I came here after searching for "invisible bookends" to buy. Can't get more invisible than this, and I don't have to buy anything. This is really clever! THANK YOU! (Doggie so cute)
Thank you! This was super smart and quick. I spent a few mins walking around the house looking for something small and heavy to use as a bookend, but then thought to google diy options. Yours came up and in a couple of minutes my books were in perfect order! I have crafting materials so I used cardstock instead of copy paper to make a bit more sturdy. 🙏🏼
You've got to be kidding?!!! No way?!!! Subbing just because you've saved me a whole heap of green paper so I can use the white paper, I already have!!! Thank you 🤗
This is the best and easiest tutorial I've ever come across! I LOVE this! For shorter paperback books I just cut the computer paper in half, then went along with the tutorial as usual. That way I don't see the paper sticking out for smaller books. Thank you for sharing this!!!
Amazing! I was looking up diy bookends and everything was so expensive until I came along to this although I've figured it doesn't work for fat and tall university text books oh well
It didn't work for me. I tried using some 140lb watercolor paper and duct tape for strength. This bibliophile prefers all the bindings to line up about an inch from the shelf edge. This trick only works if you push them all the way back to the wall, leaving the bindings sticking out randomly.
Gotta love a man who gets upset about non-alphabetical bookshelving, because this is important! BUT the shelves themselves drive me crazy. Not the same length, not at the same height ... smh.
There's another shelf just out of frame on the right which is the same length and height as the one on the left - meaning that the two outer shelves operate as bookends for the inner shelf. Trust me, I've got it all figured out. ;) (Although, I did put them up before I figured out that you could just use paper.)
Useless, Jack. Not 10% strong enough for well-stuffed shelves. Too much balancing needed: most people want something that they can just slap a book against.
I was like “it’s not gonna work... it’s too
Flimsy..” oh ... it worked!
Genius!
Ha! Glad it exceeded expectations :)
this guy seems like such a legend, I laughed multiple times during this video
You're too kind!

Works amazingly! Now I can turn any flat surface into a bookshelf, and believe me, I need this ability!
Hmm, sounds like I'm a bad influence

Genius! Thank you so much. I'll use cardboard to make it indestructible.
Mind blown. To the stationary store!
THIS MADE ME LAUGH
You've got to be kidding?!!! No way?!!!

If they're short books you don't plan on reading again, you could be even lazier and just sticky tape them to each other!
THANK YOU!! Just found this video. My uneven decorative books have been driving me nuts for years. This worked perfectly.
Haha, very happy to help
Omg it works I’m struggling with my manga collection thank you

Amazing! I was looking up diy bookends and everything was so expensive until I came along to this although I've figured it doesn't work for fat and tall university text books oh well
Alpaca try using thicker paper like card stock or something maybe it'd work
Thank you - so simple and yet so clever. Best of all really, really cheap!!!
I'm a bit cheap myself, hence the discovery!
Thank you! Saved my 40 bucks
Needed to double up the paper but omg is this awesome.

Sweet idea. Also, props for the Robert Rankin!
I was so hooked on those as a teen
Jazakallah so much. You helped me upcycle instead of buying it. Why waste money when you can make
Thanks mate!
still a great hack 10 years later, but I found normal printer paper didnt work, but luckily i had slightly stronger card and that was perfect.
Wanted bookends but can’t leave due to quarantine 😅 this is much better THANKS!
YOURE AN ABSOLUTE LEGEND!!!❤️❤️❤️
this worked for me, thanks. :)
when i did mine i put the second piece of tape on the other side so its now triply sturdy?!🤨😂
Nice one! Good idea.
You are a genius!
You just saved me from spending!!! Never knew paper could be so handy!
Papercraft is the absolute limit of my DIY skills
Genius 👍
That's so cool
Trusted the process and wasn’t disappointed! Thank you ❤️

No worries, Eric!
Thank you so much!
I HAVE to try this ASAP!
Thanks!
Way better than all these stupid solutions that cost money, look ugly and take a lot of space.
You're a legend dude.
Can you make my wife invisible?
Omg this works so well thank you!!!!!
this is brilliant, thanks!
This is great!
This is GREAT! I have the exact same bookshelves, and I have the same problem :D
Catrine Maria Olesen Thanks! Happy to be of assistance. :)
I learned how to do this like 8 years ago, and now I'm back learning how to do it again haha
thanks. now all i have to do is find some paper
use the paper from your bills
This is the only advertisement I've ever willingly watched on TH-cam!
Cool. Or you could use a regular book-end and do the same thing with the last book. Pretty good idea for a cheap book-end, though ^^
Yeah, I'm not made of money
Cute dog!
You're fucking AWESOME! THANKS for this!
legendary
IDK what but mine did not work.. the books kept falling. Maybe this works only for light books..
This didn't even work why did you think it would because paper isn't strong enough to hold books
Good point. May I suggest using bricks instead? Or you could simply superglue your books to the shelf! #lifehack
👍Two of the same books. "What? I like to read in stereo." Hahaha 😂
😔I have a book shelf over my bed It almost took my eye out 😂😂
CLEVER.
LUCKY. It was such a fluke that I stumbled across this!
Oh my gosh
do you have a similar idea for a DVD/blu-ray shelf? I can't do this with a DVD/blu-ray case...or can I? ideas?
I recommend doing exactly the same thing, but sticky-taping a DVD case you don't care much about to the outside to hide the paper
Question is the such thing as non-sticky tape?😂
your dog is so cute
genius
thanks man. its 2k24
There is absolutely no way this works, what?
Edit: It freaking worked
This is fucking brilliant thank u so much
Haha, Loved this!
Thanks Helen!
Very cool :)
Time to see if this works for dungeons and dragons books
Doesn't work for dnd books, thanks though
I need an idea for encylopedias??? Any ideas
cool this is a must try haha!
smart!
holy crap :o
kool
Tanya Tate Thanks!

Rose Heptig Yeah, I'm a bit of a slob!
Jack Heath Aw, I wouldn't say that... Slobs wouldn't care if their books were all over the floor!
omg. watercolor papers are freaking ex 😂
I wondered how this could possibly work because I used to work at a library. But we keep all of the books "faced" on the shelf like you talked about
i fucking love you
Thank you, you're too kind!
Or you can not be cheap, and get decorative bookends, that look good, or use the "Floating bookshelf" if you want the minimalist look.
Quinn Roux Unfortunately "not cheap" isn't an option for most writers. But we do love paper!
Now this is a hack!
Gotta love a man who gets upset about non-alphabetical bookshelving, because this is important! BUT the shelves themselves drive me crazy. Not the same length, not at the same height ... smh.

Jack Heath
That actually eases my worry about the different heights! :D
Most kiwi video ever recorded
I made it myself thanks to woodprix website.
Dude, you look like Sherlock.
That's the easiest bookend I saw.
Wooo wow nd here I'm about to waste 700 bucks for no damn reason 😒
Useless, Jack. Not 10% strong enough for well-stuffed shelves. Too much balancing needed: most people want something that they can just slap a book against.
