Hi Mr. Deo. You have a great heart, and you are a great mechanic. Thank you for showing us all sides of the auto repair business. Keep doing what you are doing. "The labourer is worthy of his hire." God bless.
It will be back. I've dealt with this before. One customer tried to tell me how to work on his car. I wanted to hire him. He got the message. Bro. You are one patience tech. I hope the customer compensate you for your time. It looked like you were working in the cold. God bless
I wunder why this guy has not a lot of SUB, I like how he shows everything and explains. PLS don't change when U have a lot of SUB, as car tec and the love I have for cars(special cars before 2020). I adore every second of this video. Guys pls show him love by SUBING and likes. Been here since he had less than 20 SUB....
Thank you, Deo! Sorry you did't get the job but this was a great video. As always, watching your diagnostic process and your thinking out loud is very valuable to me.
Excellent Video! You explain everything very well and can follow along easily on every step/ test you do! Love it and keep up the great work! It sucks that they didn't give you the job, because it would have been good to see how it ran with the exhaust backpressure being a bit high!
Great expertise as always 👍🏼 thank you sir; I know a good mechanic that he always declines German cars and I asked him once why ? He said most of time the issue is simple but to get to it is very complicated.
as always, excellent video, although I don't build diesels, you have helped me a lot in diagnosing faults in diesel engines, thank you, continue to offer us your knowledge
Deo I'm so impressed with you immense knowledge and skill, and thoroughness when coming to diagnosis🙏I wish I can train under your tutelage, I can even do it without pay. I appreciate your honesty and commitment to the trade. Kudos all the way from South Africa🇿🇦🇿🇦🙏
Amazing stuff sir watching from Botswana 🇧🇼 I have Nissan elgrand. It crank but no spark, I hv guys diagnose the car but no fault comes seen yo videos aah this guys didn't no how to this diagnose machine. Seeing yo videos make me want to buy this diagnose tool. Much love
I'm really pissed off with the lady. She used your talent and technical excellence and after all this laborious diagnosis and fatigue she gave the job for her dumbass relative. Damn, she should be the cheapest and meanest old lady. I'm really angry after seeing all your effort and knowledge.
I agree she's not cool but we don't know their situation and shouldn't judge her relative who no information was given about. Deo was professional and did his job.
I bet the fellow that she wants to fix it was already in there ahead of you and could not find the problems. Now that you told him what to fix , he will do it under the backyard shade tree with the help of a six pack and a buddy. Sorry but that is not right. If a person wants to be a big shot and drive BMW ‘s they should just fork out the money for the mechanic and parts. The husband was just trying to apease you. You will no doubt never see or hear from him again. However , I certainly learned a lot from you. I am a subscriber of yours . Keep up these great videos.
Sad but true that's why all mechanics must charge a fee for diagnostics. In a way he hasn't done too badly as long as he charges accurately for his time.
Sorry Deo for loosing the job. But the good thing is the customer knows what to do on fixing thos vehicle. I hope the other shop will fix OEM parts to avoid come backs. From South Africa
You're such a nice guy. Well done. It's awesome that you found the issue with all the mess on this car. I would love to know how to test if the fuel regulator is bad when it is in the high-pressure fuel pump not on the rail pressure.
How's things going with you I worked on a 2010 e70 with a no start problem and checked the no5 fuel injector there was water around the top of the injector and the injector had stuck open and caused the very same issue so I got a new injector and it worked so the fact that you had some pressure could be the injectors so don't be surprised if they can't get it running anyway keep up the good work you are doing and I think your a top guy👍👍👍👍
One more great video, I like the way u thinking to pinpoint the problems, I’m sure there is no reason to remove the fan , ( but if u find out about why someone thought it has to be removed , please post it )
I hope this helps. Cameraman Matt, think smooth. Camera stable and smooth. There are devices out there that can help stabilize while holding. When moving between areas, move smoothly between areas. Try to eliminate jerking motions. Think of how smooth it is when you look around. What direction your head turns. Try to recreate the experience of standing there. Try to mimic that in your videos. Otherwise doing great. Keep up the great content.
I would also get a light on the camera for dark areas. Like when looking in engine bays. They make lights for that too, but might be able to find a way to attach a cheap headlamp to yours.
Having this vehicle towed out of there is a blessing in disguise. This has so many layers of fault that fixing the low fuel pressure would be just the beginning. This thing is a basket case.
Deo I hope you charged for your time. That's a lot of troubleshooting for it to be free. A dealer would have charged for this and rightly so. This is your livelihood and it is not unreasonable to charge for your time and expertise. You are a smart and diligent technician and you deserve to be compensated accordingly.
Deo, bravo! I enjoy your videos very much. What is disturbing me is the fuel rail pressure was 6,240 psi. Why replace the high pressure pump? I am not a professional mechanic I,m just an old farmer that does work on my diesel equipment. When I find a problem like you’re experiencing I look at the automatic fuel shut off system. Regards
@jacktaddeo9457 Thanks, the fuel rail pressure sensor was not sending a good signal to the engine computer if there was 6240psi in the rail. we would have had a lot of fuel at the injector when I cracked the line
Her mechanic probably has the missing fan and by the way I wouldn't guarantee your diagnosis with her mechanic installing the parts. No money back guarantee be firm on your decision.
@27:18 Are you sure that some of that raggety foam didn't somehow get into the air intake? (LS) Otherwise can you disconnect an O2 sensor to check the exhaust b-pressure?
Great diagnosis there Deo, I really love it , but I have a question. Why was the Fuel Pressure Sensor recording an accurate reading which was close to the desired fuel pressure if the high pressure pump is not supplying enough fuel to the fuel rail and injectors?

Long video mate, fuel pressure in the rail was meeting desired pressure but you want to condem the fuel pump? exhaust pressure is too high i would be looking at a suspected restriction in the exhaust possibly dpf issue.
Always charge for diagnosis. Free diagnosis is plugging in your scan tool, and telling them to replace the part the scan tool tells them to. What you do is not free diagnostics.
Please remind me not to buy a BMW. Now I know how lucky I am to not buy a 325i Convertible to a Nissan 240SX SE after test driving the BMW in 95. Feel so much better. Your troubleshooting process is without a doubt should be the standard. I hope that customer paid you enough for your time!

I didn't think about this until I read your comment, but this makes perfect sense, and explains almost every symptom seen in this video. Excessive fuel in one cylinder will cause low fuel pressure in the rail, it will also cause the air bubbles seen in the fuel pressure test at the injector, because the piston will push compression gases into the fuel rail during the compression stroke if the injector is stuck open. The final symptom, high exhaust back pressure, can be explained if the car was driven for a while as the injector was starting to leak, as this would cause excessive soot to be created in the exhaust system.
I hope you charged them for diagnosis? At least 2 hours. Typical trash customers that cannot afford a BMW with proper maintenance.Should not own one if you are not going to properly take care of it. Customers that can afford luxury vehicles do not bargain shop for repairs.
