I have lived in Eastham all my life and love this historical video of how it was. My mother used to talk about coming over from Liverpool on the ferry boat and seeing the zoo and all the other interesting places. Thanks for making this video - a real keep sake.
I was a trainee stone mason on the Q.E.II dock entrance. Steve Carolyn and I kept that granite dock edge bull nosing, chip free for ages. Durv, who piloted the "surveyor", would take us out, up and down the Manchester ship canal every other week to. Where did time go 😨. Love Eastham ferry, it still is a day out, if you have a dog or like nature 😢
I lived on Ferry Road for the first 20 years of my life, I now live in Bromborough and visit my childhood "playground" a couple of times a week with my dogs.
Many thanks for an interesting and informative view of Eastham. My Husband Les Davies- was born and brought up in this Village and attended the Church school. I'm a native of Bromborough.
as a descendant of Washingtons many of whom lived on the Wirral I am interested to understand more about Eastham. John Washington and his son John lived at an address called "Farm House" Eastham Cheshire in 1861 (Census info). My relatives lived in Neston (Daniel Washington) and Thomas Washington (weaver) living near West Kirby on the Wirral around the same time. So I am curious to know if John is a relative or ours ? Parkgate on the other side of the Wirral on the banks of the Dee is another place where several Washingtons lived and worked, probably for the Estates of Lord Mostyn from North Wales across the Dee. So thanks for this insight into Eastham. Its hare to get good information as I am in Australia. I am still trying to find out if Ship building occurred at Eastham as it did on the Dee near Parkgate?
I,m from Eastham... now live in Ontario Canada.. loved the video..tks.. Alan.
Lived the first 15 years of my life there. Thanks for taking the time to produce this.
