- Track 09 from the album McCartney - 1970
Baby, I'm amazed at the way
You love me all the time
And maybe I'm afraid of the way
I love you
Maybe I'm amazed at the way
You pulled me out of time
You hung me on the line
Maybe I'm amazed at the way
I really need you
Maybe I'm a man
Maybe I'm a lonely man
Who's in the middle of something
That he doesn't really understand
Maybe I'm a man
Maybe you're the only woman
Who could ever help me
Baby, won't you help me to understand?
Maybe I'm a man
Maybe I'm a lonely man
Who's in the middle of something
That he doesn't really understand
Maybe I'm a man
And you're the only woman
Who could ever help me
Baby, won't you help me to understand?
Maybe I'm amazed at the way
You're with me all the time
And maybe I'm afraid of the way
I leave you
Maybe I'm amazed at the way
You help me sing my song
You right me when I'm wrong
Maybe I'm amazed at the way
I really need you
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa
Won't you help me to understand?
Maybe I'm a man
Maybe I'm a lonely man
Who's in the middle of something
That he doesn't really understand
Maybe I'm a man
You're the only woman
Who could ever help me
Won't you help me to understand?
"Maybe I'm a lonely man who's in the middle of something that he really doesn't understand"
That is just a tremendous lyric
vic vega I LOVE THIS SONG
vic vega 31st the holy seems to be like a faint of duty black ops zombies will be the earth
the whole frikkin song is amazing.
Oh yes so true
Richard W That line in the song, was written during the break up of the Beatles, where Paul felt lost during that time. And Linda kept bolstering him, saying- "You'll be fine. You're gonna survive this. You don't need the Beatles. You're gonna be great, all on your own. You're Paul McCartney after all"
And she was right.
Paul and Linda’s children will always have this video to look back on and knowing how much their dad loved their mom. Such a precious song!
My thoughts as well ,take care.
They don't need a TH-cam video. They lived it.
Its not about Linda, its about his Long time Mistress, Lalonie Secord.
This isn’t a good song actually.
@@marissameeks6645 oh no? still far far better and fathomlessly more significant than anything you have ever done or will ever do, even your solitary death won't make a ripple in the waters of the world.
My favorite:

Everybody should be as lucky to be loved like Paul loved Linda.
Your time will come soon. Hang in there ❤
I'm still waiting
One of the best songs Paul McCartney has ever done, in my opinion!
Couldn't agree with you more!
Probably my fave song by him as a solo artist
Agreed, 1st heard it when released in 1970
Agreed
Oh really? How bout RAM?
This song was played at my wedding.
It was the song right before my lady was introduced as my wife.
June 19, 1999
Tears fill my eyes when I hear it now
You go brother! Wish you and your family all the best!!!
Beautiful memory!
You got married exactly a year before i was born, hahaha. I wish the best to your family!
Number9, number9, number9

Paul played every instrument in this song..
now that's talent!!
That’s what I’m talking about!!!!!!
Genius

Linda was so good for him. He loved her more than himself. RIP Linda.
I was 19 when this song was out...I am now 67 and this song hasn't been surpassed yet.
i am 64 and i have always wanted to Marry Paul McCartney since i was 12 and i would still marry him, Ha Ha
@@susanhyland7728 Ha! Omg, I totally get where you're coming from. I'm 51, and despite the fact he's old enough to be my dad, I'd marry him in a heartbeat. 😉 Saw him in concert for the very first time in October and damn! He may be in his 70's, but he has as much energy as person half his age. Such an amazing man.....
My mom was born in '51 so I am sure she will concur. I was raised on all the classics.
bclover12311 you are blessed to have grew up with this awesome type if music...Being a 90s baby I honestly feel deprived😩😩😩
hey jude did
It's crazy how each individual member of The Beatles was able to go solo in the 70s and make music that was just as great as the music they made in the 60s. I don't know of any other band that has accomplished something like that. 😎
Ringo
@@michelleharper145 he made the 1971 hit song called "It Don't Come Easy." Also "Photograph" a couple of years later.
all four had hits at the same time. no other band could even think of that
@@michelleharper145 Photograph went to number 1 in 1973.
All 4 are in the RNRHOF, too as solo artists. What other band can boast that?
All I had to see was Paul McCartney with his wife Linda and their children and all that bs flew right out the window. He's a good man and you can see it in his eyes. No showmanship just a genuinely nice man. Peace
❤❤❤❤👁👄👁
Yes. I have always felt that about Paul He seems nice, kind and genuine. I have heard to the contrary. I clean for a lady who has become a friend and she knew them all back in Liverpool. Her best friend was Cynthia's best friend at art school. She prefers John. I think John was hard-edged, sarcastic and unkind. Paul was emollient and people maybe saw that as dishonest. But he was the one who visited Cynthia when John had left her for Yoko and wrote Hey Jude for Julian. Also Paul founded a lovely family, didn't he? and Linda was a lovely lady.
Ah, Linda was so lucky to have Paul write her such a beautiful, timeless song.
Paul played every instrument on this... pure genius!
... And at the same time, too!
I bet it wasnt on one take
Indeed. Shame he wasn't a natural drummer. Good effort though.
Paul Mc played the entire albums, drums, bass, guitar, harmony etc.........remember George Michael, he did that on "Faith", some people are geniuses,,,some may be a bit of a mess also....
yes! Brett what a great musician indeed.
You can tell by listening to this song that He was madly in love her. No other love song does that.
tesh punja i can tell by listening that this isn't the original paul! ..-gotcha!
That is true, Tesh. This is very specific to a woman who is beyond loved. It is unique.
I am contradicting myself. Laila did that. Eric Clapton was madly in love with Patti Boyd but, sadly, once he got her, he grew tired of her. Paul never did that with Linda. His love just grew and deepened and that lovely family cemented it.
So much!!! Breaks my heart.
“No other love song does that” is a boooollldd statement but yes, you can tell he really loved her
Happy Birthday! Sir Paul McCartney, Paul turns 82 yrs. old today June 18, 2024! Have a great day!
The baby in the jacket is the cutest thing. I smile every time I see her.
Paul McCartney is a genius that's all I have to say
briza hermandez Would like to add what a good human being Paul is. He cares passionately for animal welfare.......That makes him extra special in my book.

briza hernandez, you r correct, we have a winner here folks! Give this lady some money!!! He really is awesome!!! Glad ppl recognize this about him and that he did this entire album "Bowl Full of Cherry's" all alone. Dusty the 2nd. P.S. I really mean it, hope I did not come off like an a-hole. Not my intention, really agree with you so much, that is all.

Great father. Paul's always good with kids.
I have this postered on my room's wall.
It's the most adorable picture, to the point I get a bit teary-eyed every time I see it.
"Maybe I'm a lonely man who's in the middle of something he doesn't really understand."
All men, let's sit back and think about how relatable this lyric is.
Yeah, these words have been going over and over in my head lately, too true too real
You two are real men - not very many men would admit to that, and in all the right places and to all the right women. If yous haven't done so already, yous are on the road to making two women out there very happy indeed. Just goes to show that chivalry is not dead.
As I sit here enjoying a beer on a beautiful September evening, I listen to this song & after celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary this past June, I’m still amazed. It’s a true gift to find someone that loves you unconditionally even when you don’t deserve it. Maybe I’m amazed, lucky, blessed, all the above🙂

It's even more amazing how he did everything in this song.

Watching this 50 years later in 2020 over an iPhone: technology grew, but music shrunk!! BEST SONG OF ALL TIMES!!!
amen...music wet from talented geniuses in the 60's and 70's to untalented non melodic crap, but we will never lose the great ones thanks to tech
I'm probably younger than you but great music is great music. I'd say 60-70's fantastic, got great again for a moment in the 90's and has been gone since imo. Technology has crippled us more than it's helped.
Tell us some stories 🙏🏻
@@yjjeeper1 it gave the facilities for way more people to make music and enjoy themselves. And also for them to make a living from that, so way more people are making music so you dont have to get high on the charts to be able to continue anymore so there is no filter. @@kingeddiam2543 I agree 100%. It’s not that music shrunk, it just got spread out so much that it kinda lost its luster
Linda is his soulmate, he actually wrote this song because she helped him grieve his mother's passing, she's the reason he's a vegetarian, she is the most important person he ever knew, and the great love of his life, when Paul gets to heaven which I hope is many years from now they will be reunited in heaven for eternal bliss in each other's arms.
Thank you.
The more you listen to Paul the more you realize that he was by far the greatest Beatle. Best musician of all time.
One of the best multi-talented musicians in rock. Could probably have been one of the great guitarists of our time but chose to become a great songwriter instead.

When I was in 8th grade they would play this song in art class. Growing up here in Lakewood, Colorado we listened to all kind of Beatles songs and I remember the summer when the D.J.s were putting it out that Paul was dead. Remember that.
Linda was beautiful no make up just a natural beauty.

@@orlandolopezmartinez5282 hahahaha
Lol we will probably never meet in life anyway
I did dedicate this song to a lady one time, we been married goin on 6 yrs now love every day of it.
Why don't you dedicate this song to them
I think we can agree that Paul has the best vocals out of all the Beatles
No we can't. Who's 'we'? Everybody?
No way! George had the nicest singing voice by far. Paul rocked the rock stuff (Helter Skelter etc) but then listen to Lennon in Twist & Shout!
@@clothilde1623 No way! George had a nasal tone, poor articulation, and no range at all. Paul's voice was clear as a bell on balads as well as gravely and throaty on songs like "Helter Skelter and "Why Don't we do it in the Road". Paul Simon had a sweet, pure sound like Paul, but couldn't do the rock stuff. I'm open to friendly rebuttals.
@@markrobinson2514 You have to account for personal taste, mister. I’m not denying that Paul is an excellent vocalist, but there’s something about his tone that I’m just not overly fond of, whereas _for me_ George’s tone is just gorgeous, especially on some of his solo songs such as _Beware Of Darkness_ (the acoustic version where he was unaware he was being recorded). And I completely refute your allegation that his tone is “nasal”! If you’d said it about Lennon then I could perhaps understand why, but not George. Likewise, I have absolutely no problem understanding his lyrics so thoroughly disagree that his articulation is in any way lacking!
Don’t come much better than this !
Paul is a true genius. He is the Beethoven of the 20th century.
linxMuppet That would be Jimmy Page.
TRUE
yes
igor stravinky is the paul mcartney of the 24th century
linxMuppet to me once Fauls greatest success in Hey Jude turned out to b ztraight up stolen from a demo tape the Zephers sent into Apple records for consideration for Apple to sugn the band, at that point real Paul became forever a higher level then Faul could ever b considered in my book

So will we. She was good for him
THEY LOVED EACH OTHER A LOT
he would be married to Linda he adored her love her forever .. Linda was his soul mate if she had not died he would never ever remarried.i know his heart still.belongs to sweet Linda x
Always! He will always love and never forget Linda.....
Well of course, had she not died there would be no need for him to remarry.
_Maybe I’m amazed at the way you help me sing my song_
_Right me when I’m wrong_
That has to be one of my favourite lyrics of all time. Admitting that your partner is right and you are wrong is something most people do begrudgingly, if at all. Not only does Paul appreciate Linda contradicting him, he _celebrates_ it, and that demonstrates the depth of his love and admiration for her. Such a simple little thing but so beautiful.
Love that line too. Shows his humility and appreciation.
This is my favorite of Paul's post- Beatles songs. Layering tracks of piano, organ, bass, drums, harmonies and vocals, there is an energy in this tune that is palpable. The guitar solo is great, the semi-tone run-up a fantastic hook, the vocal is fab! ( A full throat high D. ) All in all, Linda inspired one of Paul's best love songs.
And he did it all at home, with a simple 4-track recording setup.
@jamesdrynan… Mull of Kintyre ranks right up there also, don’t you think? Along with Uncle Albert. The list can go on and on with Paul, agree?
STILL SOUNDS GREAT IN MARCH 2019
Still prefer the faces cover version even if it doesn’t have the personal passion McCartney put into it.

The most talented man of his generation, or any other. God what a talent.
Rick Snyder, you said a mouthful. I love him as well, great talent is an understatement. Great comment. Dusty the 2nd.
He wasn't even the most talented man in his group!
Yeah, he was. As a musician, he was more skilled than the others. Arguably their best guitarist. Definitely their best keyboard player.
But Lennon had the most soul! I'd rather listen to John's or George's solo albums than Paul's.
While he may not have been lyricly as good as Lennon, he was absolutely more melodic than John in his songwriting. But they were all great. That's why they're the best.
This is a long time favorite along with long and winding road. Both amazing work.

Give credit where credit is due, Paul McCartney is a talented man. I particularly like his guitar work on this song. I like the guitar solo a lot.
Teachering Well yes, he is a talented man. Bit of an understatement though wouldn't you say? He is in fact one of the two most successful songwriters in history along with John Lennon.
mrfester42 My statement was tongue in cheek. A bit of a poke, so to speak. No, it is not an understatement to say that Paul McCartney is talented. When I listen to the solo work of McCartney and John Lennon, much of what they recorded on their own is mediocre at best. Born in 1954, I grew up with The Beatles. Their music had a powerful influence on me and those of my generation. As a team, McCartney and Lennon were marvelous song writers - indeed an understatement. On their own, they were weak. I believe that it was George Harrison who proved himself to be the superior talent and quietly coloured much of the sound that was The Beatles.
Don't think anyone would argue your point. This album was a testament to his exceptional talent, because he played all of the instruments himself.
He liked it too.
Biggest understatement of the century

Sherry MS M to You.....Dont know how old you are but I am old enough to remember when these two got together and the flack Linda received in the press and by the fans........She was called all sorts of names and it did not let up for many years...........Paul saw in this woman what his fans could not. She was a classy, compassionate, strong-minded lady and I am sorry she died so young
Yes. Linda was so the one for Paul. She may have started as a photographer trying to get a subject or possibly a Beatle,, but she became everything he describes in those early songs. She married him, created a home and gave him a lovely family: a haven after the loss of The Beatles. She got him on the road again after the loss of his brother Beatles and they created Wings. She knew her voice would not exactly sell out opera houses out but it might make a little pretty harmony in an on-the-road band so they went that way. Wings was formed and the rest is history.
If not the best, surely one of the best composed and recorded rock songs...
Listen with headphones!
