I planned to start this in September, but I got sick, weather, new job etc..... was planning to take it away for the opening on the Cod season in December, so don't think I'll make it. Hopefully its a fun project :)
I love your enthusiasm. Well done. I haven't watched your next ones yet, but when I worked on my little 6x4 camping trailer, I discovered that you must register if you ever going to go interstate, and, believe it or not, if it was initially made to carry tools, even if it's not being used as a tool carrier currently (which to some degree I guess it is because of some camping tools) but as I wanted to be able to take it out of Vic, I decided it needed registering, which, to be honest, costs bugger all really.
Yep, cheap as chips for a 6X4, even the camper was $60 or $80 or something I didn't even care about. if it has bed or transports a boat it needs to be registered also, but since the legislation changed recently the process to get a VIN would have cost me more than just buying a cheap camper. So here we are.
You and me both, haha. I have some ideas and have made some basic plans in sketchup, the base size is 1900 X 3000 and I'm planning on a standard queen bed mattress so that will take up most of the space, typical galley in the back. Really looking to have a setup that will be done and dusted within 10 minutes of arriving at site.
One other thing to think about when buying a trailer from interstate, at least here in NSW, is that even if the trailer/camper/caravan etc. is registered, it still has to go over the pits BEFORE it can gain NSW registration. It's a pain in the arse but there it is...
in nsw you can go get a blue slip and if it has no vin number the rta will give the mechanic a number to stamp on to draw bar and classed as home made trailer
I looked into the process in VIC and homemade or not, it's now the same process, has to be registered in the DOT database before it can be registered, that means all manner of hoops to jump through, not to mention the cost involved. A huge crackdown on rebirthing stolen trailers means they make it hard now.
hey cant wait to see more videos sounds like a great project

Yeah, I was pretty shocked to find there is no roadworthy certificate required to transfer ownership in Vic, I'm guessing its only a matter of time.
