I wonder when H&K will complete the development of their HK433 so it'll become generally available. It would be very interesting to see how they combined the G36 and HK416 platforms. I know Sweden and Finland is looking to either buy or license the HK433 and modify for nordic conditions (like Sweden did with the licenced FN FNC which is the current service rifle which will be replaced). They're also looking at the FN SCAR, HK416 and HK417.

On the OTB features - there is also a nub on the inside of the locking lugs of the barrel extension, to prevent the extractor from blowing out. It is simple to remove or swap out the handguard, but it is in my opinion a poorly designed solution. The reason for this is that you will experience zero shift on equipment when remounting the handguard, unless you tighten down the screw with the same torque every time. I was in one of the units first issued HK416N's back in 2008, and we discovered this, which led to a change in how equipment was mounted to the gun.
You said the old ones just had one setting on the gas block. I had the 1st gen HK416 in the army and that one had a switch on the gas block to select suppressed / un-suppressed. After many of them had problems they got upgraded to not have the gas block adjuster anymore and it worked flawlessly suppressed and unsuppressed.
In 2014 I chose/purchased the LMT CQB AR with a monolithic upper over the HK MR556. The two primary deciding factors for me was the weight and the price of the HK. I found the HK a little too heavy and high in price. The HK was, at the time, $2900.00 and the LMT was $1700.00. I have absolutely no regrets and love my LMT. If money was not an issue, I would have also bought the HKL.

I bought a Ruger SR 556 in 2014 with three position gas (piston) setting including a fourth position to turn gas off for closed bolt (super quiet suppressed) firing. Thick, heavy, cold hammer forged barrel that hits sub MOA. JP captured buffer spring and Timney are the only two modifications I've made. Great Rifle! HK416 is an amazing rifle, I served in the Selous Scouts during the Rhodesian Bush War and the rifle saved my life, it never jammed and I never needed to clean it.

I was, dare I state, pleasantly surprised by the price for the MR-556 A5. It's sitting around $3K. I remember when the original was first introduced here in the U.S. it was something like $5K. I'm guessing the originals were imported so that, at least partially, explains that price.
The price for guns produced in Germany is that high, because of the high income of employees and the high tax rates over here. Same goes for our cars and literally everything produced in Germany. And ofc you pay the label "Made in Germany". 🫡
Used the 416 for the last two years. Ambi bolt release is great. Ambi mag release is crap. We use zip ties to block the lever because it WILL get hooked on your plate carrier/mag pockets and you will drop a mag.

Caught me off guard. Made me check what day it is! A surprise, but a welcome one! One of my personal gripes with the HK416 A5 is the stock. To be precise the witness hole for the stock position can grab your facial hair so when you go offline you always rip some beard out... Not a huge issue but, some small detail..

Isn't ADM's ambi system just a prettied up version of the PDQ ambi system you can buy and add to any lower, with alittle dremel work? And they also come on aero percisions ambi lowers? ....if I am mistaken please correct me honest question. I personally prefer LWRC ambi lowers, and POF-USA gen 4 ambi lowers(but I get some people dont like the bolt hold open being in the trigger guard on the POF, but that's gonna leave them out of buying alot of modern guns, more and more are going to bolt hold open and release in trigger guards).....I have never been a huge fan of HK, I think they are overrated, and I think the company Executives, are pro civilian gun control and that is the reason why countries like Canada can get g36 rifles, but we get sl8 rifles, Canada has stricter gun control. So HK feels safe to sell the good shit there.

Caught me off guard. Made me check what day it is! A surprise, but a welcome one! One of my personal gripes with the HK416 A5 is the stock. To be precise the witness hole for the stock position can grab your facial hair so when you go offline you always rip some beard out... Not a huge issue but, some small detail..

@@Kevinj36541 I did, and do. But what's the point in the design then... IMHO it would be better if there was no hole and the markings were on buffer tube aligned with the edge of the stock.

Almost didn’t recognize that was an HK416 right there. It’s got the 416 barrel but the upper receiver on that 416 looks drastically different from the original.

Facts, Mike doesn’t seem to like the lever bolt catch system that ADM and HK use, however I find it to be really intuitive and love it on my UIC

Isn't ADM's ambi system just a prettied up version of the PDQ ambi system you can buy and add to any lower, with alittle dremel work? And they also come on aero percisions ambi lowers? ....if I am mistaken please correct me honest question. I personally prefer LWRC ambi lowers, and POF-USA gen 4 ambi lowers(but I get some people dont like the bolt hold open being in the trigger guard on the POF, but that's gonna leave them out of buying alot of modern guns, more and more are going to bolt hold open and release in trigger guards).....I have never been a huge fan of HK, I think they are overrated, and I think the company Executives, are pro civilian gun control and that is the reason why countries like Canada can get g36 rifles, but we get sl8 rifles, Canada has stricter gun control. So HK feels safe to sell the good shit there.
