Hey Alabama girl!! I love, love, love your videos. And I’m an 80s girl too. So I can relate to your humor. We have the same values. 😉 I’ve shared your videos with my other quilting friends. My husband is an Alabama boy, we’ve been married 36 yrs. I’m from Philadelphia and we met in Germany while he was in the Army, and we live is Las Vegas. Don’t worry about mispronouncing “Ah-ern” (iron). My mother in law would call me “Linder”. I’d jokingly remind her that my name doesn’t have an “R” in it. It’s “Linda”. lol Thanks for sharing all your experiences. It’s fun when you go to Goodwill. P.S. Sorry, but we’re Alabama fans!! Roll tide! lol I’m dancing and singing along to “Sweet Home Alabama”. 💃🏻
Hey PA girl! Thanks so much for watching, and commenting, and sharing!! And YASSS 80's girl!!❤️ Tell that Alabama husband I said, "Heyyyy!" I'm pretty good about not putting "r's" on the end of words, but my grandparents and great-grandparents did that all the time!! 😂 And don't worry, I have tons of friends that are Alabama fans---the classy ones are supportive of Auburn when we aren't playing each other!(and vice versa) 😉
I really enjoy all your videos. Thank you for introducing me to the Geo Gems pattern and your beautiful idea for the trimmed corners as part of the backing. I am having a ball going through all my fabric deciding on the mix for each block.
Thank you so much, Kathleen! ❤️ I think you are going to enjoy the Geo Gems---it comes together fairly quickly and is pretty forgiving (an underrated trait for a quilt pattern, in my opinion.) I hope you find fabric that delights you! 😊
Cathy you have no idea how much I enjoy listening to EVERYTHING YOU HAVE TO SAY!! Yes it’s a lot but I have learned A LOT!! I love how you pick strings because I am doing it all the time too! I love how you laugh at yourself and it makes me smile and laugh with you. I will admit 🙋🏻♀️ “My name is Laura and I have GINGAHPHOPBIA!!” I think it is a beautiful fabric when uncut and not sewn together crooked and twisted on these cheaply made clothes. I gives me the hebie jebies!! (sp) but I digress. 🤣🤣 Seeing you touch polyester is like me touching velvet. (full body quivering). 🤢 I absolutely love your videos and I will never ever be able to pick up my seam ripper and not hear the little devil on my shoulder whispering in my ear “Death to Fabric” with evil laughter. 😳😂😂 Thank you for such amazing info. I’m a retired nurse and I totally get the OCD. We have to have it at least some because our jobs ARE THAT DEEP!! Much love until the next time from this UK BIG BLUE fan!! 💙🤍🪡🧵
Oh my goodness, thank you, Laura! ❤️ (and yes, our jobs DEFINITELY that deep!) 😘 So glad you're enjoying being here with me. Thank you for watching and commenting, and for your kind words! 🥰
“I’m about to lose control and I think I like it!” Whoa there! You’re getting close to pulling fabric out of a bag and sewing without a color wheel or attention to what goes with what! 😂😂😂❤
Okay, the back of your quilt I think will be more stunning than the front!! Maybe, maybe, you should make it a new quilt front! It has a wonderful modern feel!!! Can’t wait to see what you do either way.
Hi Cathy. Lots of fun happy quilting.❤ Now that you have the QAYG sorted, you can use up your button hole fabric strips to do a tote with those. So much fun! Xx
@@TheCatBirdQuilts Eventually does come around. My machine is on holidays. And I'm off to mainland for a 6 week locum, leaving in two days! Was organised yesterday!! Hand sewing will be packed, books to read and my journal. Time to regroup for me. Xx
@@TheCatBirdQuilts Thanks Cathy. Hoping to be very busy, and able to manage the admin side as well. More training tomorrow for me in the admin. Life was so much easier with real paper notes. 😊
Isn't fabric just grand? I love to touch all the fabric and visualize the way it will look in a quilt with all the other fabrics. LOVE the 'cut off' piecing which you are using on the back of the quilt - it's brilliant!!!!!
Ooooo, I spy a bonus quilt❤ Love the new bag too Cathy. I love a good fabric bag of any size. Most of the ones I make house my knitting projects...but I too, am planning a tote bag. I have a special piece of fabric for the lining and some beautiful linen for the outer fabric. I just need to get a fresh bundle of batting and I'll be good to go! Hope this finds you and the family well. Take care , Kim x ❤
Yes ma'am! Thank you, Kim! ❤️ I also love a good fabric bag, and have more totes than I need but there's something about each one that I either don't like, or want a size that would work better! Your bag is going to be gorgeous! When it's done send me a photo in either IG or email so I can see it! 🤩😍 We're decently well and I hope you are too! 😘
Hey Cathy. If I see you and Paul at Quiltcon I will surely yell for you across the way. Just giving you fair warning. Do not want to embarrass you but would really love to meet you both. Your channel rocks. That's funny coming from a 74 year old but really it does.
Hi Brenda!! That is absolutely FINE! We had a wonderful viewer come up to us last year and she waved Paul out of the way to get to me (true story)---it was hilarious! I'll happily greet you with a big hug! ❤️ And thank you! I'm glad you are enjoying our channel! 😊
I swear, I know we could be friends in real life. I not only “get” your quirky sense of humor, I also share it. I too LOVE quilting with shirts et al, designing, and have ALL the colored pencils and paints, etc. in my creative space as well. You thanked us for sticking with you until the end of the video. You often accompany me in my Creation Station on the iPad while I’m sewing-maybe in those 10-min segments after a week full of QuickBooks. 😜
Apologies for the late reply---thank you, DJ! There are a lot of us here on the channel that would be great friends if only we lived near each other! 🥰❤️ Thanks for being here with me, listening and supporting (and commenting!) I'm thankful for your friendship, too. 😘
Wow🎉! love what you’re doing with the cut offs, no waste👍🏼Everything on your sewing table is fabulous ❤ I do love gingham and polka dots and pink etc. And the singing 🎵 well that was just icing on the cake👏🏼🎉 Wonderful video, sew fun to watch, thanks for sharing! 😊
"It's not that deep!" Oh I love that. What I usually say is "It's not brain surgery." Pretty much the same thing. Your quilt as you go bag is going to wonderful.
Love 💕 the explanation of how you choose the three colors at a time. That make sense to how my brain works putting colors together. I have been unable to just grab pieces and sew together. Very happy to try this.☺
Thank you, Aunt Grace! ❤️ I can't put "just anything" together, either! I will say, I had to get back from it (aka hold it further than arms length) and evaluate what was "missing" when it started looking too blue or too red, etc. And then I just added what was missing and went from there!
🥳Everything about today’s video was fun, happy, and cheerful, including your rendition of the Pointer Sisters song! Loving the bright colors, loving the design choices, loving the scrappiness, and loving the quilt as you go bag in progress! No wonder you’re “So excited”! Love it! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Great shirt find yesterday: gingham shirt with “normal gingham” on the outside, fully lined with big gingham, including the sleeves! I heard your voice as I was shopping; it was great!
I just subscribed to your channel. Not something I do willy nilly! I want you to know how much I enjoy the episodes you put out. I've been quilting for 40ish years. You are doing something different than others in the quilting area. I think it's because your personality shines through as well as great technique. Keep going with your great style. A Fan!;-)
Thank you, Beverly! ❤️ I'm humbled that you find enjoyment here, especially since you've been quilting for a hot minute! 😉 Thank you for the encouragement and the vote of confidence---I'm so glad you're here with me! 😘
One more thing I wanted to tell you, which I guess that could mean I have a lot to say?😉 My brother in law passed away a little over a year ago. 😔 I took all of his 20 cotton dress shirts and have been able to make a quilt for my sister, my niece & nephew. Since no pattern or color choices were mine I used all 20 in each of the 3 tops. Fabrics are all the same, but 3 different designs to make each quilt unique, as was this wonderful man’s relationship with his wife and children. I had started watching you about 6 months before Del passed and YOU were my inspiration. Thank you for using your God given talent’s, which are many, to bless the lives of others. ❤ IF you’d like to see the 3 tops where might I send the pics on my phone? I won’t be offended if that doesn’t work for you. Blessings on you, Paul, and your 2 daughters. 😊
I really love the disappearing four patch and the piece with the HSTs that you will include on the back of the Gems quilt. Speaking of, the Gems blocks are looking great! As usual, wonderful video and TFS!
Thank you, Dedra! I need to get busy and make more of those D4P blocks this weekend--but unfortunately I work! 🤦🏻♀️ I'll have to squeeze in 15 min here and there!
What a joy to wake up to you this morning in Australia 🇦🇺! I am so blessed to have you in my life Cathy. You are an inspiration . You keep it real and your joy and happiness in the whole quilting process is infectious. Now to get to my sewing table. Happy making and thank you 🙏🏽 for you and all you do here in TH-cam land. When next you are passing by 😉 please drop by for a cuppa. You are always so welcome at my home. Xx
Oh my goodness, Deborah! Thank you!! ❤️ I'm so glad you found joy with me this morning and inspired to get to sewing this morning!! If I ever happen to be in the neighborhood, you know, on my world tour (😂), I'll take you up on that offer of a cuppa! ☕️😘
I found your channel about three months ago. I then watched the oldest first (good to know the history of the purple shirt). For the last few weeks I have been rationing "The Pharmacist" watching because I was almost caught up. Today I watched the most recent. :( Sad face because now I can't watch "The Pharmacist" until you post a new one. I have most enjoyed seeing you laugh at yourself. Your willingness to show a momentary struggle to find a word (or surprise yourself by inventing a new word) rather than edit it out combined with your genuine laughter are delightful.
Thank you so much, Janis! ❤️ That means so much to me! 🤓 I would be remiss if I didn't credit my husband, Paul, for his excellent choices in editing! Were it not for him, those pauses and made-up words might not be in the video! 🥰
Suggestion... how about adding a "purplelly" sashing (like the binding you are planning) to help the snowballed corners pop a bit more... worth a look , maybe 😊 and WOW those cute cut offs FABULOUS!🎉
The layout of the Bonus-HSTs is just marvelous. Great use of scraps and perfect use for the backing (but would make a nice front, too). Your other projects are great as well but the HSTs ❤❤ Looking forward to see how the bag is turning out.
I love that you are creating outside your comfort zone with your scraps. It gives me hope to me able to do something similar soon. Just needed to hear and commit to memory the phrase "it's not that deep"!❤
Hooray! Bringing you to the scrappy side!!!! Trying to match gingham checks is WAY TO DEEP! Thanks for encouraging people to use gingham! One of my favourite fabrics! XOX
Oh my! I have found my people!! 😁 Two of my favorite pastimes-quilting and thrifting!! AND from AL like me too! I have searched for upcycling practices in quilting and have a found a little bit here and there, but I’m so pleased to find your channel and IG! 🎉
Oh yay!! I'm so glad you found my channel, Heather! ❤️ Yeah, there really isn't a lot out there about sustainable quilting---but maybe we'll start to see an uptick as people realize what beautiful, affordable options there are at the thrift store!! I'm glad to have you with me on my quilting journey!
Yeah 🎉 for the bonus quilt from cut offs Yeah for the “after quilt” your making by putting them in the back. I have made two quilts now where the back is coordinated and lovely. 🎉
I am not the only one who uses "and now for something completely different" in regular conversation! I love Flying Circus so much. I have them all on DVD.
I love your Scrappy quilt I've been working on a scrappy quilt for a couple weeks and thought it was so funny that you started a quilt as you go also wish I could send you a picture
Thank you, Barbara!❤️ I think a lot of us quilters are working on scrappy projects right now---after the holidays, I know I looked at my scrap bin and thought, "something has to be done here!"😂 My email is listed in the "About" on my channel main page--feel free to email me with a photo!
I loved this video. It was such fun seeing your projects and where you are going with them. I finally got back to my sewing as well. Between our deck project taking over my dining room table where I sew with tools and then parties, company, funerals and just no sewjo, I got everything set back up. Started with some projects for church and now I am using a panel for a quilt (which I find limiting) but important for this particular project, my sewjo is screaming back at me to sew sew sew!!! Thanks for bring us along on your journey!!! Greatings from not so cold or snowy MN!
Thanks, Christine! I'm so glad your sewjo is calling to you!! What a wonderful place to be as a quilter! ❤️🤓 And thanks, as always, for watching and commenting and supporting me here on my YT and quilting journey!
l'm waiting on a call for hand surgery ,soooo l needed to buy a new sewing machine lol😊😊 lt makes complete sense doesn't it ? I've been needing an upgrade with a bigger throat size and it's sale time so l took the plunge. My mom was a fantastic seamstress, first with her treadle then later with her Singer Slantomatic. When she passed in 2020 , she left me a modest inheritance some of which l'm using for this. She would approve😊😊❤
My first quilt/quilt was a baby quilt done in pastel gingham fabrics with a rick-rack outer edge. That would be 1970 something. Lately I have been craving gingham fabric to incorporate into a scrappy quilt.
I can just see that 1970-era gingham baby quilt with rick-rack in my mind's eye! I bet it was sweet! 🥰 Of course we'd call it vintage now! 😂 But you know I love the gingham, so I approve!❤️
I think that the smaller strips were a great decision and actually I like that your stitching is not precise. I think it adds interest. I also 'over think' what fabrics go together and I love how you select colors in groups. I plan on using that tip since I prefer 'planned scrappy.' Thanks for sharing links to other TH-camrs. I edited this b/c I wanted to let you know how much I love the corners cut-offs that you are using on the back of the quilt...it's beautiful & brilliant.
I LOVE your blocks! All of them! I can also see using those little extra half-square triangles in some design on the border! I almost always make my quilts two sides…so they are reversible! I do enjoy your tutorials! Stay warm and dry!
Oh my goodness that Geogems quilt is looking amazing!!! Ahhhh 🎶 But I must say the half square triangle “cut-offs” for the backing are just as beautiful!! Won’t be able to tell which is the back and which is the front. Lol 🥰👏🏻 Also let’s not forget about the pink disappearing 9 patch project or your beautifully colorful quilt as you go…it’s going it make a beautiful bag!! Everything you do is just…😘👌🏻 (Edited to add….loved the singing part too!! 😆😉)
Good morning Cathy, one of my favorite things is having coffee with you on Fridays! wonderful video, your sewing table is full of such beautiful things! That bag is going to be fantastic, all the colors are wonderful. I wish I had your knowledge of color. 😊 The backing for your quilt is fantastic, and what a great way to use “leftovers”. Can’t wait to see your finished quilt. Happy Friday and have a wonderful weekend, hopefully you have some sewing time! 🥰
O my goodness a pink disappearing 4 patch! It is absolutely beautiful or will be. I am making a baby quilt for my soon to be great niece. Her momma loves neutrals so that is what mine will be all white and neutral. Not super exciting but it will be pretty. Now back to the scrappy - Sis I love the scrappy stripe! I am making a scrappy piece of fabric but not QAYG just making the fabric and then will make some zipper bags. You would call my scrappy chaotic and it might make you a little cray-cray. I am so excited to see you at QuiltCon and see your beautiful quilt! You do great work and have such awesome information. Love ya sis! SEW ON!
Thank you, Christina! ❤️ I bet your neutrals baby quilt will be lovely! And I knew you'd be thrilled about the pink D4P blocks! Scrappy and pink---two of your favorite things! 💕 Can't wait to see you at QuiltCon! 🥰
I am building my stash from men's dress shirts, I have been deconstructing them and going to the thrift store to get more and unable to start the quilt for my daughter. I just need to start and I am sure it is going to be easier since is my second quilt and I thing I learned a lot from your channel.
I love that triangle starburst design at the end!! It will look beautiful on the backside! I always stay till the end and listen to everything you have to say. All my life, I loved bright colors, and hated neutrals--they were so boring! . . . And now I love neutrals, and am not into bright colors! But I think part of it for me is that I'm always looking for something different; and neutrals are different for me now, though others were into them for years! Love you, Cathy!! ❤
Oh my goodness, thank you, Siennaflower! ❤️ It means a lot to me that you watch to the end! I'm in and out with both neutrals and bright colors---but maybe this gray weather is driving me toward the brights and the colorful!
Thank you, Linda! If I had the time, I just make up a whole bunch of these bags in all different variations of colors and shades and use up my scrap bins! 🤩
TY for sharing your colour wisdom. It is a skill I have not developed. I think my eyes read colours incorrectly sometimes. Further, a QAYG table runner is perhaps a good idea, since you are getting such a kick out of it.
Like you, scrap quilts get very busy visually so what has worked for me is to bite the bullet and buy a solid to add into the scrap quilt to tone it down and give it a purposeful look.
Kirsty, I integrated a lot of solids in that scrappy QAYG bag, too, and I think I did it unconsciously to try and give it some order and restraint! I don't remember *actively* thinking, "this needs a solid now" but I did use them liberally throughout. Maybe that's the way I can make "scrappy" feel less chaotic for me, too!
Where to start!? EVERYTHING on your table is gorgeous. Loved the patreon wink! Look forward to seeing the finished tote. And the geo gems backing! WOW!!! ❤
Love this video, you are all over the place. But aren't we all, looking at our stash. I have a whole bin of yellows, starting something new soon. What? No idea. Haha. Thanks for the video hugs from Tampa.
Thank you Cathy. Love pinks and am intrigued with quick four patches. I tried finding the Lea Louise video but couldn't. Could you provide more info like the name or the link??
Sure! I intended to put the link in the description---I guess that didn't happen?! LOL. Anyway, here it is: th-cam.com/video/hXmh5RaUs8Y/w-d-xo.htmlsi=uva8PcGGYed-VtkT

The layout of the Bonus-HSTs is just marvelous. Great use of scraps and perfect use for the backing (but would make a nice front, too).
Your other projects are great as well but the HSTs ❤❤
Looking forward to see how the bag is turning out.
Those HST's really steal the show, don't they? 😍 Thanks for the great compliment and I'm eager to see how that bag turns out too! 😘
Pink, pink, pink! 😎. They make lovely quilts.
Thank you, Jeff! And you should know! 😘
Your ging-hammy quilt is going to be fabulous!...Both Sides Now! sing that one! LOL
Sylvie, I love that song! How perfect! ❤️ Maybe I'll sing it if I do a quilt story on it! 😂
@@TheCatBirdQuilts hahahaha! I'll watch for it!
Oh Cathy you lovely lady❤️ I was laughing so much with you singing your happy song! I need to watch rest of video....will get back to you.
Tink, I laugh again every time I think about that moment in the video! 😂 And thank you! ❤️
Watched the rest. Quilts are going to be gorgeous ❤️
I love that you are creating outside your comfort zone with your scraps. It gives me hope to me able to do something similar soon. Just needed to hear and commit to memory the phrase "it's not that deep"!❤
Thank you, Giselle! ❤️ It won't be long and you'll be back at! And yes, my goodness, I need to hear (daily) "it's not that deep!"
Oh! I LOVE your 'after quilt' from the leftover hst's!!! Fabulous idea🎉
Thank you, Joni! ❤️
Hooray! Bringing you to the scrappy side!!!! Trying to match gingham checks is WAY TO DEEP! Thanks for encouraging people to use gingham! One of my favourite fabrics! XOX
LOL, Anne! Yes, trying to match gingham IS WAY TOO DEEP! Lol again! We have this shared love of gingham, I think!
Your videos make me SO HAPPY !!! Thanks for the singing. Brought back some memories for sure ✌🏻❤️
Aww! Thank you, Dianne! ❤️
I love the strings for the bag! Next thing you know, we're going to see you do an improv crumb quilt! Scrappy is my love language.
LOL! No way, Evelyn! 😂
Yeah 🎉 for the bonus quilt from cut offs
Yeah for the “after quilt” your making by putting them in the back.
I have made two quilts now where the back is coordinated and lovely. 🎉
Right?! I'm a big fan of a coordinated back with elements from the front. A BIG. FAN. 😂🤓🤩
Ah, the final reveal is SO satisfying! Striking and clever and using "waste." Looks amazing. And *of course* I stayed to watch all of it! :D
*Of course* you did, and one of the many reasons I'm thankful to have you with me here! Thanks as always, Steff! 😘
That is super cute! It’ll be great 🥰. I like how you decided what went together. I love you in that dark grey shirt, it’s very pretty on you.
Aww! Thank you, Angie! ❤️ I love a dark grey shirt, let me tell you!
I am not the only one who uses "and now for something completely different" in regular conversation! I love Flying Circus so much. I have them all on DVD.
love the tiny triangles! I think I would keep it and make a small wall hanging to brighten up a room that needs a happy decor!
Thank you, Celia! ❤️ That is a great idea---maybe next quilt I'll do that! 😘

I look forward to your videos each week. You always have such great ideas and brighten my day. Thank you!
Aww, thank you, Pamela! ❤️
I have always loved gingham and finding an XLT shirt is such a joy!
Yes, me too, and YES it IS!!❤️
I like Nottingham quilt and the backing will be so nice. Thanks for video
Thanks, Jeanette!
The half square cutoffs look spectacular 🎉
Lovely, lovely projects in the works.
Thank you, Susan! ❤️
l'm waiting on a call for hand surgery ,soooo l needed to buy a new sewing machine lol😊😊 lt makes complete sense doesn't it ? I've been needing an upgrade with a bigger throat size and it's sale time so l took the plunge. My mom was a fantastic seamstress, first with her treadle then later with her Singer Slantomatic. When she passed in 2020 , she left me a modest inheritance some of which l'm using for this. She would approve😊😊❤
I'm so excited for your new machine, Giselle! 🤩 And yes, I think your mother would DEFINITELY approve! ❤️
Yesterday I bought my first mens’ shirt to cut down…
Please show how you finish the bag. Will be beautiful
Thank you, Becky! You know I will! (I have already posted a progress photo on Instagram if you are on it!)
Love this video
Thank you, Marsha! ❤️
You crack me up too!!!😅
Oh I'm so glad I'm not the only one cracking up out here in quilting channel land! 😂😘
LoL good to hear you laugh.
Thank you, Georgia! Thankfully I didn't blow out the sound this time! (sometimes that happens and Paul has to gate/compress the sound!)
I LOVE your blocks! All of them! I can also see using those little extra half-square triangles in some design on the border! I almost always make my quilts two sides…so they are reversible! I do enjoy your tutorials! Stay warm and dry!
lovely thankyou
You’re welcome, Zog! 😊
Oh my goodness that Geogems quilt is looking amazing!!! Ahhhh 🎶 But I must say the half square triangle “cut-offs” for the backing are just as beautiful!! Won’t be able to tell which is the back and which is the front. Lol
🥰👏🏻
Also let’s not forget about the pink disappearing 9 patch project or your beautifully colorful quilt as you go…it’s going it make a beautiful bag!! Everything you do is just…😘👌🏻
(Edited to add….loved the singing part too!! 😆😉)
Aww!! Thank you, Charity! ❤️
Thank you, Debbie! ❤️ I hope you have a wonderful weekend too!
thx
As you did your first reveal, I heard myself (say?) make a satisfying hmmphh….the colors made me happy too. Lovely!
Thank you, Shannon!!❤️ I'm so glad you found happiness in those colors too!
Yup, I am definitely hooked on your thinking......and I do love your sense of humor, weird or not but it doesn't matter does it!
Excellent creativity!!! Love your idea for the backing & the front is just oh sew cute!! Love love!
Aww! Thank you, Shelly! ❤️
❤ so enjoy your videos and listening to you while I am working. Looking forward to the future ones.
Thank you, Mary! ❤️
I'm thinking of using the button sashings of my shirts to do same idea. Thinking of sewing a sewing machine cover.
Great idea! Sew the buttonholes shut otherwise it sefeats the purpose of the cover
Connie, that is a GREAT idea! 🤓 Clever girl.❤️
The “cut-off” project is beautiful 🌹✂️🧵🪡
Thank you, Elizabeth! ❤️
Lovely result!!
Thank you! ❤️
Your bonus triangles layout is amazing.
Aw, thank you, Ronda! I was inspired by the back of the "Blizzard" Quilt by KD Spain.
Gorgeous ‘after quilt”!❤
Thanks, Yoshie!❤️
Your bag is going to be so cute. Great way to use up those strips. Love the top and oh the start of your backing is great!! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you, Linda! If I had the time, I just make up a whole bunch of these bags in all different variations of colors and shades and use up my scrap bins! 🤩
All those pinks look happy together
Corey, right?! ❤️ I love just having that fabric stacked up and ready to use!
War Eagle! 🧡💙
War Eagle! 💙🧡
Your blocks are pieced so beautifully!
TY for sharing your colour wisdom. It is a skill I have not developed. I think my eyes read colours incorrectly sometimes. Further, a QAYG table runner is perhaps a good idea, since you are getting such a kick out of it.
You're welcome, Diane! ❤️ And a tablerunner is a GREAT idea! Thank you for sharing! 🤩
🎉 I'm working on a QAYG ❤ Looking forward to your progress.
So fun! I thought it would cumbersome and tedious but it's fun and delightful to see it come together so quickly!
I love the disappearing 4 patch. A go to scrappy pattern for me and experimenting with pattern and color.
I'm finding that to be true as well--a great pattern to experiment with pattern and color! ❤️
Like you, scrap quilts get very busy visually so what has worked for me is to bite the bullet and buy a solid to add into the scrap quilt to tone it down and give it a purposeful look.
Exactly what I’ve done.❤
Kirsty, I integrated a lot of solids in that scrappy QAYG bag, too, and I think I did it unconsciously to try and give it some order and restraint! I don't remember *actively* thinking, "this needs a solid now" but I did use them liberally throughout. Maybe that's the way I can make "scrappy" feel less chaotic for me, too!
Where to start!? EVERYTHING on your table is gorgeous. Loved the patreon wink! Look forward to seeing the finished tote. And the geo gems backing! WOW!!! ❤
Aww! Thank you, Laura! ❤️
I love that backing!
So beautiful!
Thank you, Marjorie!
My very first quilt was a disappearing four patch out of Christmas fabric! Beautiful!
Aww! I bet it was beautiful, Bonnie!
I have a coral shirt with lobsters and a striped one with storks, but I don't know where to use them!
Sometimes those funky novelty prints are super FUN but not easy to integrate into a project. I think the project has to present itself!
I recognize some of the fabric you used in the QAYG!
You ought to! "Lily Pulitzer" for the win! AND all that gingham---you've seen a lot of it, my friend! ❤️
Love this video, you are all over the place. But aren't we all, looking at our stash. I have a whole bin of yellows, starting something new soon. What? No idea. Haha. Thanks for the video hugs from Tampa.
Oooh "whole bin of yellows!" 🤩 I think I'm *always* all over the place! LOL! Thanks, Laura! 😘
love your style and your content
Good morning this is going to be so cute.
Thank you, Pam!❤️
❤
In case anyone is wondering how to use those collars and cuffs, I think you found it!
What a great idea! Thanks for the suggestion!
Thank you Cathy. Love pinks and am intrigued with quick four patches. I tried finding the Lea Louise video but couldn't. Could you provide more info like the name or the link??
Sure! I intended to put the link in the description---I guess that didn't happen?! LOL.
