This single tip has completely transformed my golf swing. It has solved so many other ‘problems’ I thought I had. Thank you so much, I now have clean contact, heaps of compression and a full, easy follow through. Brilliant stuff, and sooo simple.
yeah this has also solved a lot of problems I was having too. Before I was standing way too close to the ball and was having terrible contact including hitting hosel rockets to the right quite often. Now I am hitting the ball more consistently in the middle of the club face. It feels a little odd, like I am standing too far away, but that's because I have been standing far too close for far too long. Thanks!
thank you, I want to start playing but I have no one to teach me, and going to the range and just swinging. I had no idea what to do to create a consistent swing, can't wait to implement this!
This is absolutely gold advice I struggle with being to close to the ball meaning I stand up and hit behind the ball a lot can’t wait to put this into practice thank you
I recently started playing again but wanted to learn the right way. I have been watching many golf instruction videos. These are great tips that are explained in a way i understand and not taking 15 minutes to do it!
Yeah I don’t know. I feel like this tip is pushing me wayyy too far away from the ball. I’m a pretty good golfer (+7) and recently been quite concerned with my swing so I’ve been reconstructing it, but this is putting me pretty far away from the ball.
A +7 handicap is not far off top tour pros. He’s trying to ascertain wether you mean a 7 hcp or +7 seven. If you’re a +7 handicap, why would you be reconstructing your swing?
All due respect, i agree w others that it feels too far away. I know for a fact tour players are way closer. Maybe i have short legs compared to sternum, but i would say “smack dab middle thigh/quad”
Great video, I was shown the hold the club parallel to the ground and then pivot until the club touches rhe ground and the difference between your method and that is so different. Its like 10-15 cm which is crazy for consistency.
Too low for me I’m short). I suspect it’s due to difference in height, arm length, and club length if different from standard. I love this tip but think I need to just zero in on how many inches above knee works for me
Surely it depends where the ball is laterally. I.e. off the left toe or middle of the stance. Or do you measure whilst your feet are together and then separate your feet into the address position?
So ill doubt you will see this, ive been struggling with coming over the top for about two years and for the life of me i could not figure out why. Thanks to my short game ive been able to put together low 80s not knowing which way the ball was going to go each swing to swing. Well. You my friend, thank you. I was standing about three inches too far away, and if i swung in to out id almost miss the ball. My body was naturally coming over to compensate. Shot my first round under 75 today in about 3 years. Edit: I want to kiss you and sorry for the long post
EXCELLENT instructions! As with your other videos you keep it concise, simple, and clearly explain the process WITH some examples of how NOT to do it. Which helps me a lot to know and understand the exact correct position to be in. One question tho, in the video at roughly 1:28 when you show the head on view, you have the club handle "pressed" forward quite a bit towards your lead/left leg...in YOUR set up to the ball, do you use that much forward "press/lean" when you set up? Thank you for your time and consideration for answering my question!!
The video below covers your question well but essentially the end of the club should point towards your left hip for most shots. th-cam.com/video/jCBtp_FU7uY/w-d-xo.html
I line the club up to the ball in the sweet spot, then get close enough that with a squared face the handle drops into my pubic region just below the belt line, with any club in slight flexed knee position. However my method is for those who swing with side bend, as it promotes a more upright stance which means standing closer is necessary. So it really matters whether you side bend or not… this video is targeted towards those who don’t utilize side bend. If you side bend and do this videos method… you are going to toe slice your long irons/woods/driver.
I think my clubs are too long for me, I grip it in the center of the grip and do the measuring above the lead knee part and have my stance correct but when i go back to grip, it just feels to far away like im reaching on the downswing and i cant full rotate in time…
I am a novice golfer. I notice when you find the correct distance for your driver, only the heel is touching the ground. Is this something you would correct by shortening your grip or have an expert adjust the lie angle. Maybe just move the ball back or forward in your stance or change your stance to open or closed? This is a very complicated sport.
It is possible that this tip doesn't apply perfectly to everybody and for every club they use. Ideally, you would certainly want to see the clubhead flat on the ground, with the heel and toe mostly level. Yes, a lie adjustment could possibly help. Thanks for watching and for your comment.
For chipping (and even for pitching) you may want to lower your hands on the grip (gripping down), so no, you would be closer to the ball for those shots.
Thank you very much for this and all your helpful videos. When measuring do you put your club in the center of your stance or do you adjust the location 1/2" forward for each club length longer than a pitching wedge, as shown in a previous video? I hope this and other instruction on your site is going to help me make consistent contact with the ball. I have been playing golf for 30 years and still have a tendency to top the ball with most every club except when the ball is teed up. Also, my club often does not hit the ground. I'm going to hit balls this afternoon, following these instructions - thank you!
I watched and studied this lesson and practiced at a driving range. I was able to hit the ball more regularly - great! However, I found that placing the tip of the club a few inches above my front kneecap did not work at all. But when I adjusted height to about 5" above my knee cap I got the results I reported. I'm 6'2" with a 29" and a longer than regular torso so the standard measurement doesn't work for me. Another plus about this video is I have a better understanding to flex my knees rather than bend them and go into a crunch. I had to lean my torso over a bit more over the ball. There is great information and demonstration in this video (and site), keeping in mind adjustments may be necessary for individual bodies. I plan to practice what I'm learning to incorporate it into my play. Thanks!
Is it normal to feel tension in the back of the knees when taking this position for a prolonged amount of time? It makes the back of my knees feel as if they're holding up most of my body weight when I lean over, even when I'm flexing them.
This doesn't seem right. You're the expert, but looking at pro golfers, ie pga tour golfers, they seem to be closer to the ball than you're suggesting. Especially for shorter irons. Worth trying though thanks!
Well, as you just said, it's relative. Shorter irons you need to be def closer. I think Jon Rahm sets up very close, but it's because of his heavy rotation style. This video is standard/neutral, where everybody should be as a starting point.
@@OrvinReyesIf i address this way, there’s enough room from the grip end of my 7 iron and my belt buckle for 2 or 3 fists to fit in the gap. Isn’t this too much???
This is the best distance video, period. Others are based on "feel", like "hang your hands", "lay the club down", etc.... those are unhelpful. This one is simply based on logic and math. 100%

Ditto. I put this into practice this afternoon and my inconsistent striking and missing fairways disappeared.
Genuinely such a useful tip for us high handicappers!!!! Thank you
Finally, a good tip on how much distance to have to the ball. Thank you.
Super simple vid, but helped me out so much. I was too close and topping every swing, but now I'm hitting them with very good contact!
Great to hear, keep up the good work!
Finally a good guideline…Thankyou

Brilliantly explained, thank you!

Thanks for the great videos has improved my golf game in ways words cant describe has also made a new enjoyment of the game for me
That's great, thanks for the feedback! We post every week so be sure to subscribe so you don't miss any.

Thank you for noticing and for watching! We respect your time and go straight to the point.
Super simple never seen this tip before thank you. Will definitely try that tomorrow
Nice little trick. I tend to creep too far away from the ball gonna try this a reference thank you
This feels so far away from me which tells me everything I need to know - I stand way too close to the ball! Cheers for the tip.
Thanks for sharing your feedback and for watching!

Great video. Simple but brilliant. Thanks
It took me an hour to find a video explaining this concept. I will try it today and let you know the result. Thank you!
An hour doesnt seem much when we been waiting 2 months for the update :(

Holy crap thanks for this I usually don't comment on these but concise and to the point.
Wow! this tutorial and explanation was mind blowing. Thank you

I half expected you to swing with both clubs at the end; that would have been awesome.
Thank you so much, can't wait to take it to the range.

Thanks for the tips! New to all this and you explain it rlly good!

Somewhere along the line my thought process was stand further away to generate more power, man i was wrong. Take care!!!
Just what I needed. Got a case of the shanks recently and have discovered I am way too close to the ball with short irons. Cured.
Good stuff sir

Sounds good , so it’s two inches above lead knee for all clubs
Thank you.
