Rudranath is one of the toughest Panch Kedar temples dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand, India. These five sacred shrines collectively symbolize different parts of Lord Shiva’s body.
Location:
Rudranath lies in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, perched at an altitude of about 3,600 meters (11,800 feet) above sea level.
Panch Kedar Significance:
This temple is a part of the Panch Kedar pilgrimage circuit, which includes Kedarnath, Tungnath, Madhyamaheshwar, and Kalpeshwar. Each shrine represents a specific body part of Lord Shiva.
Rudranath Temple:
The Rudranath Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva in his fierce Rudra form, is the main attraction. It features a natural rock formation revered as a representation of the deity.
Accessibility:
Rudranath can be reached via a trek starting from the village of Sagar, near Gopeshwar. The trail takes pilgrims through lush forests, serene meadows, and breathtaking views of the Himalayas. The temple is usually accessible to visitors from May to October, during the summer months.
