The Jedi should have gotten better contractors when demolishing the Sith temple, made sure that all the Sith contamination was safely disposed of.
I'm sure they also didn't take away all the asbestos as well.

One of the things I really enjoyed in The Acolyte was the behind the scenes look into what the Jedi were doing to cover up mistakes and keep their public image going. It did a really good job of setting up and understanding some of the mindset the Jedi had by the time of the prequels that led to their downfall... they were so used to being able to do whatever they wanted that when a real challenge presented itself, they struggled with having to overcome it.

You just nailed the premise for a Series set in the high republic. Forget conspiracies and politics, Star Wars meets Indiana Jones... Jedi archeologists searching the galaxy for lost relics! After the first episode introduces our team, they could have the Mandalorians break in and steal the dark saber in which every few episodes could be them trying to reclaim it, which of course never happens. This has potential!

@@g.williams2047 Blame Abeloth. The Yuuzhan Vong did some,.. “modifications”, but not extensive leveling. And the wars with the Imperial caused extensive damage to certain districts. But Luke decided to move away from Coruscant because they were having too many problems dealing with the government and being dragged into their problems and politics and government scrutiny. Which was the problem for the High Republic to the Prequels, only their DA#’s were like “Ok, that’s not Jedi way, but if you tell us to jump, we can guarantee you that the Jedi Order will ask how high, if have of us get hospitalized from hitting our heads against the low ceiling, never let it be said that we didn’t do our part to serve the wishes of the Senate”. rather take the hint that move their headquarters elsewhere. I’ll take Legends’ often dysfunctional New Jedi Order over the Prequel / Clone Wars fools any day.

For me, even more interesting than the towers is the base. Traditionally, it seemed to rest even with the surrounding city. But in The Acolyte, there is a reveal under that level, making the ziggurat seem detached from the rest of the city. It looks intentional, and metaphorical for the position of the Jedi Order at that time.

The fact alone that Jedi had all that complex and extremely expensive infrastructure at their disposal (buildings, ships, energy, fuel, clothing, cleaning, etc) shows how they have become dependent on the governments. People who defend that the Jedi were pure and just should ask themselves how much would that be possible since they needed/wanted to keep those benefits and of course depended on politicians and the super-rich.

    • @Meravokas
      @Meravokas 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Not exactly true. The temple on Coruscant predates the integration of the Jedi with the Republic. During the Mandalorian wars, they weren't an arm of the Republic. I believe the point at which they integrated entirely (Legends info obviously and this is a guess from memory.) is roughly 2,500 BBY.

At least in Legends, Plagueis was using his Muun financial connections to pressure the Senate into certain things (like not intervening in the Trade Federation's blockade on Naboo). I bet that the same thing is happening here. Plagueis, through the Banking Clan, is pressuring the Senate into putting the screws on the Jedi Order while also manipulating the whole Brendok Four tragedy to create a crisis in the Order. It'd very much fit Legend's Plagueis's playbook.

There's a difference between humanizing characters by exploring flaws and strait character assasination. There are certain actions that characters can not come back from, and the worry is that these show runners do not understand that sort of nuance in storytelling. Let's not forget that this is supposed to be a family brand.

FYI, just as one of the benchmark Trials for a Padawan to become a Knight is the construction of their own Lightsabre, one of the Benchmark Trials for a Knight to be advanced to Master (big M) was the completion of a Padawan's Training to attain Knighthood. Anakin never achieved this due to Ahsoka's departure/expulsion from the Order.
While a Knight may be assigned a Padawan by the Council, and be referred to by the honorific "master" (Little m) They are not proper Jedi Masters (Big M) yet.

Will be nice if they can get some consistency together in the lore of the Jedi.
Younglings can get a crystal, craft their own, and use a Jedi weapon as a step towards becoming a Padawan - but not those in the Service Corps? Yet, in The Clone Wars we saw Jocasta Nu draw a lightsaber during that heist. Inconsistent rules.
Allegedly they only continue to train Padawans, Knights, and Masters in using lightsabers and The Force, but with the Medical and Agriculture Corps, they are certainly making use of The Force in their trade. Jedi defend themselves, and others, with their lightsabers..it's also their business card or identification.
Definitely need to seriously and correctly clean up and clarify the whole organization of The Jedi Order.

I need to say it. I doubt that is the reason that Egyptians or Mayans built pyramids. I think there is another reason, based on an ancient sacred knowledge. That being, if you want to build something with stone that is quite tall. It's easiest to build it wide at the bottom and narrow at the top... Oh shit, that's not "sacred knowledge", it's just knowing things.

Sol died because he struggled with the English language. He couldn’t explain things with enough clarity and thoroughly. Who knew a Force choke is a way to kill a Jedi without a weapon? Nobody was predicting this prior to when it happened.
I would read stuff from Reddit and I’m surprised a number of people enjoyed The Acolyte. Even giving it a score of 8.5/10. I’ve seen it being ranked as the 3rd best SW on Disney+ behind Andor and The Mandalorian. Not for me but more power (of Manny) to them. Toxic reviewers who rage bait divides people.
It’s Saturday morning and we’re still talking about The Acolyte. Maybe over time, it will get appreciated more? Prequels were the perfect example of “I guess you guys aren't ready for that yet. But your kids are gonna love it." Maybe in 20-25 years, people will look at some of the Disney Star Wars a little more fondly?
    2024 Movies/TV Rankings That I’ve Seen
    1. Ted
    2. Fly Me to the Moon
    3. House of the Dragon Season 2
    4. Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga
    5. The Boys Season 4
    6. Cobra Kai Season 6 Part 1 (of 3)
    7. MaXXXine
    8. Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire
    9. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes
    10. Bad Boys: Ride or Die
    11. Ghostbusters: The Frozen Empire
    12. The Bikeriders
    13. Civil War
    14. Horizon: An American Saga
    15. Longlegs
    16. A Quiet Place: Day One
    17. Twisters
    18. The Acolyte
I’ve never seen Dune 2 and don’t have any urge to. I know that’s what most people will put at No. 1. I found the first one way too bland. As Maggie from deepfocuslens said, she finds these Dune movies very sterile. Extremely slow and boring.
The Acolyte might be dead last, but I do think it’s overHATED. Some of the undeserved hatred comes from not only review bombing but people who’ve never seen it. They just parrot what other people say about it and go along with them.
Going to rewatch Fly Me to the Moon a third time in the theater. I’m not into rom-coms, but this one I first saw the other day after watching Twisters, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Love the vibe it brings and the 1969 look. The story is actually pretty good. Probably the most fun NASA/astronaut movie I’ve ever seen.
Pacing is good. Music is good. ScarJo has charisma and charm like Julia Roberts and Meg Ryan in the 90s. Channing Tatum has grown on me. I’m very much into comedies because it offers the highest replay value for me. I don’t think Fly Me to the Moon is the best movie of the year. It just happens to be my favorite for being so charming and it never feels slow. It has a historic background story that I find interesting for a rom-com.

So I was ranking all the MCU movies with the exception of The Marvels as I haven’t seen that yet on my Letterboxd app. I think Thor: Love and Thunder and Iron Man 2 are some of the worst films of the franchise but I surprisingly enjoyed them. Love and Thunder is really a bad movie. Maybe a top 7 worst movie from MCU. But it doesn’t mean I hated it.
Maybe that’s how some people feel about The Acolyte? Sometimes being bad doesn’t prevent people from still liking it. Enjoy what you want to enjoy and don’t listen to others telling you not to enjoy it.

I have no interest in watching the final episode of the acolyte. I love star wars. I love the beautiful stories told in this universe bet wen you try to to tell a star wars story with no intention while ignoring the foundation built for you it looses impact. Purpose. A reason for me to want to see it.
Please quit wasting my time and tell a good story. The framework is already built for you. you don't need to reinvent the wheel
