to lots of chemicals in crops they pollinate. Long haul transportation also kills many of them.

Bandit use dry grits around each mound the queen will eat the grits and when she drinks water she will pop when the grits swell in her gut
