All teams take part in all races and there are some 20+ races throughout the season. In this tour, there are no regulars! Even the GCT, which uses a points system, has regulars who have to attend a fixed number of tournaments. A points system to determine a champion in a tour with no explicit regulars makes no sense! Forget that, no tour that has an arbitrary qualification system, without almost all spots being open qualifier spots, should call itself a "World Championship" in the first place. Among the qualification for each grand slam, 3 rating spots are decided based on FIDE ratings of an arbitrary month (they chose April 2024 for the first grand slam probably just to make sure Alireza/Nodirbek get in), there are 2 wild card spots and 1 recent tournament winner (with no stipulation on which tournament will be chosen). Maybe they should drop the pretense and just make it invitational? They have full right to do that and nobody would complain. And then there is this peculiar rule that the 9th-10th finishers in the initial round-robin stage have to do commentary for the classical knockout phase or else lose 50% of their prize money. I think you got confused over here if I am right 5 matches you need to play in a year to be in ranking and Magnus and Anand are taking advantage of it especially Anand he is great but currently he is not top 10.

It's same pitch in politics as well. Trump vs bric nations. The world is moving towards bi polar or many going forward. One nation dominating the world isn't going to happen in any thing.
Does people know there are two different governing bodies offering world championship titles for boxing? I think they are called WBA and WBC (association and confederation). Chess is a game and different people could create their own federation or organization which will have its own ratings and competitions. As long as they don’t overlap or the participants are willing to play for both, what is wrong in having multiple organizations?

Anand has been protecting his rating for years and dodging real classical tournaments because the true top players would smash him. He wont be missed and was lucky to get invite in first place, nobody outside india cares about him.
Anand has nothing to prove. Why would he care about his rating when he is no longer aiming to be world champion? He's been there done that.
Anand is busy with other things like helping young Indian players and has responsibilities in FIDE.
