ENCANTO We Don't Talk About Bruno Shot Progression | Animation Breakdowns | 3D Animation Internships

This was by far the most difficult scene I animated on Encanto! It’s probably in the running for most difficult of my career!! At least top five.
I toiled many, many hours/days/weeks on this one! Despite how difficult it was I was soooo happy to be a part of this amazing song and sequence!

Then swipe to see my first pass. Notes I got here were to make the push at the beginning less forceful, have Pepa more slowly/less dramatically get into the dance pose with Felix, have Felix less surprised to start dancing and then finally adjusting Mirabel’s acting when Pepa gets in her face.
Swipe to see these notes addressed. When I showed this pass i got a new round of notes. These were to adjust Felix so his he sneaks his arm around Pepa’s waist, to lose the smile on Mirabel and to have her adjust her glasses, on “but” have Felix get serious and have Mirabel hop back a bit surprised.
Swipe to see these notes addressed. I think this version was approved by directors, but I still had quite the journey ahead of me putting this on ones. I also showed it to our dance consultant and remember she wanted to push the hips/rhythm more in the dancing. I also got a note to get Felix and Pepa closer before “but”. I’m sure there are many other little notes I’m forgetting as well!
