Why Clinical Coding Matters

  • Clinical Coding is the process by which clinical documentation is used to categorise and qualify the complexity of care a patient receives. Coding Matters is an educational campaign designed to educate medical staff in public hospitals to improve their clinical documentation to better inform accurate clinical coding. This has several important outcomes which will benefit staff, patients and the organisation. Watch this introductory video to learn more then check out the series of videos which focus on different areas of coding.

    Thanks Andrew. Brilliant intro into medical coding. Where can one dig for more? Books, articles, further resources?

      There is a phone App, WriteItRight, which is useful when on the wards. There are websites with basic introductions to clinical coding but I don't know of where more detailed info can be found. HIMAA is the national association: www.himaa2.org.au/education/

      Hello sir ...I have 5 year experience in medical coding having CPC- certification. Recently moved to Australia Victoria. Can you please suggest me what I will do get certification and also job .

      @@PreetiSingh-mw7vw CDIA does accreditation of medical coding towards recognition as a clinical documentation specialist. Jobs can be found by searching through australian job search providers like SEEK or looking up individual hospital network's websites for vacancies
