- Shadow chief secretary to the Treasury Darren Jones has accused the government of being in "complete chaos" after a leak suggested ministers were considering weakening some of their green pledges.
Home Secretary Suella Braverman earlier told Sky News "we're not going to save the planet by bankrupting the British people" in response to the leak.
Asked if Labour was committed to net zero before 2030, Mr Jones insisted Labour had a "very clear policy" on achieving that.

Ban or not, all the manufacturers are fully committed now anyway. There will be no new petrol or diesel cars on sale in five years time. The production lines are already starting to wind down as new models are EV and all R&D for petrol & diesel engines stopped years ago

The best selling car in the UK is an EV. All manufacturers are now committed to ending ICE manufacture well before 2030 because it's too expensive to make ICE & EV at the same time. Like it or not (and I don't) there will be no new EV cars available within 5 years other than a few supercars
