- Cleaning the chimney of my Swedish Cabin. Thank god my brother is here so he can help me with this. I have never climbed a roof, and cleaned a chimney.

That looked sketchy! There is a gadget that allows you to sweep the chimney from below without having to climb the roof. I got one a few years ago, and it works like a charm! highly recommend it if you prefer not to break your neck.🙂

Haha my first comment was not published, just this add! The comment was that yes, you have to contact the municipality and let the company they hire do the chimney sweeping/sotning, every 3 years if the chimney is attached to a non-primary source of heat or every year if it is attached to a primary source. And it is cheap when they do it, like 500-600 crowns! So I wouldn’t do it myself 😊
Doe dat maar niet zelf, ik geloof iedere 2 - 3 jaar moet de schoorsteen professioneel geveegd worden, anders mag je die hier niet gebruiken.

@@chrisbrobbel4100 wie houdt dat bij en hoe toon je dat aan? Als de schoorsteen niet (optijd) gekeurd is mag je deze niet gebruiken.

Yeah he did but someone will come.
The previous owner made a logbook and authorities can do with that too sometimes together with pictures. But someone is coming too for me to give advise for an insert fireplace, as it is open now
@@kjschuil great :) its not a crime to not follow the rules. Its only that the insurance will not be valid if the "professional cleaning" are not done in time and you use the chimney after that date (and a fire occur). Sorry if you know all this, i dont mean to be a teacher :)
First thing as a house owner is to learn rules and regulations in Sweden.
This is not a cabin, it's a cottage (stuga).
I googled it once but it seemed that Google didn’t know. Can you tell me the difference? 😇
@@kjschuil a cabin have one room with a "kitchen" at one end. A cottage and a croft have a separate kitchen.
