Fastest mirror has been removed from dnf.conf and I strongly recommend running a full update before you run anything. For some reason, gnome-shell crashes, but dnf still runs in the background. I have also unlocked one more additional tweak to further lockdown the home folder.
Nice idea, I love the thinks you do whit this bush. I wander if you can use this to optimize it for STEAM and gaming on STEAM. Right now fedora Workstation 38 is bad for gaming and I don,t know what is the problem. A version to optimeze it for steam games will be usefull.
"X11 is unalive" Truly well said, Trafotin. Also the script looks fire. It's actually a good script and not just what I usually do, which is updating my system, setting up Firefox video codecs, setting up flathub installing software and setting up nvidia drivers when needed. You're putting a lot of great stuff that I didn't even think of before.
My week was as as bad as yours, I am in the same boat! I tried to install Fedora 28 on my 2015 computer using Secureboot enabled and was getting kernel panic messages when booting! I moved to openSUSE Leap 15.5 with Secureboot enabled, everything was working great. I then followed the openSUSE Nvidia driver installation guide and boom, Kernel panic -not synicing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0), so I disabled Secureboot and openSUSE Leap booted right up! I posted a more detailed description over at the openSUSE forum and hoping someone can help me. So I feel you pain! As always keep the great content coming, you are extremely knowledgeable and helpful!
Um, maybe you should try Secure Boot on SUSE Tumbleweed instead. Leap is not sufficient for desktop use and SUSE all around does fully support Secure Boot.
@@Trafotin Thank you for the suggestion, in your opinion, should I move away from opensuse all together and go to another distro that fully supports Secureboot, if so what distros do you suggest? Thank you!
LARBS With a Hat Edition My week was good! I ran the first two sessions this week of D&D 1e (Yes 1e) for my regular crew of players and they had a blast. Now I'm deep in the weeds of organizing a hex crawl for them in the game, so that's going to be really fun next week. I'm writing this right at the start of the video so maybe you answer this, but I'm surprised you're still going with Fedora, given the recent /issues/ that the Redhat/IBM has caused.
Good point...I'd mentioned it before too. One of Trafotin's vids was selecting either Fedora or OpenSUSE as the base distro...I chose Fedora. But am now second-guessing that...maybe a Tumbleweed is in my future hopping... :)
Yes to 40, no to Nobara. Nothing against Nobara except lack of Secure Boot. Big update is Whonix shuffled some of their files around and I want to integrate more of DivestOS's tweaks, so it's in the works.
hey trafotin, I know your so busy in life, but i would ask if you can do a build script for fedora xfce too? that would be awesome, thanks! New subbed.
I would love to use Fedora, it really is my Ideal Distro but I can never get it to play well with my system specially when using wayland I have an RTX 2060 . I really dont know what the diffrence is when it comes to performence but my games always run like crap on Fedora, and since im mostlay a gaming content creator using a single PC for gaming and capturing it sucks. I still have some weird issues with the Dstro im on random odd screen flickers here and there on my desktop whether im using X or wayland but my games run great at least. Im using an Arch based distro atm but I can tell you I hate pacman with a passion lol its syntax makes no sense to me unlike dnf or apt I would love to be able to switch to Fedora But saddly I dont see it happening till i can manage to figure out the cash to switch to an AMD graphics card. Great video, I am going to have a tinker with your script in a vm ;)
Are You going to make this available if so how would I do this on Ubuntu and Ubuntu-Based Distros like Zorin OS, KDE Neon, Pop!_OS how could anyone make a script for those Distros?
This is for Fedora Workstation. If you are using the KDE version (which was released months after), I did remove KDE Connect. You have to reinstall it.
It's a good thing for laptops really, things taken to places. For desktops though there's not much point unless you live with very nosy people, and even then it's bit of a stretch they would go through the effort to read it
@@alexstone691 ah yes, but have you considered in the future. Deleted files are not actually deleted, so by encrypting your disk fully, those files can never be recovered.
You don't. If you tried hard enough you could probably shrink and resize partitions but the chance of breakage is just too big and with this much effort you might as well just backup your stuff and reinstall

while emacs basically happily owning his own x11window all his own
You can go step further with kickstart files, especially with ventoy

Thank you for this script its so good that I cant belive it. No really, I love Fedora but this is like sky rocket now
I’ve been working on something similar, but I use kickstart

Are you going to make a video on the Fedora 40 and the telemetry? Have you used Nobara linux base off Fedora?

Literally less than 1 FPS, so margin of error. Just do it already if you aren't.

This method is outdated and overcomplicated. The fastest and easiest way to install Fedora today is deez nuts.

nope dnf improvement on fastest mirror only make dnf recacheing repo and make it fetch differrent server everytime you search or install an app
