"The Dogs Get A Bad Name" XL Bully Owners Hit Out Against Ban Despite Latest Devil Dog Kill

  • A new law banning American XL bully dogs has sparked a heated debate after several brutal attacks occurred despite the ban. The breed has been officially listed as dangerous due to the increasing number of fatal attacks. However, XL bully campaigners argue that the breed is being unfairly demonized and that each incident should be judged on a case-by-case basis. The controversy surrounding this issue has raised questions about responsible dog ownership and whether a complete ban on the breed is necessary.
XL bully dogs have been at the center of controversy since they were officially deemed a dangerous breed. Supporters of the ban argue that the breed poses a significant risk to public safety, citing multiple fatal attacks. However, XL bully campaigners believe that the breed is being unfairly targeted and that responsible ownership should be the focus instead. They argue that any dog has the potential to become aggressive, and it is the owner's responsibility to ensure proper training and socialization.
Some members of the public are frustrated by what they perceive as a resistance to implementing a total ban on XL bully dogs. They argue that current laws and regulations are not sufficient to prevent attacks and that stricter measures need to be put in place. Critics of the breed point out that there is money to be made in breeding XL bully dogs, which contributes to the ease of acquiring them, even after the ban. They argue that the barrier to owning a potentially dangerous dog is too low and that more stringent regulations and consequences for owners and breeders are needed.

It’s not the dogs that are the issue. I understand how the owner of the pup is upset, but it’s the bully owner needs to take responsibility. You have to train them. My neighbour has teacup chiuhahua dogs who are seriously vicious. No one bans them.

A bad name? Seeing a 3 year old boy and his mother with horrendous scars on their faces makes anyone's argument about there being no bad dogs fall flat. In the small Towne I lived in in British Columbia Canada there were 2 days when packs of dogs who's humans didn't have them fenced in their yard or leashed, after the first attack on a woman walking her dog, on a leash. The following day the same dogs were seen after killing an outdoor cat. The animal control was contacted by a friend of mine from Prague. They went dog hunting. There was a couple of Rottweilers a bulldog a German shepherd a poodle terrier mix and Chihuahua who were put down. The owners who wanted to sue the small town were warned by their friends and family if they did they would be getting a fine of more than 10 million dollars that would have come out of their welfare payments.

I bet these dogs aren't exercised and are probably bored out of their minds. There strength is their weakness. Some are bad of course but I believe a good/kind owner can make them amazing pets. The government were told by the American Bully registry that they had 100 thousand registered XLs in the UK. They ignored all the expert advice regarding how we stop all dog attacks, as it is most people wouldnt know what an XL looks like which causes mis identification. The dog in the Birmingham attack wasnt an XL and a number of the pics shown of apparent XLs are other breeds or X breeds. We need to target the other end of the lead because until we do attacks by all breeds will carry on.Ive had Bull breeds for 40 years and have 2 exempted XLs now, they're no different than any of the other dogs Ive had.Ive made sure all my dogs have been socialised, trained ,properly exercised and havent had a single problem in those 40 years. Im responsible for the welfare and actions of my dogs ,so I make sure they never get in situations that may cause issues. If I dont act in a responsible way then Im at fault not my dogs, and I would take full responsibility for mine and their actions.

Alsatians have attacked people but don't get attention because the police use them. A few bad owners shouldn't result in this farce of a ban. Funny how all dogs should be on a lead in public but when Sunak allows his dog to be off the lead nobody says a word.

This demonisation of breeds make me sick. I was considering getting a Bully about 4 years ago. Having researched the breed it was noted everywhere that the main reason for the development of the breed was to have similar characteristics of the Pitbull but without the dog aggression due to their fighting history. Main goal was to have a companion dog, good temperament, social and good around young children. Everything I deem important in choosing a dog.
Since these attacks many websites have changed the description of this breed and their temperament which I think is misleading, especially to the majority of the uniformed general public.
Irresponsible owners and back yard breeding are responsible for the number of attacks associated with these dogs. Also I feel that any dog with a similar stature is automatically classed as a bully which adds to the stigma.
Where I live (East London) I notice the popularity in certain breeds increasing, mainly younger owners. Bullies are popular but similarly so are Cane Corso's. My fear is that is the next breed to be put on the hit list.

That's fine that to you your dog is and has no aggression but one thing you cannot say is that your dog will not become or have that bloodlust or that moment of them getting triggered to in a point where it's not just the person being hurt but a person getting close to being killed. Or them dying. If I had a dollar for every single time I've ever heard anybody talking in that same way I'd be rich and I'm not talking hyperbole. In fact one of my friends who had a Rottweiler who again was the type that when I was around him he seemed like he was a very docile kind of a person. Yet her friend and my friend who was at the time pregnant and she had been up in their place many times whether or not she was pregnant and it was after she was I think she was just about 9 months pregnant at that point when she went up to their place to go have some tea and basically she went in there and the dog was acting a little bit on the peculiar side. And instead of coming up to her and nestling her the way that she normally did. The dog began growling and then it barked but the bark was not like a playful kind of bark like you want to play or I want you to play with me it was the bark of get the f*** away from me. And then after that real quick bark she lunged it at the woman burying her teeth with the frost coming out of the mouth and I'm not saying that the dog had rabies. But the owner of the dog was what she said to that person was what did you do to her to make her react that way and Danielle my friends said to her I just came in when she came up against me I was going to Pat her like I normally do every single time I go up there and then she reacted that way so the one who owned the Rottweiler hesitatingly and quite pissed off at this pregnant woman Greg that dog by the collar the dog did not stop growling barking or trying to Lunge at the woman still even with her holding on to that collar. As she dragged her and put her into the one of the bedrooms the dog continue to yell and bark at the towards obviously towards the the pregnant woman who was still in in the home so Danielle said to her friend I think it would be good for me to just go then cuz your dog doesn't want me here so in a couple days I went up to go see Diane and Diane was of a mind to say that she thought it was that the woman who was pregnant at that point I was starting to have less to do with this woman because she was talking about other people behind their back and I hate that with people I really do if someone does that a couple times then I start to spend less and less time with them. Now I was not surprised when Maybe 4 to 5 years later I went back to that small town for my mother's funeral. When I saw the lady who had been the pregnant woman and I asked her how her friend was doing who was the one who owned the Rottweiler and when I asked about that person my friend just gave a very sad looking Shake of the head and said I have no idea how she's doing and I said oh no I'm sorry to hear that. And she said I'm not she said it's better this way. So I apologize but I didn't want to say to her what I noticed when she wasn't there with that that person talking about her because of the fact that that would be just like the person who was doing all the talking so I thought it's best not to get involved in that kind of a situation that's their stuff. But I do know that my friend who was pregnant she had a sister who trained dogs and so when she talked to that sister about the Rottweiler there and about what had happened. Her older sister said I know why that dog attacked you. So my my friend said her sister will why did the dog attack me then so that I can talk to Diane about this and she said to her sister had told her that for the Rottweilers there's this part with people humans especially that when a human is pregnant but when they're getting ready to give birth they look at that woman who is pregnant as being somebody who's like somebody who they're like I can't I can't recall the exact same wording that that she said but it was something like they looked at them as being something for them to fear and when they're afraid of something then they get angry towards that person and she was just like yeah he could smell the blood that was going to be coming out of you from that child coming out and that's why she reacted that way was for that reason and when my friend had explained that you know it was just like okay and one thing her sister never said was her sister never said that there was no such thing as a bad dog but only bad humans. As a matter of fact when she lived in Wisconsin they would come to her on different matters like that and I can't recall what city they she was in in Wisconsin but when they came to her regarding Pit Bulls and Rottweilers and the like she was the one who advised them as to the kind of restrictions that they should have and one of those restrictions was to say that a Rottweiler or a pitbull could not be a service animal. Because the only animals who do those kind of things like for example being a scene eye dog you cannot have a pitbull or Rottweiler to be a seeing eye dog. Which is why you do see that breeds that you see who are doing those kinds of jobs.

I was at the vets a few days ago and met the 1yr9month xl bully. Her new muzzle csme off and she just stood therexqaiting for inner tonputbiy back on. Hecwas terrified that it would come off in the street so got another. My cat was wanting to get at her and she showed no interest. When trained properly, these dogs are great pets. It's the owners who get them as status fogs are usually the main owners who dint take care.
