Richard Hoover is a legend and one of the nicest guys. Always seems willing (and excited) to talk about guitars. Loved this. Thanks so much for spotlighting a true master.

I was also created in 1976, and my D/PW is the nicest guitar I've ever owned. I'd love to get a custom one someday.

I met Dumble one town over from Santa Cruz around 35 years ago now. I wonder if he ever went to Santa Cruz Guitar?

Real pearls of wisdom being shared here by Richard for anyone who will take the time to listen and absorb! Great interview John!

Just because you lack the skill(or will) to differentiate and find nuances in wood and it's tonal qualities doesn't mean everyone can't, especially a guy like Richard that has more experience than you and I combined. Try and be more open minded about things, you will enjoy your life more.

@@FabianSalomonsson I think you will find a veritable plethora of videos disproving this nonsense , not saying the man isn't vastly more talented than me , but yea , this is the emperor is wearing no clothes material .

@@FabianSalomonsson Look up his other comments. He’s just a Les Paul Burst worshiper while despite the innovator like Richard and PRS. It’s ridiculous to say the material don’t matter in acoustic instrument.

@Dad-Gad We all know the videos you're talking about, and none of them disprove anything.
But keep using interesting but unscientific clickbait to argue against experts. Seems to be the way of the world now.

I could actually hear the bass when he tapped on the plane board with his fingers! And a different tone from each type of wood!

If you dug that, next next installment of this series is going to blow you away!!! Richard shows us exactly how he "tunes" the top, back, neck, and sides to create resonate frequencies that are personalized for each player. You get to actually hear it, and it was literally mind blowing to see a true master of his craft explain all the details.

I don't put much stock in the idea of tone wood. Specifically, I don't buy that differences in wood make a huge difference for tone w/ solid body electric guitars. Acoustics, I buy woods makes a difference.
