    Nail tech here! Dip and acrylic are technically the same BUT only the powder part. The liquid used to apply are VERY different. Your nails just probably prefer the use of the dip activator rather than monomer which is used for acrylics! Hope this helps!

      I've been doing dip for a while after years of acrylic. Dip results were lifting at the cuticle. Got sick of it. My hair would get stuck on top of nails while washing hair. Lead to fragility etc. NOW I'm officially back to Acrylic. Hoping it works better & stays better. Nite: 3 week intervals for nail care

      This 100%! Acrylic application can leave your nails looking raggedy AF when you soak them off, but thats why you have to keep getting them done. The results are beautiful and last longer than dip nails. On the plus side the raggedness will grow out over time if you decide to stop wearing acrylics.

    I hyate when people talk about dip as if it’s better than acrylic especially those that dip their natural nails. Natural nails can be acryliced and do the same exact thing. The bonding agent is different but they do the same thing. As someone mentioned it’s the prep, removal and how you care for your nails that damages them!

      @@trishah2145this is the real problem. These walk in places been telling people dip is better, stronger, etc. Dip is not stronger than gel, and neither is acrylic. For some brands dip powders and acrylic powders are different… dip powder (yes it is acrylic powder) is more fine and almost powdery like… it is meant for thin overlay layers… it not a “permanent” enhancement because the bonding agent used is always a type of glue…(resin) they are meant to be soaked off in no more than 3 weeks… because as the glue is introduced to water, lotions, oils etc. it will begin to break down… acrylic with monomer… is more course and typically has a strong hold once dry and set… and a full-set can last about 3 months with fills… after that all old product should be removed and new product added…Also everyone is correct by informing others… a professional salon should know to pour out the dip powder in a disposable dipping tray and not stick everyone’s hand in the same jar…it is unsafe and unsanitary…💚

So I think it’s completely the application process, however they shouldn’t come off like that if it’s only been a few days

    Nail tech talk 🤓 dip and acrylic aren’t the same, they just share the same polymer powder. Dip is just a very finely milled polymer powder(acrylic powder). With acrylic, monomer is the activator. With dip, a resin (some cheap brands just use nail glue) is the activator. Acrylic polymerizes more evenly in my opinion. It attaches to the texture on the nail plate that make during prep better than dip and is more solid structurally. Some people also dislike dip because of the fact that salons dip different clients fingers into the same jar of powder.

    So, I just got dip for the very first time instead of a gel manicure. I do not have tips or anything, just my natural nails. My only reason for the change was because my natural nails were splitting on the sides really far down and I needed a solution to protect them. I’m feeling it so far

    It must be the monomer that im allergic to then. Traditional "acrylic " breaks me out and turns my fingers to sausages. But i am perfectly fine with dip! ❤❤❤

    Dip powder process does not use monomer which solidifies the acrylic power the dip version has an “activator” that activates the bond “glue like” bond.

    this is because the acrylic doesn’t damage your nails. i’m a professional nail tech, allow me to explain.
    dip powder and acrylic powder are identical. the process of application is where it’s different. they both use different bonding agents. dip used an adhesive, while traditional acrylic application uses a liquid monomer to bond it. PRODUCT DOESNT DAMAGE YOUR NAILS AT ALL GUYS
    you nails will only be damaged from improper care, prep, or removal. this includes picking at skin or nails, using your nails as tools like opening packaging, or if the nail tech doesn’t do the right preparation on your nails before product. or if you rip them off or remove them the wrong way. if it’s not your habits causing your nail to fall off and break, it is most likely the nail tech. i hope this helps.

    • @jaegerballz
      @jaegerballz 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +24

      i also want to mention that top rated doesn’t mean quality nails. you might be met with great service and complimentary drinks, but that does not guarantee proper training and professionalism. nails is such a risky complicated service as the service provider. little things some nail techs do like using old files on different clients, or improper disinfecting can have very bad odds for infections and danger to the client. my biggest wish as a nail tech is for everybody to understand what to look for while getting a service done, like how the soak off looks, are they over filing your nail bed, or using dirty implements on you. please please be super safe when you get your nails done!

      I've found that the flexibility in gel hasn't caused any damage to my nails vs acrylic which no matter how I take it off wearing them longer than 3 days causes my fingers to swell because they are rock hard with no flexibility, after a while they do strain your nails and it has nothing to do with application or removal. The product is simply hard and warps the nail, again while gel stays somewhat flexible and fixes the shape of your nails.... Please stop lying to people and be honest about products. No acrylic isnt the worst but it's not a good option for already damaged nails at all.

    • @magszon166
      @magszon166 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@andie3448 if you have already damaged nails you shouldn't wear any gel product until your nail plate regrows. The dorsal layer is the only safe one, to put on products, that's because it's fully hardened, if you put gel/acrylic on a damaged nail you simply risk getting the allergen into the body (similar as putting products on cuticles). Were your gel and acrylic nails done by the same nail tech?

    Ik everyone else has said it but dip and acrylic are composed of the same thing. In fact most dip powders double as acrylic. She may have forgotten to prep your left hand which resulted in the entire hand coming off. Also if your left hand is your dominant hand that might play a huge role in it. Either way regardless of how you put it on it has no benefit or bearing. Dip is just less time consuming and cheaper. A gimmic honestly.

    They’re pretty, but I’d recommend she gets a separate jar for dipping individual clients. It looks like she’s using the main product jar to dip your nails which means she does the same for other clients unless every single client has their own powder but very unlikely from what it looks like.

Dip is like gel only harder but should always be taken off. If they fill acrylic with dip it happend to me the nails will lift hopefully this helped

And a nail tech i would never use it infact if you want great natural nails you should get gel extensions or overlays for the long term strengths on your nails.

    Balayage vs highlights is a perfect example of people confusing acrylic and dip. Both highlights and balayage uses the exact same thing- bleach, toner etc. it’s the TECHNIQUE that changes not the ingredients. Same with dip and acrylic. Same base material- different application.

    Sorry, but from metallic to brush dip nude, to these black ones. The nudes look the best, the dipping in power is too thick!!! Even the black ones aren’t great. If you ever get a Russian manicure, you’ll know immediately what great nails look like. Also try going to the same tech so that if there are issues they can be fixed. I’d go back to the nude versions and figure out why one side broke.

      Nail products should not damage your nails, any damage is caused by either how your nail is prepped, the product being improperly removed, or picking at or forcing the product off.
      The fact that the marketing of dip systems has convinced people it’s better or healthier than any other product is wild. My mom and sister once went to back to back to back to back dip manis and their nails were weak and brittle due to the removal of their dip so get out of here saying it does less damage

    Dip= glue on glue but a acrylics u use monomer... right? The prep is literally the same: shaping and art is on the nail Techs capability. But if you rip them off or pop off lifted nails then yeah.. u taking some natural nail layer with it when instead soak off is an option (salon or not) acetone is accessible everywhere and cotton balls as well 🎉🎉 ❤

    The products are probably from separate brands and one may have chemicals that are ruining your nails but as a licensed nail tech I’m here to clear this up.
    Acrylic and dip are the same thing just applied different
    But the nail prep should be the same.
    So just be careful what they’re putting on your nails girl!
